This paper deals with the stress analysis of the launcher pod based on optimization of its configuration and weight without compromising its strength and stiffness. The launcher pod assembly is a complex fabricated structure, which is subjected to a variety of dynamic loads during firing of rockets. A series of finite element simulations reveal the critical location of the pod for different loading conditions based on the stress magnitude, which helps to optimize its weight and configuration of the launcher pod. It has been observed that the optimized weight of the given launcher pod after modification of materials and configuration, with the provided materials, loading, and boundary conditions, is reduced by 36.27% (without launcher tubes and rockets) against the initial weight of the launcher pod.

This paper deals with high frequency analysis of spiral inductors, used in microelectronics circuits, to optimize their configuration. Software developed, designed, and implemented by the authors for nano and micrometre spiral inductor high frequency analysis, named ABSIF, is presented in this paper. ABSIF determines the inductance, quality factor, and electrical parameters for square, hexagonal, octagonal, and circular spiral inductors and their configuration optimization for energy efficiency. ABSIF is a good tool for spiral inductor design optimization in high frequency applications and takes into account the imposed technological limits and/or the designers’ constraints. A set of spiral inductors are considered and analysed for high frequency values using ABSIF, and the results are presented in the paper. The validation of ABSIF was completed by comparing the results with those obtained using a similar commercial software, Sonnet LiteTM, which is dedicated to high frequency electromagnetic analysis.

Abstract This paper presents the kinematic calibration of a 4-DOF high-speed parallel robot. In order to improve the calibration effect by decreasing the influence of the unobservable disturbance variables introduced by error measurement, a measurement configuration optimization method is proposed. Configurations are iteratively selected inside the workspace by a searching algorithm, then the selection results are evaluated through an index associated with the condition number of the identification Jacobian matrix, finally the number of optimized configurations are determined. Since the searching algorithm has been shown to be sensitive to local minima, a meta-heuristic method has been applied to decrease this sensibility. To verify the effectiveness of the algorithm and kinematic calibration, computation validations, pose error estimations and experiments are performed. The results show that the identification accuracy and calibration effect can be significantly improved by using the optimized configurations.

Abstract Aiming at the problems of large short-term fluctuation, strong randomness and difficulty to consume of renewable energy generation, it is an important way to integrate abundant wind and photovoltaic (PV) power into hydropower stations to promote the consumption of renewable energy sources (RES). A hydro-wind-PV and energy storage multi-energy complementary microgrid (MECM) model is proposed to meet the demand of load supply and RES consumption. Firstly, according to the characteristics of load and resource endowment, the MECM is established in a hydropower station. Secondly, according to the two different objectives of load self-sufficiency and RES consumption, the mathematical model for the capacity configuration optimization of MECM was proposed. Finally, combined with the practical case study, the effectiveness and practicability of this scheme are verified, and different configuration schemes are discussed based on different objectives.
