The 40Ar/39Ar dating of ultrapotassic rocks from Central Chukotka shows that these rocks are Early Cretaceous, and yields a narrow range of age variations (109 to 107 Ma), which correlates fairly well with the range of age variations of granitoids typical of the study area (117–105 Ma). There are thus grounds to suggest that the ultrapotassic magmas and granitoids resulted from the same geological process that can be identified from the material characteristics of the ultrapotassic magmas.In the modern concepts of the regional geological development, the formation of the granitoid and ultrapotassic magmas can be related to the continental lithosphere extension due to the collision of Eurasian plate and the Chukotka – Arctic Alaska continental block.Using modern genetic models based on the interpretations of the material characteristics of ultrapotassic magmas, it is possible to limit the number of genetic hypotheses and to relate the continental lithosphere extension to the processes that took place in the upper mantle of the study area.

<p>We are now entering an era of rocky exoplanet detection. To determine whether an exoplanet is ‘Earth-like’, we must estimate not only its mass, radius and insolation, but also its geological composition. These geological constraints have wide ranging implications, not least for a planet’s subsequent evolution and habitability.</p><p>Polluted white dwarfs which have accreted fragments of planetary material provide a unique opportunity to probe exoplanetary interiors. We can also learn about their formation histories, including the geological process of core-mantle differentiation.</p><p>Cr, Ni and Fe behave differently during differentiation, depending on the conditions under which it occurs. This alters the Cr/Fe and Ni/Fe ratios in the core and mantle of differentiated bodies. The pressure inside the body is a key parameter, and depends on the body’s size.</p><p>In our work, we present a novel approach for modelling this behaviour and use it to gain crucial insight into the sizes of exoplanetary bodies which pollute white dwarfs.</p>

Political geology is concerned with the relationship between geological process, matter, and politics. It is a relatively recent neologism adopted by geographers and includes scholarship from a number of disciplines adjacent to geography, including anthropology, history of science, science and technology studies, and religious studies. The emergence of the Anthropocene no doubt played a role in raising geographers’ interest in the politicization of geology and geological knowledge. Much work in the field has begun to depart from the lens of Anthropocene studies and venture into new intellectual territory. Political geology seeks to understand geological knowledge as a tradition with histories and geographies. It studies the history of the geological sciences across world cultures and has an expanded conception of geological knowledge (and the sciences) beyond a focus on Euro-America. It is building a cosmopolitan understanding of the geological sciences. Geological knowledge is not taken for granted to speak for the earth system but is placed in its cultural, technological, and political context. At the same time, political geologists are concerned with the vibrant, lively materiality of geology. They are interested in Earth’s capacity to act upon politics and create political cultures. A renewed attention to the agency of geology has resulted in a number of papers that stress the ‘geo’ in geopolitics—the grounded, material dimension that situates all and any politics. There has therefore been an uptick in scholarship on verticality, depth, and resource extraction that foregrounds the material agency of geological process. This has been further brought together with consideration of the multiple knowledge traditions that claim to know and represent geological material. The conventional distinctions between geology and spirituality, geological sciences and religion, organic and inorganic, have been questioned. Alternative modes of writing about geology and the sciences are being explored through performance, fiction, sculpture, and poetry. Political geological scholarship thus brings together a number of discussions about the intersections among knowledge, Earth, power and governance. What follows is a broad introduction and survey of the key formative works of political geology, histories of geological knowledge, theoretical preoccupations, and sites of interest to political geologists. The theory and sites sections are ordered alphabetically.

