Abstract Background Despite growing recognition of the importance of sex and gender considerations in health research, they are rarely integrated into research design and reporting. We sought to assess the integration of sex, as a biological attribute, and gender, as a socially constructed identity, in published reporting guidelines. Methods We conducted a systematic review of published reporting guidelines listed on the EQUATOR website (www.equator-nework.org) from inception until December 2018. We selected all reporting guidelines (original and extensions) listed in the EQUATOR library. We used EndNote Citation Software to build a database of the statements of each guideline identified as a "full bibliographic reference" and retrieved the full texts. Reviewers independently extracted the data on use of sex and gender terms from the checklist/abstract/main text of guidelines. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and narrative synthesis. Results A total of 407 reporting guidelines were included; they were published between 1995 and 2018. Of the 407 guidelines, 235 (57.7%) mentioned at least one of the sex- and gender-related words. In the checklist of the reporting guidelines (n = 363), “sex” and “gender” were mentioned in 50 (13.8%) and 40 (11%), respectively. Only one reporting guideline met our criteria (nonbinary, appropriate categorization, and non-interchangeability) for correct use of sex and gender concepts. Trends in the use of "sex" and "gender" in the checklists showed that the use of “sex” only started in 2003, while “gender” has been in use since 1996. Conclusions We assessed the integration of sex and gender in reporting guidelines based on the use of sex- and gender-related words. Our findings showed a low use and integration of sex and gender concepts and their incorrect use. Authors of reporting guidelines should reduce this gap for a better use of research knowledge. Chemical substances from theses are not widely accessible as searchable machine-readable formats. In this article, we describe our workflow for extracting, registering, and sharing chemical substances from the University of Alabama theses to enhance discovery. In total, 73 theses were selected for the project, resulting in about 3,000 substances registered using the IUPAC International Chemical Identifier and deposited in PubChem as either structure-data files or Simplified Molecular-Input Line-Entry System notations. In addition to substances being deposited in PubChem, an archive copy was also deposited in the University of Alabama Institutional Repository. The PubChem records for the substance depositions include the full bibliographic reference and link to the thesis full text or thesis metadata when the full text is not yet available. Excluding mixtures, we found that 40% of the shared substances were new to PubChem at the time of deposition. We conclude this article with a detailed discussion about our experiences, challenges, and recommendations for librarians and curators engaged in sharing chemical substance data from theses and similar documents.

In Brazilian law, the hearing can be an instrument of protection and promotion of human rights, makes it possible to eliminate the idea of impunity, with which it is seen mainly by lay people, and demonstrating that this institute is not synonymous with freedom or injustice, but a way of ensuring the fundamental laws guaranteed in the Federal Constitution of Brazil of 1988. It seeks to establish here a relationship between the researched theme and Human Rights, seeking to promote analyses on facts that occurred before the legalization of the Custody Hearing in Brazil and the changes that came with the establishment of this institute. It is a study based on forensic literature, international norms and treaties such as the American   Convention on Human Rights and Specific Laws dealing with the theme. In this sense, the research also develops by analyzing the different positions and identifies which are the constitutional principles that were commonly violated in view of the non-existence of the Custody Hearing. This research also develops the possibility of the Applicability of Article 37 §6 of the Federal Constitution of Brazil of 1988, as well as developed an investigation of the concept of general repercussion and its consequences, in view of the Supreme Court having presented such an understanding for the question. It is a bibliographic reference based on doctrines, treaties, articles, arranged in physical and digital libraries.

Objectives: To determine the existence of a pattern of women most frequently victims of physical violence in Brazil over a period of 10 years. Methods: Data from the DATASUS platform were collected on the records of domestic, sexual and other violence, registered by physical violence against female persons between 2009 and 2018. Data from the Violence and Accident Surveillance System on characteristics of the violent act against women were also collected. The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics was also used to collect data from the National Household Sample Survey (PNAD). For bibliographic reference, the descriptors “Domestic and Sexual Violence against Women”, “Domestic Violence” and “Domestic Violence” were searched on virtual data basis and Brazilian articles that were published within the period of the present study were included. Results: There is a continuous and rapid increase in the first half of the study period, with a slight deceleration between 2014 and 2016, followed by a new jump in records from 2017. As for race, the largest numbers are white women, 348428, and browns, 308902. Black women represent 68.25% of the total records of domestic, sexual and other violence, with 8.3% of the total records of physical violence. Conclusion: It is possible to estimate that black women are not making complaints or possibly are not being seen with due care to make them. As it is data that depends on denunciation, which is often not carried out, the results need consideration regarding assertiveness and reflection of reality.

The article aims to address the social function of university libraries, in particular, the initiatives of the Irmão José Otão Main Library of PUCRS. Therefore, it discusses the Marist vision in which the Library is inserted, the practices adopted in serving the university and external community, the cultural actions developed, as well as the partnerships that promote humanization. The bibliographic reference also links the sustainable development proposed by Agenda 2030 with the role of libraries. It is concluded that the university library plays a broader role than just serving the academic community. By promoting equal access to information and practices that spread culture, this institution contributes to the development of conscientious and engaged citizens.
