Abstract Research on the potential fishing ground for demersal fishing is a way to determine the areas that have the potential for fishing activities. Potential fishing ground mapping can be done by observing the dynamics of oceanographic parameters. The use of satellite imagery helps in providing oceanographic data in order to study the variability of oceanographic parameter. The aim of the study was to analyse the relationship between oceanographic parameter and demersal fish catch in order to validate potential fishing grounds for demersal fish. This research has been conducted in the waters of the Riau islands. Field observations and data collection including surveys of fishing grounds and identification of fish catches were carried out during March to August 2020. To support the analysis, Aqua-Modis Level-3 satellite data was used to observe the oceanographic variations. The data used in the analysis consisted of fishing grounds coordinate information, catches, sea surface temperature, chlorophyll-a, water depth, and salinity. The results showed that during the period 2010-2020, oceanographic dynamics did not experience significant changes or tended to be stable. Most of the research areas indicated appropriate categories for fishing activities based on the research parameters analysis. The correlation of the research parameters described a significant effect on fishing activities.

Abstract Marine instrumentation is used to make optimal use of natural resources in the marine sector in the form of storing oceanographic characteristics data. This research aims to evaluate a new Lagrangian instrument called RHEA, developed by the Marine Research Laboratory, Padjadjaran University. This research was conducted by examining the correction factors contained in the RHEA from the mechanical and electronic side to optimize the work and carry out appropriate validation of the oceanographic parameter data. The method used is by studying marine instrument literature and conducting a series of tests on the tool until it is ready for use at sea. The output of this research is in the form of literature on how the device works to be effective and efficient in collecting data about certain oceanographic factors. The result shows that RHEA has various functions: measuring pH, dissolved oxygen, temperature, turbidity, and salinity in real-time time. This instrument needs to be slightly modified again related to its design so that it can be more optimal when measuring oceanographic parameter data. In addition, in terms of data acquisition, it is necessary to improve the electronic components by replacing or adding several parts so that the data obtained can have high accuracy.

The density and distribution of fish resources in the waters are much influenced by variations in oceanographic conditions. To examine interaction between oceanographic condition with spatial distribution of pelagic fish in Java Sea, hydroacoustic research was done using KR. Bawal Putih III on October 17 to November 11, 2017. Acoustic data acquisition used Simrad ME multi beam (70-120 kHz) with the position of the transducer installed on the keel. Environmental parameters (oxygen, pH, salinity, chlorophyll, temperature) were measured using the SBE 19 plus V2 CTD and physical oceanographic parameter (current direction and speed) using the ARM current meter, both are lowered vertically according to depth at 48 station. Correlation analysis between oceanographic parameter with fish abundance and spatial distribution using PCA (Principal Component Analysis) statistical analysis. Results show that density of pelagic fish was influenced respectively by salinity, oxygen, chlorophyll, pH and temperature. This sequence based on distance and proximity to the line formed by environmental factors towards the center of correlation. The environmental components that have a direct interaction with the abundance of pelagic fish are salinity and oxygen. These two factors are the main factors in osmoregulation and energy formation for fish bodies, while the other four environmental factors (chlorophyll pH, temperature and current velocity) correlate partially to the presence of pelagic fish.

Sea Surface Temperatures (SSTs) is one of the most important oceanographic parameter that could affect the marine life, especially coastal ecosystem. SSTs data varies in hourly, daily, seasonal, annual, inter-annual, and even in longer time scales. This condition makes any studies using instantaneous measurement could turn into misleading report due to the lack of time series SSTs data. Thus, the aim of this study is to understand the seasonal and intra-seasonal SSTs dynamics in Pari Island using continuous measurement from temperature logger. This study found that the double peaks of SSTs in May and November are correspond to the period of transitional monsoon. Conversely, the two minimum SSTs in February and August were correspond to the peak of northwest monsoon and southeast monsoon respectively. In addition to seasonal pattern, the slightly dominant intra-seasonal variability of SSTs was found in the period of 57 and 86 days. Those predominant signals suggested represent the Madden-Julian Oscillation phenomena.

A methodological approach in the analyses of the seawater oceanographic states is determined by the purpose of the paper and general purpose of the research. In the recent decades the scientific work in this area has advanced thanks to computer data processing, particularly owing to modern technical and technological achievements that allow us to obtain important results, which significantly augment application of scientific results. This paper is a review of the research on the Central Adriatic shelf. Until now, papers dealing with geographical and oceanographic features regularly used the terms Palagruža Shelf and Jabuka concavity in the meaning of independent entities in the Adriatic basin which partly define physicogeographic features of water masses. However, such perception should be corrected. The Central Adriatic shelf is situated between the north Adriatic and the south Adriatic basin. Its length is greater than the width. Therefore, it deserves more attention and more cautious scientific approach. In this paper there are also evaluations of some methodologies used in the research and in the measuring of oceanographic parameter values, and also new technical solutions are proposed. The purpose of this paper is to analyse some methods of approach in the presentation of oceanographic states of seawater in the area of the Central Adriatic shelf. The purpose is also to introduce a succession of articles in which this maritime zone should be given its deserving significance from the geographic and oceanological aspects.

Meteorological data measurement by an Automatic Weather Station (AWS) were carried out at the pier of Kotok Island for East Monsoon period on April 2011 to obtain the changes phenomenon of maritime meteorological parameter and their correlation with the changes of oceanographic condition in shallow waters area and its surrounding. The measurement consists of surface wind parameter, air temperature, humidity, air pressure, and oceanographic data observations such as batimetry, tide, sea current, sea surface temperature, and salinity distributions. Result of maritime meteorological assessment obtained from previous reports (1980, 1998, and 2001) showed that the changes of the maximum air temperature were relatively significant. Furthermore, the air pressure data at the sea surface increased approximately 1.3 mBar. Nevertheless, other meteorological data seemed to be less significant in changes, but indicated a strong correlation with the pattern of tidal current and propagated waves to the shoreline. The changes of oceanographic parameter in the shallow water area were triggered the sedimentation processes, so that the coral reef growth might be decreased. Keywords: Maritime meteorology, oceanographic parameter, flat coral reef