The article presents the analysis of the exogenous geological process activation hazards, namely karst, in the conditions of urbanization processes. The scale of geoecological problems is shown to be directly or indirectly determined by the scale of urbanization. The relevance of the research is associated with the study of the nature of changes in the expansion of karst rocks in regions with different levels of urbanization in the period 2001 – 2020. The main aim is to analyze the hazards of karst development in relation with the factors of urbanization processes in the regions of Ukraine based on the indicator method. The particular characteristics of the impact of urbanized territories on the initiation of natural disasters and geological hazards have been determined. The urbogenic load of the regions was assessed using determined and calculated earlier indicators of ecological and ecological-demographic urbanization. The assessment of the dependence between the hazard indicator of the spread of karst rocks and the indicator of ecological urbanization in the regional context has been carried out. It is shown that in the third part of the regions, the growing hazard levels of karst processes practically coincide with the growth of the ecological urbanization index. A nearly doubling of the area of karst terrains was noted during 2001 – 2020 in all administrative regions. The coefficient of expansion of karst territories for the specified period has been calculated. Four groups of regions were identified according to the increase in karst areas in comparison with the hazards of karst processes and the index of ecological-demographic urbanization. Expansion of open karst areas in the Transcarpathian, Odessa, Rivne, Kherson, Chernivtsi regions was noted. For this group of regions, a tendency to increase the areas of surface karst in accordance with an increase in the values of urbanization indicators has been established. This is due to the exploitation of natural territorial resources, changes in the nature of land use, depletion of vegetation cover, anthropogenic loads on the ground, and imbalances in the interaction of surface and underground waters in urbanized areas. Thus, the Ukraine’s regions with different urbogenic load are differentiated depending on the territorial indicator of the danger of karst terrains, as well as the dynamics of changes in the areas of karst rocks.

Desa Limbasari secara geografis terletak di Kecamatan Bobotsari Kabupaten Purbalingga. Desa Limbasari merupakan salah satu desa wisata yang baru di Kabupaten Purbalingga. Desa ini mempunyai potensi yang besar untuk dikembangkan sebagai destinasi wisata dalam segi wisata kebumian dan geoheritage. Daya tarik wisata yang ada berupa River Tubing, landscape pegunungan batuan gunung api yang terdapat batu jasper hijau �nogo sui�, dan situs kebudayaan prasejarah. Di samping itu keunikan budaya serta sejarah masyarakat juga menjadi daya tarik bagi masyarakat perkotaan. Tujuan dari pengabdian masyarakat adalah mengulas kelayakan geosite dan geomorphosite di Desa Limbasari sebagai sebuah solusi bagaimana memanfaatkan kekayaan geologi beserta berbagai dinamikanya untuk kegiatan wisata edukasi dan ekonomi yang berwawasan lingkungan. Metode yang digunakan adalah pemetaan potensi geologi sebagai kawasan wisata, inventarisasi pada lokasi yang mempunyai cagar budaya dan sejarah serta wawancara dengan pihak terkait dan studi literatur. Dari hasil kelayakan di kawasan wisata Limbasari mempunyai nilai kelayakan antara 47.5% - 73.5%. Dengan demikian, Kawasan Desa Wisata Limbasari, Kabupaten Purbalingga layak menjadi objek geowisata dengan aspek penilaian didasarkan pada nilai kuantifikasi berbagai keindahan antara alam dan proses geologi yang mengontrol terbentuknya obyek geowisata tersebut.Limbasari Village is geographically located in Bobotsari Subdistrict, Purbalingga Regency. Limbasari Village is one of the new tourism villages in Purbalingga Regency. This village has great potential to be developed as a tourist destination in terms of earth tourism and geoheritage. The tourist attractions are River Tubing, mountainous volcanic mountain landscape with green jasper stone "nogo sui", and prehistoric cultural sites. In addition, the cultural and historical uniqueness of the community is also an attraction for urban communities. The purpose of this study is to review the potential of Geotourism and geoheritage in the Village of Limbasari as a solution to how to utilize the rich geological and cultural sites along with various dynamics for educational activities that are environmentally friendly education and economy. The method used in this study is the mapping of geological potential as a tourist area, an inventory of locations that have cultural and historical reserves as well as interviews with relevant parties and literature studies. From the results of research in the tourist area Limbasari has a feasibility value between 47.5% - 73.5%. Thus, the Limbasari Tourism Village Area, Purbalingga Regency deserves to be a geotourism object with the assessment aspect based on the quantification value of various beauties between nature and the geological process that controls the formation of the geotourism object.
