Abstract Apple cactus consists of 2 types, long spines (Cereus jamacaru) and short spines (C. peruvianus); both are self-incompatible. So that only artificial crosses between species that produce fruit. But some fruits are found from natural crosses of long spines. The three results of these crosses, long spines with short spines; short spines with long spines; and natural crosses on long spines, have produced F2 seedlings. The purpose of this study was to study genetic diversity based on the RAPD of the F2 seedlings. DNA isolation was carried out using Doyle and Doyle method modified on the addition of Polivinilpirolidon. The RAPD technique uses 3 primers: OPD-11, OPM-10, and OPN-5. Analysis of genetic diversity using Simple Matching coefficient using NTSys 2.02 software. Based on the three primers, each F2 offspring had genetic diversity but was grouped according to the parent. Showed that the three RAPD primers were effective for markers of genetic diversity in apple cactus.

Music production is one of the job markets that has gained popularity around the world, including Kenya. Universities have come up with music production programmes in order to prepare bachelor of music learners for this viable music job market opportunity. However, it is the observation of many studies that universities are not preparing job-ready graduates. With the advance of the digital era that is seamlessly permeating every sector of the music job market, attention needs to be given to the music production programs in Kenya.  This study purposed to establish the relevance of university music curricula to the requirements of music production job markets in Kenya. Elliot’s (2005) praxial theory underpinned the study.  The results revealed that music production curriculum of university X did not meet most of the job market requirements while that of Y met most of the requirements. The Simple Matching Coefficient (SMC) of university X was 0.59 while that for university Y was 1.00. This finding revealed that the music production university music curricula could not be entirely termed as 'irrelevant', but it depended on individual universities. The recommendation was that university music schools should revise and restructure their music curricula to accurately reflect the music production job market in Kenya to compete favourably, locally and internationally.

One of the applications of technology in psychology is a system for determination of interest and talent systems. The system of determining interests and talents in this case can be applied in determining professional recommendations based on the interests and talents of a high school student who will continue to lectures or jobs in accordance with their fields. A person's interests and talents can be known from habits, preferences and hobbies. The Case-based Reasoning system created in this study uses cases from respondents which is collected using a questionnaire containing some questions about a person's interest in. To match new cases with old cases stored on a case basis, the authors use the Simple Matching Coefficient similarity method. The system will recommend a suitable work after the user inputs his preferences and habits. based on the results of the tests conducted, it was found that the system had produced the same calculation between the values generated by the system and manual calculations. While based on testing that conducted on data test, it was found that the system was able to provide an accuracy value of 83.33%.

This paper proposes one of approach for diagnosing faults in motorcycle by using Case-Based Reasoning Approach (CBR). CBR process through four stages consist of Retrieve, Reuse, Revise and Retain. The calculation of equation have been done by Simple Matching Coefficient (SMC). Diagnosing faults in motorcycle was started by tracking initial indication that occur in the motorcycle, then ended when the solution has been found with similar of existing case. The result shown that the most often problem after diagnosis was the machine unable to start/difficult to turn on with the Carburetor Attribute Weight achieve the highest percentage of attributes. Keyword: CBR, Diagnosis, Motorcycle, SMC

ABSTRACTIt is often assumed that a fundamental property of language is the arbitrariness of the relationship between sound and meaning. Sound symbolism, which refers to non-arbitrary mapping between the sound of a word and its meaning, contradicts this assumption. Sensitivity to sound symbolism has been studied through crossmodal correspondences (CCs) between auditory pseudowords (e.g. ‘loh-moh’) and visual shapes (e.g. a blob). We used representational similarity analysis to examine the relationships between physical stimulus parameters and perceptual ratings that varied on dimensions of roundedness and pointedness, for a range of auditory pseudowords and visual shapes. We found that perceptual ratings of these stimuli relate to certain physical features of both the visual and auditory domains. Representational dissimilarity matrices (RDMs) of parameters that capture the spatial profile of the visual shapes, such as the simple matching coefficient and Jaccard distance, were significantly correlated with those of the visual ratings. RDMs of certain acoustic parameters of the pseudowords, such as the temporal fast Fourier transform (FFT) and spectral tilt, that reflect spectral composition, as well as shimmer and speech envelope that reflect aspects of amplitude variation over time, were significantly correlated with those of the auditory perceptual ratings. RDMs of the temporal FFT (acoustic) and the simple matching coefficient (visual) were significantly correlated. These findings suggest that sound-symbolic CCs are related to basic properties of auditory and visual stimuli, and thus provide insights into the fundamental nature of sound symbolism and how this might evoke specific impressions of physical meaning in natural language.
