This paper seeks to explore the pragmatic functions of the Spanish-induced loanwords, or hispanicisms, used in the novel Death in the Afternoon by Hemingway. These borrowed words have been manually extracted and through the software kit AntConc, each occurrence or word token was examined to determine the prevalent pragmatic motivation in each text string: ‘ideational’, ‘expressive’ or 'textual’. Findings suggest that unadapted borrowings are most widespread, and the vast majority of them correspond to ideationally or referentially motivated loanwords. The assimilation of new referents (i.e. nonexistent in English cultural frames), particularly those related with bullfighting jargon, is linked to the general stylistics of travelogues. Expressive and interpersonal motivations are less frequent but they might reflect the vernacularization of travel writing and the extended use of euphemisms through lexical borrowing. Alternatively, textual motivations are regularly found through the use of synomyms, co-hyponyms and paraphrases, which are intended to ensure text clarity and coherence.

Dark photons and mirror matter are well-motivated dark matter candidates. It is possible that both of them arose during the compactification and symmetry breaking scenario of the heterotic [Formula: see text] string theory and are related to each other. In this case, dark photons can become a natural portal into the mirror world. Unfortunately, the expected magnitude of the induced interactions of ordinary matter with mirror matter is too small to be of phenomenological interest.

A virtual[Formula: see text]-string [Formula: see text] consists of a closed, oriented surface [Formula: see text] and a collection [Formula: see text] of [Formula: see text] oriented, closed curves immersed in [Formula: see text]. We consider virtual [Formula: see text]-strings up to virtual homotopy, i.e. stabilizations, destabilizations, stable homeomorphism, and homotopy. Recently, Cahn proved that any virtual 1-string can be virtually homotoped to a minimally filling and crossing-minimal representative by monotonically decreasing both genus and the number of self-intersections. We generalize her result to the case of non-parallel virtual [Formula: see text]-strings. Cahn also proved that any two crossing-irreducible representatives of a virtual 1-string are related by isotopy, Type 3 moves, stabilizations, destabilizations, and stable homeomorphism. Kadokami claimed that this held for virtual [Formula: see text]-strings in general, but Gibson found a counterexample for 5-strings. We show that Kadokami’s statement holds for non-parallel [Formula: see text]-strings and exhibit a counterexample for general virtual 3-strings.

The inventor figures succeeded in contributing to people's lives and making people's lives developed with the findings of the inventor figures, but there are still many people who do not know and know the inventor figures, people only know the objects found by the inventor figures but do not know who the characters find the objects. that thing. The introduction of the inventor character is one of the reference materials that can be used to introduce the inventor character. In this day and age, android-based inventor character recognition applications are very efficient to use. In making a character recognition application, strings can be implemented for the word search process. String can be interpreted as an approach how to find the pattern of arrangement of string characters in other strings or part of the body of text. String has several algorithms, one of which is the Sequential Search algorithm where this algorithm is a very simple search algorithm that is carried out by comparing data one by one from a predetermined data set (Array) until the data is completed (found) or there is no match (not found). ). This inventor character recognition application is designed by utilizing the setudio android software. So that the application is easier to use and can be used independently anywhere and anytime.

This paper is aimed to analyse font and colour as non-verbal and paralingual components which have the capacity to influence and manipulate recipients of a message. On the basis of an extensive body of illustrative material, it has been established that by the use of colour variation, a single text fragment may be interpreted in several different ways, and may also be perceived differently by men and by women. It is demonstrated that colour and font characteristics are not exclusively graphic shells whose function is merely to record an oral statement in writing. They are semantically significant and multifunctional. It has been determined that font and colour are form-creating elements, which make possible the graphic reproduction of objects in everyday use, objects relating to reality and actuality. Variation in font and colour enable us to hypothesize that the mass media communication space is now characterized by a type of linguistic play utilizing these traits so as to render possible the projection of multiple-reading promotional texts. They also permit an economy in terms of space because of the fact that font techniques can perform formative and content functions simultaneously. Based on an experiment involving 60 participants, 30 of whom were male and 30 female, it was found that the information encoded in colour and font graphics shells is not difficult to perceive and to decipher. However, the survey found that women are more likely to perceive that information, although the difference in perception is not striking. When  asked whether a sample of illustrative material stirred an appetite by using stylized fonts consisting of foods to convey a food-related message, 74 % of men and 37% of women in both articles answered in the positive, which in our study confirms the claim that food advertising promotes appetite arousal. The study also showed that most women who read the information perceive it holistically–their attention is not attracted solely by verbal and nonverbal components. On the other hand, only half of the men surveyed saw it as a whole, and almost a third of them initially noticed the verbal components first. Most participants in the experiment claimed that it took them from 5 to 10 seconds to realize that a single message could be read in several different ways. The participants who took part confirm that a single text string can be interpreted in multiple ways due to the font and colour attributes that are utilized in forming them.

