This study was carried out to protect the continuity of productivity in morkaraman sheep raised in Turkey and determine their economic importance. Morkaraman sheep are concentrated in the Eastern Regions of the country. The province of Bingöl, where the study was conducted, is located in this region and has an important morkaraman population. The study was carried out between 2008-2018. Sixty-eight morkaraman sheep were used during the study period out of 317 lambing lambs. In the study, the total number of lambs born per sheep (TNLBS), the number of weaned lambs (NWL), the weights of the lambs weaned per sheep (WLWS) and the total weight of the lambs weaned in the first period (TWLWFP) were determined. In addition, Additive genetic variance, Error variance, Phenotypic variance, Heritability and Ratio of error variation were determined for these variables. As a result, the correlation between the examined variables was significant and positive, except for the relationship between TNLBS and TWLWFP. The relationship between these two variables was significant but negative. Significant changes were also observed in terms of genetic parameters. It was concluded that the economic aspects of the examined variables should not be ignored in terms of sustainability. Deterministic safety analysis (DSA) is essential for nuclear power plant licensing. The conservative method followed CFR50 Appendix K, which will lead to a large margin. As one of the DSA methodologies, best estimate plus uncertainty (BEPU) generates more realistic results that can be used in the license application of nuclear power plants (NPPs). However, uncertainty evaluation of parameters is needed in BEPU. In this article, the safety regulatory focuses on the large break loss of coolant accident (LBLOCA) of an advanced PWR. The BEPU analysis is mainly performed by TRACE V5.0 patch 4 code, and the uncertainty analysis is conducted based on DAKOTA code. For correlation coefficients analysis, the sample size is enlarged reasonably. According to the results, this NPP meets the acceptance criteria effectively in LBLOCA with enough margin. By statistic assessment, the set of PCTs calculated has typical normal distribution characters. Based on BEPU, the uncertainties of parameters are studied. Additionally, the influence of sample size on the correlation of parameters is considered too. It could be seen that more samples could permit a more accurate estimation for Spearman partial correlation coefficient (abbreviated as SPCC). The conclusions of this article can provide technical support for the subsequent review of the safety analysis report and the design changes of NPPs.

The paper considers the problem of using images from SAR satellites for the identification of seagoing vessels. It describes the main functions of software and technological complex of the automated monitoring. The system is operated with utilizing space images of SAR satellites Sentinel 1A (B). The algorithmic part, which implements the detection on the sea surface the marks associated with ships, is described in details. To reduce the impact of speckle-noise, the image is pre-processed with the improved Lee-filter. Further processing lies in using an adaptive threshold algorithm that provides detection for each local background fragment of the image the unusually bright pixels, at the same time the algorithm provides a constant probability of error. By solving a nonlinear equation, for each position of the background window the algorithm finds the threshold brightness value and then all pixels above this value are considered vessels. In advance the evaluation of parameters of statistical distribution of pixels’ brightness is performed for each position of the background window. K-mean is used for such distribution. The selected bright pixels are combined into compact groups and their size and coordinates are being determined. The obtained results are compared with the data of the AIS, Automatic Identification System of ships, and the results are displayed on a cartographic basis.

PurposeHeritage landmarks and historical values often coexist with places and regions of remarkable environmental and landscape wealth. This article studies their capacity to generate global understanding of their territory through the creation of cultural routes. The proposed methodology is verified through the study of the defensive features of the ancient Nasrid Kingdom, the last Islamic territory in the Iberian Peninsula from the thirteenth to the fifteenth century, which shaped the Spanish region known as the Kingdom of Granada until the nineteenth century.Design/methodology/approachTo assist in the proposal of new routes, a precise collection of physical data (topography, landmarks, resources, population centres …), existing public paths and protected natural sites was carried out. Those cultural routes relevant to the area of study were also selected and mapped through GIS. A set of indicators prioritised through an analytic hierarchy process (AHP) have evaluated the proposed itineraries.FindingsThe methodology enables the integral evaluation of parameters such as natural heritage, existing paths networks, defensive architectural heritage (watchtowers), existing cultural routes or proximity to basic services. The methodology's application allows an index to be obtained that quantifies the global implications of these parameters in the design of new itineraries. This leads to the development of a network with its own narrative that provides a historical, environmental and cultural meaning.Originality/valueWatchtowers in this region have previously been studied as isolated and locally relevant architectural features. This work studies them from an overall perspective, considering each tower as a piece of a complex defensive and territorial system. Cultural routes arise from this joint interpretation as tools to restore and highlight the interrelationship between architectural heritage and territory and people.
