Political electoral discourse is characterized by certain basic concepts, such as “politics”, “election”, “electoral programs”, “electorate”, “people”, “power” and others. “People” and “power” are the key ones, since they reflect the features of political process and are inextricably linked to each other during all electoral period. Over the decades, the application of mechanical force to influence chemical reactions has been called by various names: mechanochemistry, tribochemistry, mechanical alloying, to name but a few. The evolution of these terms has largely mirrored the understanding of the field. But what is meant by these terms, why have they evolved, and does it really matter how a process is called? Which parameters should be defined to describe unambiguously the experimental conditions such that others can reproduce the results, or to allow a meaningful comparison between processes explored under different conditions? Can the information on the process be encoded in a clear, concise, and self-explanatory way? We address these questions in this Opinion contribution, which we hope will spark timely and constructive discussion across the international mechanochemical community.

Abstract The traditional Reformed understanding of Jesus Christ as prophet, priest, and king, and of Christian participation in this munus triplex, can be refined, complemented, and extended through viewing this theologumenon eschatologically. Applying the methodology of Third Article Theology to the doctrine of eschatology enables the full breadth of Christ’s pneumatological interaction with humanity to be explored. Recent attempts to partially employ the munus triplex in the service of eschatology reveal considerable advances with regards to Christ’s prophetic and priestly offices. These efforts are categorized and then extended with a constructive discussion of Christ’s kingly eschatological office, which reveals how through the Spirit the kingdom realities that define our future are drawn back to become (in part) characteristics of our present ecclesial existence.

The love for reading (philanagnosia) is established from the early years of a child and contributes to his cognitive, linguistic, emotional and social development. The contact of a child with books is of crucial significance if we want to cultivate a critical reader and a future active citizen. This study examines the results of implementation of literary- based structured program and instruction in a sample of 450 students. The teacher's contribution is significant as s/he is the one who mediates between students and text, selecting each time the appropriate technique / strategy to lead the students into a critical approach of it and a constructive discussion. This paper presents a survey that was carried out in schools in the prefecture of Chania (Crete) in Greece and aimed at investigating the effects of structured literary-based program and its impact on children’s response as critical readers.

Article visualizations:

Summary
This collection of essays uncovers apparent tensions between the biblical notions of justice, love, law and mercy. This task is undertaken with the suggestion that biblical theology will benefit from exploring its own relationship to these tensions. The volume displays thoughtful and rigorous scholarship. Shedding light across New and Old Testament research, it promises enough material for constructive discussion among other theological disciplines.

First of all, I want to transmit my most humble thanks to all people who believe that I deserve the “2019 Thomas Hirschfeld” award (kindly supported by FOSS) for my work on near-infrared spectroscopy and, especially, applied on hyperspectral images. I must confess that this award caught me by surprise and that I felt a bit overwhelmed when I received it. It is an honour full of respect and responsibility. I have been given the opportunity of writing this article, and I will profit it to express different personal thoughts about general but relevant aspects of near infrared applied to hyperspectral imaging. Also, since I am more a practitioner in chemometrics (or machine learning or data mining, or …) than a developer, I will also include some insights about the beautiful combination of near-infrared hyperspectral image with chemometrics. This article is just a glimpse of constructive criticism with personal thoughts that comes from my little experience in this field. Therefore, and of course, all opinions here are open for constructive discussion with the only purpose of learning (like the machines do nowadays).

Inspired by impossibility theorems of social choice theory, many democratic theorists have argued that aggregative forms of democracy cannot lend full democratic justification for the collective decisions reached. Hence, democratic theorists have turned their attention to deliberative democracy, according to which “outcomes are democratically legitimate if and only if they could be the object of a free and reasoned agreement among equals” (Cohen 1997a, 73). However, relatively little work has been done to offer a formal theory of democratic deliberation. This article helps fill that gap by offering a formal theory of three different modes of democratic deliberation: myopic discussion, constructive discussion, and debate. We show that myopic discussion suffers from indeterminacy of long run outcomes, while constructive discussion and debate are conclusive. Finally, unlike the other two modes of deliberation, debate is path independent and converges to a unique compromise position, irrespective of the initial status quo.
