In this article, we share themes and tensions experienced by humanities faculty undertaking a scholarship of teaching & learning (SoTL) project as part of a multi-campus, grant-funded initiative. Faculty participants in the project iteratively transformed a course to improve one or more aspects of their students’ learning over a three-year period and documented the process and results in a course portfolio. To support their individual and collaborative work, each of the four campuses had a local leader, and participants met regularly with campus teams, convening with the full group annually for cross-campus knowledge exchange and peer review. At the project conclusion campus leaders gathered participant reflections and discovered a pattern of tensions that included: disciplinary ways of knowing, ways to represent knowing, and ways of writing and sharing. These tensions are similar to those identified elsewhere and can be potential impediments to this work for some in the humanities. Explicitly addressing those potential tensions while helping faculty see how their own disciplinary approaches can help them investigate their course practices is a useful first step toward more contributions from humanities scholars.

This study is aimed at analyzing the difference in political participation of inland communities and coastal communities in addressing local elections as an embodiment of synergy in combating Covid-19 and money politics. In this qualitative research, the data were analyzed using an interactive model comprising three analysis components: (1) data reduction, (2) data display, and (3) data verification and conclusion drawing. According to the results, the way the coastal communities respond to the local election differs from that of the inland communities regarding sociological perspective. The coastal communities are not so keen on the election as they concentrate more on their fishing activities. On top of that, people in coastal areas spend most of their time at sea; thus, issues regarding the election are not that impactful for them. The inland communities, on the other hand, has different views thanks to their gregarious characteristic. All their activities and work-life are centralized in a workgroup, enabling the people to have ample time to find out their local leader candidates. This aspect underlines the reason for pluralism among inland communities’ political views, confirming the characteristic of individualism among people in coastal areas.

Based on the data collected from the Chinese most authoritative website RenMinWang(人民网, a national website of China official media)’s forum Local Leaders Message Board (LLMB), using logistic regression model, the author analysis 100788 appeal texts on LLMB, covered 30 Chinese provinces. This paper use Big Data and text mining method to analysis the influencing factors of the satisfaction on the interaction between government and netizen. The empirical results show that: the efficiency of government responsiveness significantly improves netizen's satisfaction. In the government response text, the higher the policy complexity is, the lower satisfaction it will get from the netizen. The network interaction between the government and the netizen meets the expectation-value theory. The netizen’s appeal to the Chinese provincial leaders will get a lower satisfaction level of the government’s response, it maybe caused by their appeal’s complexity of solving. Also if the government response text are to long, and if there are more policy and laws, it will get a lower probability of satisfaction.

Climate change is a serious problem mostly caused by human activities but the impacts are felt by all creatures in the word. These conditions are worsened by the rise of ‘dirty industries’ that exceed the environmental carrying capacity. Many studies had showed that people need to do something to cut climate change from individual to state scale. Therefore, community plays an important role to climate change program’s success. It is known as community-based adaptation (CBA). CBA combines indigenous knowledge, community needs, and local conditions so the program is more likely to implement. In Indonesia, climate change adaptation and mitigation are run in community level namely ProKlim. Government also gives the best practiced community with title and prizes. This paper aims to identify and synthesize previous researches related to CBA and challenge and opportunity of CBA practices in Indonesia. The findings of this paper are CBA is proven in shaping resilience on disaster management, aquaculture, food, and water. Moreover, indigenous knowledge, local leader, funding, and government involvement are the important instrument of CBA. Despite the numerous reports on CBA succeed, there are still some challenge and opportunity of CBA practices in Indonesia.