IntroductionPrivacy-preserving Record Linkage (PPRL) is a record linkage technique that can increase the security of personal information. PPRL uses techniques of either hashing identifiers (where exact matches are required) or Blooming identifiers (where partial matches are of interest before they are provided for linkage. Objectives and ApproachWe use LinXmart software to evaluate performance of PPRL linkage compared to linkage using clear text identifiers. The test linkage dataset is one that is routinely linked (N=2,672,257) at our linkage centre. The population spine (N=8,440,442) includes a record for every person who has resided in British Columbia, Canada over the past 30 years. Weights were determined using LinXmart’s implementation of the Expectation Maximization (EM) algorithm. For both linkages, accepted links were the highest-weighted candidate link with a weight above the threshold suggested by EM estimation. We compare linkage rates and quality and differences in weight and threshold estimations between clear-text and PPRL linkages ResultsClear-text and PPRL methods resulted in 97% and 90% linkage rates, respectively. Approximately 67% of records in the linked datasets contained a nominally unique ID. Records with a unique ID linked at higher rates (>99% for both clear-text and PPRL) while the linkage rate for records missing the ID differed substantially (92% /70% for clear-text/PPRL). Comparing PPRL linkage to the clear-text linkage, we obtain F-measures of 0.99 and 0.80 for records with and without the unique ID, respectively. Conclusion / ImplicationsLinkage performance may be attributable to differences in comparison operators between the two methods. Bloomed fields compared with Dice coefficient allow for partial matching but may not be as sensitive as clear-text string comparisons. Numerical comparisons in PPRL are exact matches while clear-text comparisons allow for more sophisticated matching. Further refinements in PPRL are being explored to improve these results.

Background: There are different methodologies for DNA comparison based on two string algorithms, which are dependent on crisp logical principles, where there is no room for verbal (linguistic) uncertainty. These are successfully applicable procedures in DNA bioinformatics researches even by taking into consideration probabilistic random variability components based on the probability distribution functions of various types. Objective: The main purpose of this paper is to review first briefly all available DNA string matching methodologies that are based on crisp logic and then to suggest a new method based on the fuzzy logic rules and application. Methods: There are different methodologies for DNA comparison based on two string algorithms, which are dependent on crisp logical principles, where there is no room for verbal (linguistic) uncertainty. These are successfully applicable procedures in DNA bioinformatics researchers even by taking into consideration probabilistic random variability components based on the probability distribution functions of various types. Results: Fuzzy number representation of each gene implies some sort of uncertainty or unhealthiness in some or all the genes. Their better identifications can be achieved on the basis of fuzzy numbers with different membership degrees, which imply the unhealthiness or healthiness of the genes and their collective behaviors. Conclusion: After the development of fuzzy number representation of the text string coupled with crisp pattern string their relationships are searched at different shift operations, and hence, the possibility of defaulters are identified in the text string with a certain degree of membership.

A virtual[Formula: see text]-string is a chord diagram with [Formula: see text] core circles and a collection of arrows between core circles. We consider virtual [Formula: see text]-strings up to virtual homotopy, compositions of flat virtual Reidemeister moves on chord diagrams. Given a virtual 1-string [Formula: see text], Turaev associated a based matrix that encodes invariants of the virtual homotopy class of [Formula: see text]. We generalize Turaev’s method to associate a multistring based matrix to a virtual [Formula: see text]-string, addressing an open problem of Turaev and constructing similar invariants for virtual homotopy classes of virtual [Formula: see text]-strings.

String matching is the process of finding all occurrences of a query or called a pattern into a string or text. String matching is a string or word matching that is used in the problem to find the pattern of string characters in a sentence. String matching is a technique in determining the accuracy of a given text pattern. Attractions in North Sumatra is one of the most popular tourist destinations in North Sumatra, Lake Toba because of the beautiful scenery of many outsiders or foreigners also visit the tour. Lack of information about North Sumatra tourism objects, the authors designed a tourism catalog to help the community in finding the latest attractions in North Sumatra such as natural attractions, historical tourism, religious tourism and many more can we visit the attractions around North Sumatra. The Rabin-Karp algorithm is a hashing function to find patterns in a string. In searching a travel catalog with the Rabin-Karp algorithm, it is very suitable to use because the Rabin-Krap algorithm is used to search for a word contained in a travel search. So that the testing phase requires eclipse software in the design of making travel catalogs. Keywords: String Matching, Attraction, Tourism Catalog, Rabin-Karp Algorithm, Eclipse

Abstract The research question addressed here is whether the semantic value implicit in environmental terms in an activity description text string, can be translated into economic value for firms in the construction sector. We address this question using a relatively new applied statistical method called Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA). We first identify a satellite register of firms in construction sector that engage in some form of environmental work. From these we construct a vocabulary of meaningful words. Then, for each firm in turn on this satellite register we take its activity description text string and process this string with LDA. This softly-classifies the descriptions on the satellite register into just seven environmentally relevant topics. With this seven-topic classification we proceed to extract a statistically meaningful weight of evidence associated with environmental terms in each activity description. This weight is applied to the associated firm’s overall output value recorded on our national Business Register to arrive at a supply side estimate of the firm’s EGSS value. On this basis we find the EGSS estimate for construction in Ireland in 2013 is about EURO 229m. We contrast this estimate with estimates from other countries obtained by demand side methods and show it compares satisfactorily, thereby enhancing its credibility. Our method also has the advantage that it provides a breakdown of EGSS output by EU environmental classifications (CEPA/CReMA) as these align closely to discovered topics. We stress the success of this application of LDA relies greatly on our small vocabulary which is constructed directly from the satellite register.
