The objects of the study were Mature dried fruits of Chinese birch (Lycium chinense Mill., this. Solanaceae (Solanaceae)). Four samples were examined: no. 1 (Gifts of Pamir, Russia), no. 2 (Gullin Tianhe Pharmaceutical, China), no. 3 (A. J. Alliance, Russia), №. 4 (Globaltorg, Russia). The purpose of this work is to determine the content of the sum of saponins in Chinese fruit trees by spectrophotometry. By direct spectrophotometry, after reaction with concentrated sulfuric acid, the content of the sum of saponins in the raw material of Chinese wood was determined. The expediency of using the spectrophotometric method for quantitative determination of saponins in extracts from the fruit of Chinese wood is proved. The values of the optical density of the saponin solution were recorded at a wavelength of 250-500 nm. Analytical maxima of the studied compounds were determined at 325 nm typical for escin. Optimal conditions for the extraction of saponins from the raw materials of this plant (extractant – 40% ethanol; the ratio "raw material – extractant" – 1 : 50; extraction time – 90 minutes; the degree of grinding of raw materials – 0.5 mm) are justified. It was determined that the error of a single determination of the saponin content in Chinese fruit with a confidence probability of 95% is ±1.93%. It was found that the content of saponins in the studied samples of Chinese wood varies in the range of 4.94 to 5.03%.

Four samples were examined: No. 1 (Gifts of Pamir, Russia), No. 2 (Gullin Tianhe Pharmaceutical, China), No. 3 (A. J. Alliance, Russia), No. 4 (Globaltorg, Russia). The purpose of this work is to determine the amount of carotenoids in the fruits of Chinese by spectrophotometry. The quantitative determination of the amount of carotenoids in the raw material of Chinese Dereza was carried out. Thin-layer chromatography was used to confirm the presence of carotenoids in the fruits of Dereza. The expediency of using the spectrophotometric method for the detection and quantitative determination of carotenoids in extracts from the fruits of Chinese birch is substantiated. The electron spectra of hexane, acetone and acetone-hexane solutions in the wavelength range 400–500 nm have a maximum optical density at 450±2 nm, characteristic of β-carotene. The optimal conditions of extraction of carotenoids from the raw materials of this plant (extractant – hexane; ratio "raw material–extractant" – 1 : 5; extraction time – 90 minutes; the degree of grinding of raw materials – 0.5 mm). It was determined that the error of a single determination of the content of carotenoids in the fruits of Chinese Dereza with a confidence probability of 95% is ±3,49%. It was revealed that the content of carotenoids in the raw material of Chinese Dereza varies in the range of 33–39 mg%.

Dried stevia leaves (Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni) were used as objects of research. Four samples of stevia raw materials of different origin were studied: No. 1 (Russia, Penza region), No. 2 (Russia, Republic of Crimea), No. 3 (Paraguay), No. 4 (India). The purpose of this work is to develop a method for quantifying the amount of phenylpropanoids in stevia leaves. Quantitative determination of the amount of phenylpropanoids in stevia leaves by direct spectrophotometry was carried out. Thin-layer chromatography was used to confirm the presence of phenylpropanoids in stevia leaves. The presence of phenylpropanoids in stevia leaf extracts was confirmed by direct spectrophotometry, the analytical maxima of the compounds studied were determined – 290 and 330 nm. The optimal conditions of extraction of phenylpropanoids from raw materials of this plant (extractant – ethyl alcohol 70%; ratio "raw material–extractant" – 1 : 100; extraction time – 45 min; the degree of grinding of raw materials – 1.0 mm). It was determined that the error of a single determination of the content of phenylpropanoids in stevia leaves with a confidence probability of 95% is ±0.44%. It was found that the content of phenylpropanoids in stevia varies in the range of 6.73–10.51%.

Aim of the study. Show the possibilities of diagnosing non - tuberculous mycobacteriosis of the lungs (NTML) in the practice of the pulmonologist. Materials and methods. A survey of 90 patients with a confirmed diagnosis of non - tuberculous mycobacteriosis of the lungs (NTML) was presented. The diagnosis of pulmonary mycobacteriosis was established in accordance with the criteria proposed in 2007 by the American Thoracic Society and the American Society of Infectious Diseases (ATS/IDRS). Among the patients, 55 (61.1%) women prevailed, the average age was 51.2±15.3 years. Patients were evaluated complaints, the presence of concomitant diseases of the lungs, was carried out computed tomography of the chest high - resolution (HRCT), a culture study of sputum, in the absence of sputum or a single determination of the NTM culture in it, a study was conducted on materials of bronchoalveolar washout (ALS/BAL), or lung biopsies. Statistical processing of the research results was performed using descriptive statistics using Microsoft® Excel for Windows xp® on a personal computer. Results and conclusion. As a result of the study, it was revealed that before the diagnosis of NTML was established, 66.7% of patients were long observed for chronic lung diseases (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, chronic bronchitis), and in 55.6% of cases (50 people) were registered with a phthisiologist about pulmonary tuberculosis. According to the CT scan of OGK, dissemination was determined in 66.7% of cases, in 48.9% - bronchiectasis, single or multiple destruction cavities - 46.7% of cases. In 72.2% of cases, non - tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) were found in sputum, in 33.3% - in ALS and in 22.2% of NTMs were found in the surgical material. In 14.4% of cases, only surgery allowed to establish the diagnosis of mycobacteriosis.

Objective: To determine the value of the 6-hour postoperative ionized Calcium (iCa) slope, versus 6-hour postoperative Calcium alone, in predicting the occurrence of hypocalcemia in patients who underwent thyroid surgery in a tertiary hospital in Metro Manila. Methods: Study Design:            Retrospective Cross-Sectional Study Setting:                       Tertiary Private Hospital Subjects:                    Pre-operative and 6-hour postoperative ionized calcium determinations were analyzed in 59 patients of the ENT-HNS department in a tertiary hospital in Metro Manila who underwent thyroid surgery from January 2009 to December 2013. Results: The 6-hr postoperative iCa slope (difference between the pre-operative and 6-hour postoperative iCa levels) of ≥0.18 mmol/L correctly predicted 57.1% of patients who eventually developed hypocalcemia, with a specificity of 81.6%, and a positive predictive value of 63.2%. In contrast, the 6-hour postoperative iCa measurement identified only 23.8% (5 out of 21) patients who developed hypocalcemia. Conclusion: The 6-hr postoperative iCa slope increased the probability of identifying patients who developed hypocalcemia from 23.8% to 57.1%. However, as a single determination, this may  not suffice to take the place of serial iCa measurements after thyroid surgery. Keywords: ionized calcium (iCa), hypocalcemia, thyroidectomy
