<p><em>Religion is a means for humans to connect with God, this relationship is full of mysticism, both introversive mysticism and extraversive mysticism. The Panugrahan Dalem text is one of the literary texts that contains the teachings of extraversive mysticism, namely the teachings of mysticism "outside" from within which refers to the forces of the universe and so on. The method used in this study uses a qualitative method with a literature study. The implementation of extraversive mysticism in the Panugrahan Dalem text lies in the worship of Sang Hyang Pancamahabhuta which consists of Yeh Nyom or Sang Bhuta Agasati, Getih or Sang Bhuta Mrajapati, placenta or Sang Bhuta Banaspati and Lamad or Vernix Caseosa or Sang Bhuta Banaspatiraja which is related to Kanda Pat teachings through chanting of mantras, the use of both the Wianjana script and the Modre script as well as the use and giving of offerings that function to increase magic and kawisesan. There is also the concept of mantras and scripts that are present as a means for treatment or Usada as the implementation of the Extraversive mysticism teachings.</em></p>

According to WHO a neonate, is a child under 28 days of age. The neonatal skin changes show a wide geographic and ethnic variation. It is important to know the pattern of dermatoses prevalent among Indian children during the neonatal period. The current study was conducted to study the prevalence of neonatal dermatoses in southern Assam and to study relationship of neonatal dermatoses with maturity and birth weight of neonates.150 neonates who developed cutaneous lesions over a period of one year were examined. Proportion of each dermatoses and prevalence ratio were calculated using relevant formulae. Out of the 150 neonates, 66 % neonates had transient physiological changes, 11.33% had congenital disorders and genodermatoses, 4.67% had iatrogenic complications, 30% had acquired skin diseases, 8% had neonatal infections and 2% had other miscellaneous diseases. The five most common dermatoses overall were diaper dermatitis (17.33%), miliaria (14%), erythema toxicum neonatorum (13.33%), infantile seborrheic dermatitis (12.67%), sebaceous gland hyperplasia (6%) and Mongolian spot (6%). Low birth weight babies had predilection for vernix caseosa, sucking blisters, candidiasis, miniature puberty, caput succedaneum, cephalohematoma, physiological jaundice, infantile acropustulosis, salmon patch, Epstein’s pearls/ Bohn's nodules, miliaria, sebaceous gland hyperplasia, neonatal acne, Mongolian spot, bullous impetigo, erythroderma Preterm neonates had predilection for vernix caseosa, sucking blisters, miniature puberty, candidiasis, Mongolian spot, caput succedaneum, cephalohematoma, erythroderma, miliaria, Epstein’s pearls/ Bohn's nodules and a positive association was seen between post-term neonates and physiological desquamation, diaper dermatitis. Neonatal psoriasis and neonatal dermatophyte infection were the unusual findings which we found in our study.

<p class="abstract"><strong>Background:</strong> Cutaneous alterations are commonly seen in neonates as a normal process of adaptation to the external air environment after birth. It is good to know about transient skin lesions in infants to distinguish them from other conditions that prevent unwanted neonate therapy. Parents should be confident of the excellent prognosis of these manifestations of the skin. The aim of the study was to determine the patterns of cutaneous manifestations occurring among the newborn.</p><p class="abstract"><strong>Methods:</strong> This prospective study was conducted in the newborn with at-least one cutaneous manifestation. A detailed history of the neonates and mother was collected using pre-designed proforma.<strong></strong></p><p class="abstract"><strong>Results:</strong> Of 100 neonates, 52 were males, 48 were females, of these, 85 were born at term, 10 were preterm, and 5 were post-term. Mongolian spot was seen in lumbosacral, buttocks and extremities in 80 (80%) neonates, vernix caseosa in 20 (20%) neonates. Milia in 14 (14%) neonates, eczematous eruption in 30 (12.5%).</p><p class="abstract"><strong>Conclusions:</strong> This neonatal skin research has provided details on normal variants occurs during the neonatal phase. It is necessary to know that most newborn skin lesions are temporary and do not require any treatment.</p>

BACKGROUND: The stratum corneum (SC) is the outermost layer of human skin and deemed as barrier against chemical exposure and water loss. Moisturizers have beneficial effects in treating dry skin, especially the SC. Confocal Raman spectroscopy (CRS) was used to evaluate the efficacy of moisturizers on skin hydration and penetration, with such agents posing inherent characteristics of being noninvasive, nondestructive, timesaving, and cost effective. Bionics vernix caseosa (BVC) cream mimics the composition of vernix caseosa (VC), which could protect the newborn skin. METHODS: This research applied CRS to evaluate the penetration depth and water content variation during the intervention with two moisturizers, BVC cream and Vaseline. Volunteers received the 2 h application of BVC cream and Vaseline on the forearms. The evaluations on 0 h, 2 h, 4 h and 6 h were performed clinical assessment. Experimental data was processed by least square method and analysis of variance (ANOVA). RESULTS: The penetration depth of Vaseline was deeper than that of Bionics vernix caseosa cream. Specifically, BVC cream penetrated 18 μm into human skin, while Vaseline penetrated at least 20 μm. Compared with Vaseline, only BVC cream increased skin hydration, with a moisturizing effect lasting for 4 h. At 6 h, the Vaseline moisturizing effect decreased significantly.

Abstract Objective To try to find the most appropriate time for the newborn’s first bath. This prospective randomized study was conducted in one hospital (July–September 2017). Results A higher percentage of newborns who had a skin-to-skin contact with their mothers had their bath at 24 h vs 2 h after birth (65.2% vs 33.3%; p = 0.01). A higher percentage of mothers who helped in their baby’s bath had their baby’s bath at 24 h vs 2 h (65.2% vs 5.9%; p < 0.001) and vs 6 h (65.2% vs 15.7%; p < 0.001) respectively. A higher mean incubation time was seen between newborns who had their bath at 2 h (2.10 vs 1.78; p = 0.002) and 6 h (2.18 vs 1.78; p = 0.003) compared to those who had their bath at 24 h respectively. A higher percentage of newborns who took their first bath 24 h after birth were calm compared to crying vigorously (38.6% vs 9.1%; p = 0.04). Delaying newborn first bath until 24 h of life was associated with benefits (reducing hypothermia and vigorous crying, benefit from the vernix caseosa on the skin and adequate time of skin-to-skin contact and mother participation in her child’s bathing.
