<p>Following recent high-profile allegations of gender-based violence perpetrated by professional rugby players in contexts involving alcohol in New Zealand, concerns regarding the safety of women in the context of New Zealand rugby culture have emerged. Despite these concerns, no previous studies have explored how rugby culture is enacted in gendered environments where alcohol is consumed, nor has research considered how women in these environments perceive or experience rugby culture. This research addresses an important literature gap, by exploring how women working in licensed leisure venues perceive and experience New Zealand rugby culture. Applying a feminist lens, this qualitative study employed semi-structured interviews with fifteen women who had experience working in New Zealand’s night-time economy. This study found that experiences of violence, degradation, and sexual objectification were a routine and expected part of the women’s interactions with rugby culture. These experiences profoundly impacted their ability to enjoy and participate in rugby, compromised their feelings of workplace safety and satisfaction, and contributed to a range of adverse mental health outcomes. While alcohol was considered to exacerbate antisocial behaviours within rugby culture, the participants identified multiple pathways to rugby-related violence, all of which can be linked to a ‘Kiwi bloke’ version of masculinity that prizes heterosexuality, toughness, and alcohol consumption. Based on these findings, this research concludes that in gendered environments that involve alcohol, New Zealand rugby culture cannot be considered a safe culture for women. This study therefore emphasises the need to prioritise ways of addressing attitudes, behaviours, and approaches to masculinity within rugby culture that may be conducive to gender-based violence and, given the cultural dominance of rugby in New Zealand, serves as an urgent call for further empirical research to inform the development of violence prevention and management strategies.</p>

This research aims to identify and describe cultural appropriation that were found in Moana. Cultural appropriation is one of the negative actions that can harm one culture. This action generally occurs due to a lack of understanding and appreciation of a culture. Based on Rogers[6] cultural appropriation as the use of a culture's symbols, artifacts, genres, rituals, or technologies by members of another culture, is inescapable when cultures come into contact, including virtual or representational contact. Rogers also divided cultural appropriation into four types, there are cultural exchange, cultural dominance, cultural exploitation, and transculturation. Based on Rogers theory above, cultural appropriation that were found in Moana is cultural exploitation. This research was used Qualitative descriptive method. The source data of this research are from “Moana” by Ron Clements and John Musker. This movie was released in 2016 with 113 minutes duration. This analysis shows there are four points of cultural appropriation that were found in “Moana”. Firstly, depiction figure of “Maui”, a demigod figure illustrated very different from the original form in the movie Moana. Secondly, depiction of Kakamora people. Thirdly, depiction of the cliché coconuts. Fourthly, Disney removing Maui’s family out of the tale. This leads to deviations in views towards the representatives of the population and Polynesian beliefs.

The article analyzes the problem of right-wing populism in Switzerland. The study of the features of the country's political and electoral system highlights the issues of its immigration policy and relations with the European Union. The authors argue that the phenomenon of Swiss populism should be considered in a broader context, in connection with which attention is paid not only to the Swiss people's party, the Ticino League and the Geneva citizens ' Movement, but also to the populist parties of countries belonging to the Alpine macroregion – the Austrian freedom party (Austria) and the League (Italy). A discursive analysis of the programs shows that the anti-immigrant program is an essential part of the identity of right-wing populists. All of them are opposed to European integration and globalization, linking them to increased ethnic and religious tensions, unemployment and increased crime. At the same time, a special feature of Swiss parties is the fact that they position migration as a phenomenon mainly associated with cross-border movement of European citizens. Already complex, during the COVID-19 pandemic, this issue has become even more acute, and has become an integral part of their agenda. Meanwhile, the 2015-2018 migration crisis that preceded the pandemic allowed the Swiss people's party to strengthen its identity as a right-wing populist neoliberal party with a strong localist and conservative program aimed at cultural dominance over migrants. The authors also note that the Germanic focus on environmental protection is part of the populist agenda of right-wing regional parties, although it is usually characteristic of the left parties.

In times of geocultural subalternization of knowledge and education, English language teaching (ELT) is torn between subalternizing policies and subjectivating practices. Within this context, ELT teacher educators face policies and discourses aimed at framing their teaching practices, professional lives, and research agendas. However, at the same time, they are expected to engage in practices and processes that allow for personal adaptation and social change. Amid this ambivalence, this reflection paper makes a call to decolonize ELT in Colombia. To this effect, this paper reviews some basic epistemological perspectives such as colonialism and decolonial studies. Then, it proposes the decolonization of ELT, along with a grammar of decoloniality based on discursive alternatives about power, knowledge, and being with the potential of bringing about a transformative teacher subjectivation. The main conclusion is that the Colombian ELT community needs to first deconstruct dominant structures and strategies that enact epistemic and cultural dominance of the global north, and then construct alternative discourses and practices that acknowledge and disseminate the singularities of its knowledge and culture.

