Dukungan Sosial dan Job Burnout Pengaruhnya Terhadap Kinerja Polisi (Studi Kasus Pada Anggota Kepolisian Polrestabes Bandung)

This research has a purpose was to determine the effect of social support and burnout on police performance at Polrestabes Bandung both descriptively and verification consisting of simultaneous and partial. There is a population of 296 members of the Bandung Police Satsabhara Polrestabes and 75 respondent were abtained using the slovin method, using multiple linier regression analysis, classical assumption test, and hypothesis testing. which were tested using SPSS 25 for window application, and police performance are descriptive analysis, it is explained that social support, job burnout, and police performance are in the good category, the results of the verification analysis prove that social support significantly & positively affects police performance, while job burnout significantly & negatively affects police performance, then social support and job burnout simultaneously affect police performance.

Pakistani Police Governance and Accountability: Challenges and Recommendations

The persistence of massive corruption, a lack of accountability, departmental clashes, constitutional crisis, and a deteriorating law and order situation, particularly in the police department, are ample indicators of the country's poor governance. Pakistan has been engulfed by opinionated volatility and turbulence, resulting in the formation of a dark crevice in the country's economic growth and development. Good governance cannot be respected while there is opinionated disarray, a politician's appetite for power, and an unreformed Police Department. The current police system in Pakistan was designed by the British in 1861 to address a more diverse set of social, administrative, and political realities than the country currently portrays. Numerous national and international experts have concluded that colonial architecture is unsuitable for Pakistan. Pakistan requires comprehensive police reforms as a necessary component of the national framework, regardless of which party is in power. The public interest in reclaiming law enforcement's value has never been greater than it is today. There is growing recognition that the assignment requires concentrated effort. There can be no expectation of momentous police reforms without a continuing corporation and partnership edifice among the major players involved. A progressive and unwavering political leadership, a towering altitude of public support, and an enthused and well-led general public that demands higher standards of police performance are all necessary components of change and good governance.

Police performance and violent crime in Rio de Janeiro between 2007 and 2017

Performance-related pay policies applied to the Police have been implemented in Brazil and Latin America since the 2000s in an attempt to reduce the main violent crime indicators. The Integrated Targets System (Sistema Integrado de Metas – SIM), the Pacifying Police Units (Unidades de Polícia Pacificadora – UPP) and the Additional Service Regime (Regime Adicional de Serviço – RAS), initiated in the state of Rio de Janeiro in 2009, sought to reduce “strategic state crime indicators” whose results are monitored by the civil police report data. In order to understand how these policies have been implemented in the state of Rio de Janeiro between 2007 and 2017, the study adopts a quantitative approach upon criminal analysis and a qualitative one based on interviews and field observation at civil police stations and military police battalions.

Results and perspectives on policing as part of the national security sector

The police are one of the actors involved in ensuring national security. Therefore, the relevance of this article stems from the need to ensure effective performance. The issue of studying the experience of countries in this field is relevant to find the best models to assess the activities of these structures, which will contribute to a better performance of tasks assigned to them by law - this is one of the tools to assess the performance of the police. The aim of the article was to investigate the peculiarities of police performance assessment, thereby identifying practices that can improve the assessment of police performance. The objective was achieved by using dogmatic, statistical, comparative legal methods and a system-structural approach. The authors revealed the peculiarities of police assessment in Ukraine, the USA, Canada, France and the UK. The focus is on the assessment of police performance based on the level of citizens' trust and statistical data. The conclusion is made that citizens' trust in the police is necessary for the effective performance of its tasks.

Correlates of perceptions of police legitimacy: Do perceptions of neighborhood crime matter?

Police legitimacy promotes trust and cooperation between members of the public and the police. Because the police require cooperation from the public to prevent and solve crimes, having high levels of legitimacy is an important asset for them. Researchers have explored policing strategies as well as individual and neighborhood characteristics that explain levels of police legitimacy. However, no study has explored whether perceived neighborhood crimes affect perceptions of police legitimacy. This study addresses this gap in the literature by analyzing the effect that perceiving four types of neighborhood crime as a problem had on levels of police legitimacy among 1773 respondents from a city in the Appalachians. Results obtained from a series of Ordinary Least Squares models indicate that perceptions of neighborhood crime have no significant effect on police legitimacy once police performance is accounted for. Research and policy implications are discussed.

Multicriteria Ranking for the Efficient and Effective Assessment of Police Departments

The nonparametric assessment of police efficiency and effectiveness is challenging due to the stochastic nature of criminal behavior and the subjective dependence on multiple decision criteria, leading to different prospects depending on the regulation, necessity, or organizational objective. There is a trade-off between sustainable efficiency and effectiveness in many police performance assessments, because many departments can be crime-specialized or cannot reproduce good results effectively on more severe or complex occurrences. This study aims to provide a non-compensatory ranking classification combining Conditional Frontier Analysis with the PROMETHEE II methodology for the multidimensional efficiency and effectiveness analysis of police. The results on Pernambuco (Brazil) Police departments offer interesting perspectives for public administrations concerning prioritizations of units based on the mitigation of resources and strategic objectives.

Effect Of Body-Worn Cameras On African-American Perceptions Of Police Performance And Fairness

This research study examined the effect of body-worn cameras on African American perceptions of police performance and fairness to gain a well-rounded understanding of the public's perception of body-worn cameras. Prior research involving police body-worn cameras focused on police use of force and community perceptions. Limitations within previous research call for further investigation into African American perceptions of the police and consider the role body-worn cameras play in affecting that perception. Using procedural justice theory, I focused on body-worn cameras and their effect on African-American perceptions of police performance and fairness. Employing a quantitative, non-experimental research design and surveying 124 African-American adult participants 18 years and older, I found that African-Americans favor police officers who wear body-worn cameras. Future research suggests incorporating a greater sample size, thereby strengthening the validity and improving generalizability. Policy implications suggest that studying body-worn cameras may add additional research to the knowledge base and help law enforcement understand the relationship between police officers who wear body-worn cameras and African-Americans perceptions of police treatment when body-worn cameras are present.
