Considering that the processes of PEEK discoloration caused by either intrinsic or extrinsic factors require elucidation, the aim of this study was to investigate the long-term effect of the combined action of ageing and immersing solutions on the optical properties and color stability of PEEK material, related to surface processing (polishing or glazing). (2) Methods: This study aims to determine the influence of different ageing and staining protocols on optical properties, color changes, and surface roughness of a reinforced PEEK material (bioHPP, Bredent, Senden, Germany). For ageing, specimens were submitted to 5000 cycles in a 55 °C bath and a 5 °C bath filled with distilled water. For staining, thermal cycling was performed in a hot coffee bath (55 °C) and a bath filled with distilled water (37 °C) and in a cold juice bath (5 °C) and a bath filled with distilled water (37 °C). Translucency (TP) and opalescence (OP) parameters were determined, the total color change value (ΔΕ*) was calculated, specimens’ surface roughness was analyzed, and statistical analyses were performed. (3) Results: The mean TP values of the studied samples were in the interval of 1.25–3.60, which is lower than those reported for natural teeth or other aesthetic restoration materials. The OP values of PEEK were registered in the range of 0.27–0.75, being also lower than those of natural teeth or other aesthetic restoration materials. OP has a very strong positive relationship with TP. The mean registered Ra values for all subgroups were below 0.13 µm. Artificial ageing and staining in hot coffee proved to increase the roughness values. (4) Conclusions: The glazing of PEEK has a favorable effect on surface roughness and opalescence, irrespective of the artificial ageing or staining protocols. Artificial ageing damages the color stability and roughness of PEEK, regardless of surface processing, and decreases the translucency and opalescence of glazed surfaces. Immersion in hot coffee leads to perceivable discolorations.

Abstract Multi axis CNC machine tool has good linkage processing effect. Through the application of integral impeller in CNC machine tools, to improve the adaptability of CNC machine tools to complex surface processing parts, to improve the accuracy of multi axis CNC machine tools. The first part of this paper introduces the integral impeller and its machining characteristics; the second part introduces the basic NC machining process of integral impeller; the third part discusses the application of impeller in multi axis CNC machine tools from the creation of guide track, the simulation of integral impeller, software processing and generation. The purpose is to provide some reference for the processing and production of integral impeller.

Abstract Atmospheric pressure air plasma is an attractive technology because it is easy to set up and handle, cheap, and safe. In this paper, a brief review on air plasma configuration and the results of air plasma is presented. One of the important properties of any plasma treatment is the generation of reactive atom species such as oxygen(O), nitrogen(N) also known as RONS, and other ions molecules particles. Air plasma has been found to have the same effect when treating surfaces. Surface modification, hydrophilicity, and decontamination effect were observed when materials are exposed to air plasma. The advancement of air plasma technology will improve the surface processing technology by reducing its operating cost.

What people perceive when they interact with technologies are not the features and functionalities of the technology but rather the behaviors it affords them. Affordance perception determines how organizational information technology (IT) is used by employees and the benefits they provide to organizations and their members. In this article, we explain how employees who pursue different personal goals and use various learning strategies come to perceive different IT affordances. We identify three distinct pathways: (1) performance-avoidance goals are positively associated with surface processing, which leads to perceptions of common in-role IT affordances; (2) performance-approach goals are positively associated with surface processing and effort regulation and these learning strategies lead to perceptions of common and specialized in-role IT affordances; and (3) mastery goals are associated with deep processing, effort regulation, and peer learning, which are positively associated with perceptions of specialized in-role and extra-role IT affordances. By identifying the different pathways to perceived affordances, the article identifies potential interventions that can help managers steer employees toward certain affordances and away from other, less desirable affordances.

To predict fatigue life more accurately, we consider the relationship between static toughness and fatigue toughness in fatigue failure process, the numerical model of total dissipated plastic strain energy (TDPSE) and fatigue life is established. And considering the effect of surface roughness and surface processing coefficient on fatigue life, the life prediction method of TDPSE is modified. In addition, the fatigue life of Non-Masing and Masing materials are predicted by TDPSE and modified TDPSE method, respectively. Compared with TDPSE method, the life estimated by the modified TDPSE method are closer to the test results, and the modified TDPSE method lays a technical foundation for the development of mechanical components.
