The Administrative Anatomy of Failure: The League of Nations Disarmament Section, 1919–1925

This article investigates the creation and workings of the Disarmament Section of the League of Nations Secretariat. It shows that the Disarmament Section was an outlier of the Secretariat: supressed by the Great Powers, it had less autonomy than other parts of the administration, which from an early stage limited its bureaucratic practice to the production of information. This bureaucratic production created unreliable factual foundations for negotiations and unrealistic public expectations. Thus, the article argues that the troubled birth and administrative strangling of the Disarmament Section of the Secretariat should play a significant role in our understanding of the broader collapse of general disarmament. By making this argument, the article breaks new ground by introducing failure as an analytical category to understand the role and practices of international public administrations.

How much does quality matter: the value of data

In a world of competing priorities, accurate production of information on the scale of the injury burden and the effectiveness of prevention-orientated interventions and policies is important; hence, data quality matters. This article surveys the literature about what is known about data quality in the injury field and developments to improve the quality and usability of information, particularly through triangulation of data sources, data linkage and unlocking the potential for more deeply phenotyped data through natural language processing.

Opportunity Research of using Network Project Groups in Organizing the Production of IT- Products and the Principles of Motivation for the Effectiveness of the Group's Functioning

The article shows the relevance of creating network project groups in the organization of production of Information Technology (IT)-products. The goal of the study was identified, the decomposition of this goal was carried out, and other components of the logical structure of the study were identified. The hypothesis of the study is the following: when transforming an ordinary project group into a network one, characteristics are acquired that ensure the success of the project group and increase the competitiveness of IT-companies, using appropriate methods of motivation. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that the relationship between the use of the network design approach and the company's competitiveness in the implementation of complex and non-standard projects in the IT-companies’ organization of production is revealed. Features of employees’ motivation of such divisions are revealed and fundamentally new solutions in the field of employees’ motivation of IT-companies are defined.

THE IMPACT OF COVID-19 ON THE JOURNALISTIC NARRATIVE: the production of content from Folha de S. Paulo

This article seeks to highlight the importance of the social context for the production of information in society, thus, it is essential to understand the impacto f Covid-19, in Brazilian journalistic production. To this end, it makes a comparative analysis between the Folha de S. Paulo covers from April 2019 and April 2020, to understand how daily life has guided journalism and to debate about a new order of mediation that involves the various actors of communication , interfering in the construction of meanings, ranging from the production of content to the appropriation of information.

Many economic sectors are characterized by the production of information whose analysis enables the creation of content for different audiences. After analyzing ads on the global job and recruitment sites was identified the need for narrative professionals in various business sectors with qualifications for software, multiple platforms, and multimedia content.

Publicizing Arbitrage

How does greater public disclosure of arbitrage activity and informed trading affect price efficiency? To answer this, we exploit rule amendments in U.S. securities markets, which impose a higher frequency of public disclosure of short positions. Higher public disclosure can hurt the production of information and deteriorate efficiency, or it can be beneficial by mitigating the limits to arbitrage and diffusing arbitrageurs’ information faster. With more frequent disclosure, information encapsulated within short interest is incorporated into prices faster, improving price efficiency. We find important reductions in short sellers’ horizon risk and increases in short sales with the rule amendments.

Photographic Image, Credibility, and Consumption of Tourism in the Digital Era

This chapter seeks to bring the communication field and tourism closer together. In this sense, the authors use photographic images and photography through authors from different areas. They believe that hospitality and tourism as a transdisciplinary field deserve a wide and transversal discussion. In addition, they seek with this work to discuss the mediatized society, with the instantaneousness of the “digital world” in technological devices, within the context of tourism communication. Likewise, it seeks to promote a discussion about the importance of selecting the right tools in the strategy to promote the tourist photographic image with regard to the theme of marketing and communication, in the sense of reaching certain audiences (consumers, or not, of the tourist activity). Finally, it concludes that the use of new technologies by tourists during their stay may increase the credibility of the information disclosed because tourists, as well as consumers, have an important role in the production of information.

Analisis Kontrol Aplikasi Untuk Menghasilkan Keakuratan Dalam Kelengkapan Informasi Pada Siklus Pendapatan Adorable Projects

Purpose - Application control is control in the company's business processes to prevent, detect, and correct transaction errors and irregularities. Application control will produce information needed by users so that the accuracy and completeness of information must be considered related to aspects of quality information. The purpose of application control is to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the information generated by the application system.Methodology - Descriptive study, this method compiled to collect data that describe the characteristics of a person, events, or situations. Data collections and research information were obtained from Adorable Projects as the object of research.Findings - The author drew the conclusions that the company's application control has not been fully adequate, that has caused that the production of information is not fully accurate and complete because there are several components has not implemented by the company. The Company only implemented 25 components from 31 components of application control. Although it is not fully adequate, the application control can still reduce risks in the application system.Value –Fully applying application control’s component on company business will provide accuracy and completeness of information that would be useful for increasing profit and competitive advantage on company’s revenue cycle. Dinâmica de participação social na construção coletiva de informação no campo museal: estudo de caso dos museus na Wikipédia no âmbito do Instituto Brasileiro de Museus | Dynamics of social participation in the collective construction of information in the museum field: case study of the museums in Wikipedia under the Brazilian Institute of Museums

RESUMO O presente artigo identifica e descreve dados relativos à dinâmica de participação coletiva e colaborativa na produção de informações sobre os museus brasileiros na Wikipédia. Utilizando como amostra os museus administrados diretamente pelo Instituto Brasileiro de Museus (Ibram), foi realizada a coleta de dados da Wikipédia utilizando o software XTools. Dessa forma o presente artigo busca demonstrar o potencial da Wikipédia como fonte de pesquisa, principalmente no que tange à produção de informações sobre os museus brasileiros na internet. Os resultados identificam que 20 museus possuem página na Wikipédia, tendo sido editadas por um total de 555 usuários que realizaram um total de 1.108 edições nas páginas. Identifica-se grande desigualdade na dinâmica de produção de informação nas páginas e uma expressiva rede de editores realizando ações de curadoria.Palavras-chave: Wikipédia; Museus Brasileiros; Fonte de Informação; Humanidades Digitais; Ibram.ABSTRACT This article identifies and describes data on the dynamics of collective and collaborative participation in the production of information about Brazilian museums on Wikipedia.
