Objective: The purpose of this study is to determine the anti-aging properties and safety of serum containing gold nanoparticles (AuNP) using Sidaguri extract (Sida rhombifolia) through their anti-glycation effect. Methods: The anti-aging effect of serum was performed in vitro by measuring advance glycation end products (AGEs) formed during incubation using a Microplate reader, and safety of serum was performed using hen’s egg chorioallantoic membrane (HET-CAM) method using White Leghorn egg. Results: The study showed that serum formulation had an anti-glycation effect with inhibition percentages are 68.20±6.86% and 74.83%±19.91% for a serum containing 10% and 20% gold nanoparticles and little to no irritation potency for both serum formulations with RI value 0.0 and 0.0, respectively. Conclusion: Due to both their anti-glycation effect and irritation behavior, serum formulation containing gold nanoparticle synthesized using Sidaguri extracts could be utilized as anti-aging cosmetics in the future.

Reactive air brazing has been widely used in fabricating solid oxide fuel/electrolysis cell (SOFC/SOEC) stacks. However, the conventional Ag–CuO braze can lead to (I) over oxidation at the steel interconnect interface caused by its adverse reactions with the CuO and (II) many voids caused by the hydrogen-induced decomposition of CuO. The present work demonstrates that the Ag particle interlayer can be used to join yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) electrolytes to AISI 441 interconnect in air instead of Ag–CuO braze. Reliable joining between YSZ and AISI 441 can be realized at 920 °C. A dense and thin oxide layer (~2 μm) is formed at the AISI 441 interface. Additionally, an interatomic joining at the YSZ/Ag interface was observed by TEM. Obtained joints displayed a shear strength of ~86.1 MPa, 161% higher than that of the joints brazed by Ag–CuO braze (~33 MPa). After aging in reducing and oxidizing atmospheres (800 °C/300 h), joints remained tight and dense, indicating a better aging performance. This technique eliminates the CuO-induced issues, which may extend lifetimes for SOFC/SOEC stacks and other ceramic/metal joining applications.

The mean residual life frailty model and a subsequent weighted multiplicative mean residual life model that requires weighted multiplicative mean residual lives are considered. The expression and the shape of a mean residual life for some semiparametric models and also for a multiplicative degradation model are given in separate examples. The frailty model represents the lifetime of the population in which the random parameter combines the effects of the subpopulations. We show that for some regular dependencies of the population lifetime on the random parameter, some aging properties of the subpopulations’ lifetimes are preserved for the population lifetime. We indicate that the weighted multiplicative mean residual life model generates positive dependencies of this type. The copula function associated with the model is also derived. Necessary and sufficient conditions for certain aging properties of population lifetimes in the model are determined. Preservation of stochastic orders of two random parameters for the resulting population lifetimes in the model is acquired.

Although the ordinary time-to-failure degradation-based model has been extensively used in practice, it also has its limitations. In this paper, we consider a time-to-failure degradation-based model recently proposed by Albabtain et al., where a limiting conditional survival probability entertains further stochastic relationships between the failure time and the degree of degradation. In the particular case where the limited survival probability is available for the proportional failure rate model, the model is developed using two well-known degradation paths, namely the additive degradation path and the multiplicative degradation path, each of which has a component of random variation. Preservation of various stochastic orders and aging properties of the random variation component in the model in the described setting is developed. To illustrate the model in the modified design, some examples of interest in reliability are presented.

In this work, a novel additive lanthanum cerium cysteine (LC-Cys), with the molecular formula La0.35Ce0.65(Cys)3Cl3·3H2O, was successfully synthesized through complex decomposition reaction of L-Cysteine and chlorinated rare earths. The effects of additive LC-Cys on cure characteristics, mechanical properties, and thermooxidative aging were investigated. LC-Cys as a multifunctional additive was applied to increase the curing rate and reduce the content of zinc oxide in the presence of the sulfur vulcanization system. It was found that the vulcanizates filled with (5ZnO/2LC-Cys) exhibited the highest modulus, which indirectly indicated the high crosslink and stiffness of the vulcanizates. Moreover, the vulcanizates with LC-Cys showed excellent mechanical properties and resistance to thermooxidative aging. Compared to NR composites filled with normal ZnO, LC-Cys even enhanced the mechanical strength and thermooxidative aging properties with 40% lower ZnO addition.

Oxidative stress is a common sign of aging and cardiovascular disease (CVD), including atherosclerosis, heart failure, hypertension, diabetes mellitus and other diseases of the vascular system. In this regard, in recent years, researchers have shown increased interest in sirtuins (SIRTs) — stress adapters and epigenetic enzymes involved in cellular mechanisms for controlling age-related pathologies, cancer and CVD. Among sirtuins, of which there are seven in mammals (SIRT1-SIRT7), SIRT1 and SIRT6 possess the most cardioprotective, anti-inflammatory, atheroprotective and anti-aging properties. In this review, we present a comprehensive analysis of the latest developments in the field of cellular and molecular signaling pathways controlled by two post-translational modifiers — SIRT1 and SIRT6, which have proven their worth as tools to reduce inflammation and oxidative stress at the level of the cardiovascular system. A deeper understanding of the epigenetic mechanisms through which SIRT1 and SIRT6 exert their cardioprotective effect will have widespread implications and will accelerate the development of selective and effective pharmacological agents for modulating sirtuins for the prevention and treatment of CVD.

  BACKGROUND: Yarrow extract (Achillea millefolium) is recognized to have powerful antioxidants that protect the skin from free radical damage, skin whitening, and anti-aging properties. As a result, the application of antioxidants on the skin can be packaged into a peel-off gel mask preparation for face skin care. AIM: The goal of this study is to see how different concentrations of PVA and HPMC as film-forming and gelling agents affect the quality of peel-off gel masks made from ethanol extract of yarrow (Achillea millefolium) as an antiaging ingredient. METHODS: In order to obtain 5 formulas that will be made into preparations and evaluate the quality of the preparations, this research method uses quantitative analysis methods and statistical analysis using One Way ANOVA by varying the concentrations of PVA (7-10%) and HPMC (2-4%) in order to obtain 5 formulas that will be made into preparations and evaluated the quality of the preparations. Organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, syneresis, skin irritation, viscosity, spreadability, and drying time of the mask were all evaluated. RESULT: The results of the experiment with different concentrations of PVA and HPMC enhanced dispersion and drying time, but had no effect on the viscosity value decrease. CONCLUCION: The quality of the peel off gel mask prepared from the ethanol extract of Yarrow was significantly affected by PVA and HPMC concentrations (p<0.05).
