The settlement of people in Lachin district that located in the foothills of the Lesser Caucasus dates back to ancient times. The settlements of the district were built mainly in accordance with tribal relations. The construction of villages in the area was mainly divided into mountainous, foothill, hill-side and plain types according to the relief of the region. On the whole, since Lachin district is located in a mountainous area, the construction of villages here was also different: mainly, the houses in the district were built far apart, mostly scattered; villages with hut dwellings and those with dwellings built compact, closer to each other. The newly built bines (nomad camps or isolated farmsteads) were named after those who built them first. Although the main occupation of the district population was animal husbandry, they were also engaged in gardening, forestry and beekeeping. Archaeological and ethnographic investigations conducted in the district, clarified that the population were engaged in many handicraft areas (pottery, stone carving, metal working, etc.). At the same time, the settlements, grave monuments, churches and tombs and bridges of the district were comprehensively studied. The district located in a mountainous area, covers one town, one settlement and 125 villages.

One of the most challenging keys to understand COVID-19 evolution is to have a measure on those mild cases which are never tested because their few symptoms are soft and/or fade away soon. The problem is not only that they are difficult to identify and test, but also that it is believed that they may constitute the bulk of the cases and could be crucial in the pandemic equation. We present a novel and simple algorithm to extract the number of these mild cases by correlating a COVID-line phone calls to reported cases in given districts. The key assumption is to realize that, being a highly contagious disease, the number of calls by mild cases should be proportional to the number of reported cases. Whereas a background of calls not related to infected people should be proportional to the district population. We present the plain mathematics of the method and as a working example we apply it to Buenos Aires Province (Argentina), where it is being currently used. The implementation of this algorithm by other regions would be straightforward and would provide compelling information to the corresponding Health Care Administration.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most common cancer and the fourth major cause of cancer deaths globally; in Malaysia, CRC is the second most common cancer in both males and females. Low awareness of cancer delays help-seeking and contributes to late presentation, poor detection and survival. Aim: We aim to investigate the level of colorectal cancer awareness and beliefs among the Gombak district population of Malaysia as part of a larger study designed to evaluate a cancer awareness-raising campaign. Methods: A survey of colorectal cancer awareness was conducted in Rawang (Gombak district, Selangor) between January and March 2018. This district is representative of a mix of ethnicities, age groups, education levels and income groups. A total of 4000 households were selected randomly from a list of all households by the Government Department of Statistics Malaysia to attain a sample size of 730 adults as indicated by our power calculation and taking potential refusals into account. Trained enumerators randomly selected eligible adults aged over 40 years old from each household and conducted an interview that included sociodemographic information as well as the Bowel Cancer Awareness Measure (CAM), the Attitudes and Beliefs about Cancer questionnaire (ABC) and the Champion Health Belief Model Scale (CHBMS) which were validated in Malaysia. Results: Data collection for this part of the larger study was completed in March. Currently, we are cleaning and entering the survey data into a database in preparation for statistical analysis including χ2 tests of association and logistic regression. The results of the analysis will be presented at the conference. Conclusion: This analysis will provide the first profile of awareness and beliefs about colorectal cancer among the Gombak district population of Malaysia.
