In this work, the optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) properties of camera lens protectors and their potential use in emergency dosimetry were investigated. Camera lens protectors can be attached to mobile phones, which are commonly carried by individuals and may be useful in estimating an emergency dose. The presented results confirm the great potential of this type of glass material for dose determination. The glass protectors exhibit advantageous properties, such as linear dose dependence in the range of at least 0.6–10 Gy, minimum detectable dose at the level of tens of mGy, and good measurement repeatability for samples of the same type. Significant fading during the first day after exposure is an undesirable feature of tested glass. Nevertheless, the application of the correction for fading shows promising results in the dose recovery process.

Dispersing fibers in a water dispersion is an important issue for many fiber-based materials that significantly affects the mechanical and many other properties of materials. However, the measurement and assessment of the dispersion effect remains a significant challenge. In this study, we presented an image analysis method based on quadrat analysis from ecology and geography, transforming the issue of the dispersion effect into the statistics of point distribution. Furthermore, we changed the type of sampling and adjusted the shape, size and numbers of each quadrat to investigate its influences on the evaluation results. Our results showed that the area of one quadrat had a more obvious effect on the evaluation results compared to the number of quadrats. In addition, having a quadrat of an optimum shape enlarged the difference in various dispersion effects; the results of a square quadrat exhibited stably in both complete coverage and random sampling. Quadrat analysis realizes good measurement of dispersion states as a result of image processing and offers an assessment of the dispersion effect in a fiber–water dispersion.

Abstract Objectives There is a growing acceptance of the need for routine implementation of Patient Reported Experience Measures (PREMs) in healthcare. Rheumatology patients, as frequent and long-term users of care, stand to benefit from collection of experience-related data. The aim of this study was to perform a systematic review to identify and critically appraise the development and psychometric validation of PREMs in rheumatology. Methods Six databases were systematically searched from inception to December 14, 2020: MEDLINE, EMBASE, PsycINFO, SCOPUS, Cochrane, and Google Scholar. Included were articles in English which described the use or development of PREMs, with results of psychometric testing, in an adult outpatient Rheumatology context. This study is registered with PROSPERO (CRD42021233819). Articles were appraised using the COnsensus Based Standards for the selection of health status Measurement Instruments (COSMIN) (i) Risk of Bias checklist and (ii) criteria for good measurement properties. Results The search yielded 3809 publications and six studies met inclusion criteria. All included studies on PREM development fulfilled COSMIN standards for ‘doubtful’ or “inadequate” quality of instrument development. One study fulfilled a “sufficient” rating for content validity and the remainder fulfilled “inconsistent” ratings. During validity testing, studies fulfilled between one to four of the eight COSMIN checklist criteria for good measurement properties. Conclusion Methodological concerns regarding instrument development and validation limit the generalisability of the existing six validated PREMs in use in Rheumatology contexts. There is a need for further well-designed studies to validate existing and new PREMs in this area.

Abstract Many people are familiar with the feeling of instability, pain, or subsidence in the knee joint after a knee injury. There are many different methods for examining the knee, such as the drawer test or the Lachman test [1], before and after surgery. While these tests can be used in short term and provide useful results, motion capture systems can be used as an alternative measurement method, almost as a substitute in longer term. These include marker-based or mechanica l systems, which achieve good measurement results but are expensive and inflexible. For this reason, this paper presents a mobile, easy-to-use motion and easy expandable capture system using a low-cost IMU-based development system. The modular design of the system allows it to be adapted to each body region with simple adjustments. However, the present work focuses on applications for capturing human motion sequences and deriving three joint angles of the lower extremities to detect malposition.

Quality of work life merupakan persepsi pekerja terhadap kualitas hidup di tempat kerja, yang dapat berdampak positif pada pekerja serta organisasi tempat kerja. Quality of work life telah banyak diteliti di Indonesia, namun alat ukur quality of work life dalam bahasa Indonesia masih sangat terbatas khususnya untuk subjek Pegawai Negeri Sipil (PNS) dan belum menikah. Pengujian reliabilitas memperoleh nilai α = 0,96. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa instrumen alat ukur quality of work life versi bahasa Indonesia ini valid dan reliabel.

