The paper aims to indicate the duration and intensity of the COVID-19 epidemic in Poland. To achieve this goal, the SIR interval model was used. The study was based on data from the Central Statistical Office, Hopkins University, and the Institute of Global Health at the University of Geneva. Based on the analysis results, it was established that the prognosis of the epidemic’s course largely depends on the size of the adopted R virus reproduction coefficient. The higher the coefficient, the more rapid the predicted course of the epidemic, the shorter the duration, and the greater the number of infected. And vice versa: the smaller the coefficient, the milder its course, the longer its duration, and the smaller the number of infected. For this reason, it is important to accurately assess the intensity of the epidemic’s development measured by the virus renewal rate, depending on the nature and intensity of interpersonal contacts. Perhaps in a given country different values of the coefficient for urbanized and rural areas should be used.

In the present study, ascorbic acid’s or Vitamin C’s influence (VC) in inhibition of SARS-CoV-2 virus reproduction was investigated. Gaussian 09 with a basis set of 6-311G (d, p), MGL tools, DSV, and LigPlus software were used. According to the Total Electron Density (TED) and Millikan charges, the active sites for adsorption were determined. Further, the docking study had clearly revealed the role of VC in inhibition of the virus reproduction in accordance with binding energy (Eb) and ligand efficiency (LE). The vitamin’s interaction with the virus’s spikes may limit its replication or provide the immune system sufficient time to recognize the infection, which enhances the possibility of producing appropriate antibodies.

The review considers the nature of clinical and pathological disorders caused by highly pathogenic coronaviruses in the human body, analyzes the causes of systemic damage to various organs and tissues, the strategy of virus reproduction and the associated syndrome of cytokine reactivity with the development of specific immunodeficiency at the molecular level. The most developed approaches to the targeted therapy of cytokine reactivity syndrome and SARS including elements of theranostics — monitoring of molecular targets for targeted therapy — are described. An example of an innovative bioengineering technology associated with the reprogramming of cells of the primary "echelon of defense" with the ability to endow them with highly specific skills of directed destruction of cells infected with a virus is given.

The ability of the Auricularia auricular-judae extract to suppress the reproduction of the influenza virus was studied. It was shown that the index of the therapeutic activity of the extract is comparable to that of commercial preparations Tamiflu and Remantadine.

Significance Coronavirus policy has been hampered by intense infighting in Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s coalition government, undermining public support for him. The country is still seeing around 2,000 new cases daily, but the virus reproduction rate has fallen to an estimated 0.63. Impacts Even with a phased exit, the second lockdown will boost unemployment and may cause many small and medium-sized businesses to fail. Until a vaccine is available, further lockdowns and related measures are likely to be necessary. Deteriorating public trust, especially among the ultra-Orthodox (Haredi) minority, threatens the effectiveness of future measures. The lack of a permanent police commissioner means deputies will tread cautiously with Netanyahu’s government over lockdown enforcement.

The genomes of RNA viruses contain a variety of RNA sequences and structures that regulate different steps in virus reproduction. Events that are controlled by RNA elements include (i) the translation of viral proteins, (ii) the replication of viral RNA genomes, and (iii) the transcription of viral subgenomic mRNAs. Studies of members of the family Tombusviridae, which possess plus-strand RNA genomes, have revealed novel ways in which the RNA genome structure is utilized to control different viral processes. Recent advances in our understanding of RNA-based viral regulation in select tombusvirids will be presented.
