The focus of this paper will be on the earliest Greek treatments of impulse, motivation, and self-animation – a cluster of concepts tied to the hormē-conatus concept. I hope to offer a plausible account of how the earliest recorded views on this subject in mythological, pre-Socratic, and Classical writings might have inspired later philosophical developments by establishing the foundations for an organic, wholly naturalized approach to human inquiry. Three pillars of that approach which I wish to emphasize are: practical intelligence (i.e., a continuity between knowing and doing), natural normativity (i.e., a continuity between human norms and the environment), and an ontology of philosophical dialectic (i.e., a continuity between the growth of human understanding and the growth of physis).

Based on the theory of social change, cultural evolution, and human development, we propose a mechanism whereby increased danger in society causes predictable shifts in valued forms of intelligence: 1. Practical intelligence rises in value relative to abstract intelligence; and 2. social intelligence shifts from measuring how well individuals can negotiate the social world to achieve their personal aims to measuring how well they can do so to achieve group aims. We document these shifts during the COVID-19 pandemic and argue that they led to an increase in the size and strength of social movements.

We find descriptions of common sense in the domains of anthropology, artificial intelligence, and psychiatry. This is the common sense for adaptation, a form of practical intelligence that better predicts success in everyday experiences, if not real-world survival. This common sense is experienced-based knowledge rather than rule-based. When unexpected situations occur, it supports continuous assessments and decisions to adjust to the conditions at hand. Overwhelmingly practical, common-sense deals with a concrete situation on its own terms. Common sense describes cultural knowledge and behaviors. Inquiry drives practical common sense.

The present study was conducted to derive the psychometric properties of the Bahraini version of the Practical Intelligence Test (PIT), which is a part of the applied intelligence test developed by Sternberg et al. (2008). This test is based on Sternberg's theory of triarchic intelligence. The scale consisted of twenty multiple-choice items, and after each situation, three options are presented that represent different ways to address the problem according to the concept of practical intelligence. The first option is an adaptation (you will try to adapt to the environment). The second option represents changing the environment. The third option is to look for another environment (you decide to leave the environment completely). The population of the study consisted of undergraduate students in public and private universities in the Kingdom of Bahrain enrolled in the 2019/2018 academic year. One of the six universities has been selected. A stratified sample of 300 undergraduate students was distributed by sex and grade level. The results revealed that: (a) practical Intelligence is uni-dimensional, (2) the PIT has high levels of validity and reliability, and (3) the practical intelligence performance varies according to gender and in favour of males.

Physical education of modern students must be organized within the framework of the theory of transprofessionalism and the competence-based approach. The author describes the results of a theoretical study of the potential of physical education in optimizing the professional training of future teachers. On the basis of the author's methodology for organizing vocationally applied physical training in a pedagogical university, it was revealed that sports games are an effective means of forming teachers' metaprofessional competencies. Pedagogical technology based on sports games will successfully foster social and professional activity, communication, practical intelligence, efficiency, emotional stability

As a family-oriented hexapod bionic intelligent house robot, it takes life safety monitoring, intelligent house control, air quality detection, family security, automatic inspection and obstacle avoidance as its main functions. Combined with core technologies including Face and Radio Frequency Identification, Electromagnetic Resonance and Induction, LAM, Intelligent Navigation and Cloud Robot, the robot is established a unique triangular gait in the form of hexapod, which can maintain the function and action stability in various environments, thus become a family housekeeper with multiful functions and practical intelligence.