Modernization has shifted the existence of local wisdom which has become the national identity due to the influence of the entry of foreign cultures. Various traditions and cultures that are firmly held begin to fade and even disappear with a stronger cultural dominance. This proves the existence of cultural development requires a comprehensive approach, one of which emphasizes the value of preserving culture and character in education. This study aims to find out the philosophical values that are present in the Purnama Seruling Penataran performance through descriptive qualitative methods in order to overcome the significant impact outlined in the learning model. The combination of online and offline is used in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data for the distribution of information so that young people as the next generation know the ins and outs of preserving the culture of Penataran Temple. The conclusion of this research is that the Purnama Seruling Penataran performance is an effort as well as a form of cultural preservation that saves historical stories and local character values that can be imitated and implemented in everyday life. Purnama Seruling Penataran's philosophical values in this finding are in the form of religious, global diversity, mutual  cooperation, creativity, critical reasoning, and independence.Tidak ada batasan yang jelas atas terjadinya pergeseran antara budaya lokal dan budaya asing, sehingga Indonesia memerlukan penerapan pembelajaran kearifan lokal sebagai upaya penguatannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui nilai filosofis yang hadir dalam pagelaran Purnama Seruling Penataran guna dituangkan dalam kurikulum pembelajaran. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif diskriptif dengan pendekatan studi etnopedagogi.  Hasil penelitian  menemukan bahwa nilai filosofis dalam pagelaran Purnama Seruling Penataran relevan dengan 5 karakter utama dalam Penguatan Pendidikan Karakter (PPK), yang meliputi religius, nasionalis, integritas, mandiri, dan gotong royong. Adanya penelitian ini dapat dijadikan bahan pembelajaran muatan lokal yang mengangkat potensi daerah. Selain itu, sebagai acuan dalam eksplorasi nilai-nilai karakter kebudayaan lokal lainnya yang nantinya diimplementasikan dalam pendidikan. Berbagai tradisi dan kebudayaan yang dipegang teguh mulai luntur bahkan menghilang dengan dominansi budaya yang lebih kuat. Hal ini membuktikan eksistensi perkembangan budaya diperlukan pendekatan secara komprehensif salah satunya melalui penggalian nilai dalam Purnama Seruling Penataran.

This study examines the current problems of modern cultural and artistic education, identifies areas that require innovative approaches, and analyses the programmes through the example of the National Academy of Culture and Arts. The demands of post-industrial civilisation caused strengthening of integration between culture, education and science, provoked the need to create a cultural and spiritual foundations, which became the main resources for Ukrainian state’s revivals. The renewal of the education system that aligns with the modern cultural situation calls for rethinking of pedagogical methodological recommendations in accordance with the requirements of post-classical rationality and the development of modern scientific thinking. Identification of the heuristic and practical possibilities of the cultural paradigm, which shifts artistic knowledge in a new cultural direction, changes their cultural dominance and develops an idea about its essence and functions in a culturally appropriate and value-oriented environment, cultural microcosm.

This paper discusses the African Christian theology of inculturation. The theology of inculturation – the African indigenization of Christianity – is one of the African theological movements advocating for the liberation and decolonization of African religious, cultural, and political thought. It is a theological motif that emerged from the African experience of suffering and political and cultural denigration under European colonialism. This paper argues that the African theology of inculturation is a theological outlook that addresses African political, spiritual, and social conditions in the post-colonial era. It is modest and transformative because it offers hope to Africans and empowers them to seek positive change and inclusion, while rejecting a narrative of religious and cultural dominance. It demands recognition of Africa and its cultures by the West as an equal stakeholder in Christ’s victory on the cross. The African theology of inculturation expresses a unique African response to the gospel of salvation; in other words, Christian Scriptures are read and interpreted in line with African values, which situate Christian theology in the African cultural and cosmological worldview. The African cosmological worldview takes African indigenous cultures and philosophy as instruments that explain to Africans the relationship between Christianity and the realities of political and religious life in Africa.

The text attempts to explain Silesian behaviour which results from the cultural dominance of the Polish state. Postcolonial theory facilitates the understanding of Silesian aspirations to emphasise differences from the Polish past and to display the harm they have suffered. The analysis is based on disputable interpretations of events such as the Silesian Uprisings (during 1919–1921) and World War II. The narrative around these differs, an example of invented tradition in both groups: dominant and dominated. Meanwhile, the lack of recognition of the historical and cultural distinctiveness of the region is a source of conflict.
