How do the idealised promises and purposes of urban informatics compare to the material politics and practices of their implementation? To answer this question, I ethnographically trace the development of two data dashboards by strategic planners in an Australian city over the course of 2 years. By studying this techno-political process from its origins onward, I uncovered an interesting story of obdurate institutions, bureaucratic momentum, unexpected troubles, and, ultimately, frustration and failure. These kinds of stories, which often go untold in the annals of innovation, contrast starkly with more common framings of technological triumph and transformation. They also, I argue, reveal much more about how techno-political systems are actualised in the world.

AbstractOverall, there might be more important aspects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the global fight against it than contact tracing apps. But the case of the contact tracing apps tells us an interesting story in the context of Digital Humanism. It shows us that the principle of privacy by design has reached practice and what it can mean and achieve. Unfortunately, it is also a lesson about the societal limitations of privacy by design in practice. It is a good thing that people are skeptical and ask questions about privacy and data protection. However, it is necessary to differentiate and try to make educated decisions or trust experts and civil society.

Public health organizations typically try to raise literacy or counter misinformation with fact sheets and other data-centric messages. Yet research shows that disseminating more information does not necessarily combat myths. Storytelling offers the oral health community another option for engaging audiences and complementing the facts. The early–20th century research into fluoride is one example of an interesting story. Data and stories can complement each other. Using the elements of storytelling to report or summarize research findings could make such findings more relevant to health policy makers, whose decisions are often driven by values and evidence. Although the scientific literature has not produced a definitive template for instilling stories in a study manuscript, I provide several techniques and caveats for oral health researchers to consider.

Greetings, scholars and friends of The DATA BASE. It's been a long and interesting year we just lived through, and everybody has an interesting story to tell about it, to be sure. I'm no different in that respect, but I have not yet written on the matter, as so many already have. Special issues on the topic of technological remediation of pandemic restrictions on pedagogy abound; it's quite interesting.

As a guide to human life, the Qur'an has served many wise stories about the ancients so that we can make i'tibar in everyday life. One interesting story to study is the story of Ashab al-Sabt. The mufassir, both classical and contemporary mufassir, have their own interpretation in interpreting the story of Ashab al-Sabt contained in the Qur'an, even in interpreting the form of adzab in the story cendrung give rise to a polemic of prolonged interpretation. This research will describe the interpretation of Ibn Kathir and Wahbah al-Zuhaili on the story of Ashab al-Sabt and the similarities and differences between the interpretation of Ibn Kathir and Wahbah al-Zuhaili about Ashab al-Sabt. The approach used is qualitative approach with the type of literature research (library research). As for the results of this study, Ibn Kathir and Wahbah al-Zuhaili interpreted the story of Ashab al-Sabt as the story of the ancient people who lived on the outsized sea of Qazlum (red sea) of Ailah city who violated God's command not to catch fish on Saturday. Second, there is an equal interpretation between the two is that the form of God's curse on Ashab al-Sabt who committed violations in the form of physical curses that is the change of physical form into apes and the two mufassir agreed that in response to the agreement made, Ashab al-Sabt divided into three groups, namely: groups that commit violations, groups that prohibit violations and groups that are silent. The difference in interpretation between the two is that the interpretation of Wahbah al-Zuhaili is ahkam interpretation, this is seen when he interprets the story from the perspective of Fiqh al-Hayah wa al-Ahkam, that the story of Ashab al-Sabt part of the assertion of sadd dzara'i and the obligations of charity ma'ruf and nahi munkar.

Abstract The transformation of syriza from a minor party struggling to enter parliament into a major governing party within a short period of time, its rule in the context of an economic crisis, and its resilience following four and a half years of governance make a very interesting story. syriza has been the only radical left populist party that has governed an EU country in recent times. This introductory article accounts for the factors that facilitated syriza’s catapulting to power, while the special issue assesses some of the main issues that the syriza-led government dealt with from 2015 to 2019. With the danger of oversimplifying a more complex picture, the special issue editors argue that syriza emerged as a serious contender to power owing to two factors: i) the errors in the economic policies of the governments that ruled during the 2010–2014 period, and ii) its successful exploitation of the opportunity to capitalize on the dynamics of a grassroots protest movement (the ‘Aganaktismenoi’) through the adoption of the movement’s populist discourses. The introduction then explicates the consolidation of syriza in the Greek political system and concludes with a brief presentation of the structure of the special issue.

Local history has been part of important aspect in a developing community. It signifies engagement of the link between the present and the past. It helps the community to learn about the events that has happened and in the Malaysian context, the history of the British colonial is the most relevant for it is visibility due to the architectural ruin that is on location. The method applied is Critical Self reflections and studio experimentation. Samples and images of location on site retrieved to study the visual aspect of the buildings and applied as part f the artwork. Artwork explorations are conducted to relate the material and techniques to the context of the study. The British occupation existed in Malaysia for more than two hundred years from 1795 until 1957. In Malaysia generally there are four typical colonial styles of architecture which are Moorish, Tudor, Neo Classic and Neo Gothic (A Ghafar Ahmad, 1997). The tin mining industry has brought merchant and workers to Central Perak such as Gopeng and Batu Gajah. According to (Syed Zainol Abidin Ibid,1995), during 1900 till 1940s, there are three architectural style that influenced the construction of commercial building and shop houses which are adaptation style, eclectic and Art Deco. However, after time the Colonial buildings have decayed and turn into ruins. The beauty and style of the Colonial architecture has inspired the researcher to study the building since it is visible in the surrounding central Perak and keeps an interesting story of the past. Working with glass, the researcher will fabricate the idea of colonial building and glass as a work of art.