Abstract Date Presented Accepted for AOTA INSPIRE 2021 but unable to be presented due to online event limitations. Time management is a key OT intervention component. Valid and reliable instruments are essential for evaluating rehabilitation and OT interventions. The results of this study show that the Assessment of Time Management Skills has good measurement properties and consistent and replicable items and is useful in English-speaking countries. It can provide valid measures of time management skills, organization and planning skills, and regulation of emotion in a general population and presumably also a population with cognitive impairment. The measurement process is the most important part of the production process in the industrial world. Obtaining good measurement results can not be separated from using measuring instruments that are always maintained. Subsequence, the maintenance of calibration procedures must be carried out periodically based on a predetermined time limit. The calibration process is an activity to compare standard quantities between measuring instruments and testers that are in accordance with the measuring instrument and carried out periodically. The implementation of the calibration process often has generates an uneven value where this value is better known as the uncertainty value. This research objective is to determine the uncertainty value of the measuring instrument of a dial indicator using the JIS B 7503 Standard. The calibration can control the quality of the equipment used, and can show whether the tool is feasible or not to be used.

Abstract Purpose Physical functioning and fatigue are key patient concerns in myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML), and acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The objective of this research was to generate supportive quantitative evidence for modular physical functioning and fatigue measures based on the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) Quality of Life Questionnaire Core 30 items (QLQ-C30) and a customized selection of 10 supplemental items from the EORTC Item Library. Methods The 40 items were completed online cross-sectionally by 51 patients (higher risk [HR] MDS: 53%; CMML: 26%; AML: 10%). Psychometric analyses based on Rasch measurement theory (RMT) were conducted on the QLQ-C30 physical functioning and fatigue domains as well as measures combining QLQ-C30 and supplemental items. A measure of anemia-related symptoms composed of QLQ-C30 and supplemental items covering fatigue, dyspnea, and dizziness was also investigated. Results The QLQ-C30 physical functioning and fatigue domains showed good targeting to the sample and adequate reliability, with few conceptual gaps identified. Combining the QLQ-C30 and supplemental physical functioning and fatigue items improved the conceptual coverage and the reliability of the measures. The patient-reported anemia-related symptom measure showed good measurement performance, underpinned by a clinically meaningful characterization of severity of these symptoms over a spectrum, starting with fatigue, then dyspnea, and finally dizziness (most severe). Conclusion The modular measurement approach of combining EORTC QLQ-C30 and Item Library offers a promising pragmatic solution to the measurement of physical functioning and fatigue, as well as anemia-related symptoms in clinical trials conducted in HR MDS, CMML, and AML.

Research on grandiose narcissism distinguishes between self-promotional processes (i.e., narcissistic admiration) and other-derogative processes (i.e., narcissistic rivalry; Back et al., 2013). Moreover, research has begun to assess and investigate narcissistic manifestations in different domains (e.g., communal narcissism). To integrate these two lines of research, we developed the Domain-Specific Narcissistic Admiration and Rivalry Questionnaire (D-NARQ), a 72-item narcissism questionnaire that contains a self-promotional process scale (narcissistic admiration) and an other-derogatory process scale (narcissistic rivalry) for four domains: intellectual ability, social dominance, communal care, and physical attractiveness. We investigated the psychometric properties of the D-NARQ in a large online study ( N = 1,635). Model fit statistics were largely in line with the theorized factor structure. The D-NARQ scales had good to very good measurement precision, and their correlations with established narcissism scales, the Big Five personality traits, and comparative self-evaluations largely supported their convergent and discriminant validity.

Dissolution instrument is an effective alternative method to study and evaluate the bioavailability of drugs in vitro, and an important means to ensure and evaluate whether the production technology and quality of solid oral preparations are reasonable and stable. It is found that the mechanical properties of the instrument will affect the determination of the drug, which will lead to the deviation of the determination results. Some methods of mechanical verification of dissolution instrument are analyzed and the application of non-contact measurement method is explored in mechanical verification. Experimental results show that the proposed non-contact measurement method has good measurement accuracy and repeatability.
