Radiotherapy is one of the main therapeutic methods for treating cancer. The digestive system consists of the gastrointestinal tract and the accessory organs of digestion (the tongue, salivary glands, pancreas, liver and gallbladder). The digestive system is easily impaired during radiotherapy, especially in thoracic and abdominal radiotherapy. In this review, we introduce the physical classification, basic pathogenesis, clinical characteristics, predictive/diagnostic factors, and possible treatment targets of radiotherapy-induced digestive injury. Radiotherapy-induced digestive injury complies with the dose-volume effect and has a radiation-based organ correlation. Computed tomography (CT), MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), ultrasound (US) and endoscopy can help diagnose and evaluate the radiation-induced lesion level. The latest treatment approaches include improvement in radiotherapy (such as shielding, hydrogel spacers and dose distribution), stem cell transplantation and drug administration. Gut microbiota modulation may become a novel approach to relieving radiogenic gastrointestinal syndrome. Finally, we summarized the possible mechanisms involved in treatment, but they remain varied. Radionuclide-labeled targeting molecules (RLTMs) are promising for more precise radiotherapy. These advances contribute to our understanding of the assessment and treatment of radiation-induced digestive injury.

Background. Natural brown diamonds with fancy yellow, orange, red and green tints are valuable jewelry raw materials. Their colour is associated with post-crystallisation plastic deformation occurring during transportation from the mantle to the Earth’s surface.Aim. To study point defects in plastically deformed diamonds using optical and IR spectroscopy.Materials and methods. Faceted brown diamonds with fancy tints presented on the Russian market were studied spectroscopically. Selected samples were examined using UV-visible optical absorption spectroscopy and IR spectroscopy.Results. We discovered unusual optical centres in the absorption spectra of the UV-visible region. In addition, the known continuous absorption increasing from the red to the ultraviolet region of the spectrum, as well as the N3 and H3 nitrogen centres and a band at 550 nm, were revealed. In the spectra of yellowish-brown diamonds, the bands at 512.9 nm and 519.9 nm and an accompanying broad band with a maximum of 480 nm were found. The appearance of a yellowish tint of crystals was associated with these optical centres. The bands 506.5 nm, 516.1 nm and 679.7 nm were established in the spectrum of orange-brown diamond samples. An additional absorption continuum associated with single nitrogen atoms and centres (NV)– were observed in greenish-brown diamond samples. Their simultaneous presence causes the appearance of a greenish tint in the diamond colour.Conclusion. The information obtained using IR spectroscopy indicates that an intense brown colour can occur not only in the most common Ia type crystals according to the physical classification of diamonds, but also in relatively rare Ib + IaA type diamonds.

Case series summary This case series describes the neuromuscular blockade (NMB) following 0.15 mg/kg intravenous (IV) cisatracurium administration in 11 cats undergoing ophthalmological surgery and anaesthetised with isoflurane. Anaesthetic records were analysed retrospectively. Neuromuscular function was assessed by a calibrated train-of-four (TOF) monitor. Cats were 73 ± 53 months old, weighed 4 ± 1 kg and were of American Society of Anesthesiologists’ physical classification 2. Duration of anaesthesia and surgery were 144 ± 27 and 94 ± 24 mins, respectively. The lowest TOF count was zero in four cats, four in six cats and for one cat the TOF ratio never decreased below 31%. The time of onset was between 1 and 6 mins after the administration of cisatracurium and the mean duration of action was 20.4 ± 10.1 mins. Relevance and novel information Cisatracurium at a dose of 0.15 mg/kg IV did not consistently induce a TOF count of zero in all cats. The dose used in these cats did not produce any remarkable cardiovascular side effects. Although the NMB was not complete, the dose given was sufficient to produce central eyeball position, which was the goal of the ophthalmic surgeries.

Using the coherent-potential approximation in heterogeneous-elasticity theory with a log-normal distribution of elastic constants for the description of the Raman spectrum and the temperature dependence of the specifi?c heat, we are able to reconstruct the vibrational density of states and characteristic descriptors of the elastic heterogeneity of a wide range of glassy materials. These descriptors are the non-affi?ne contribution to the shear modulus, the mean-square fluctuation of the local elasticity, and its correlation length. They enable a physical classification scheme for disorder in modern, industrially relevant glass materials.

We apply our procedure to a broad range of real-world glass compositions, including metallic, oxide, chalcogenide, hybrid and polymer glasses. Universal relationships between the descriptors on the one side, and the height and frequency position of the boson peak, the Poisson ratio and theliquid fragility index on the other side are established.

Herb plants are essential in the medical field today and can help humans. Phyllanthus Elegans Wall is used in this study to analyse and categorize whether it is a safe or unhealthy leaf. At the moment, most insect identification methods rely on physical classification, making it difficult to automatically, quickly, and reliably identify in stored grains. The concept of this research is to ascertain the quality of leaves by combining technology with pesticide classification in the agricultural sector. Picture collection, image processing, and classification are the first steps in enhancing leaf quality analysis. The segmentation using HSV to input RGB image for the colour alteration structure is the most significant image processing method for this section. The colour and shape of a leaf disease image are used to analyse it. Insect detection in complex backgrounds is more versatile with the score map that is decision alternate highly interconnected layer, and our detection speed has upgraded. Finally, the taxonomy approach employs an algorithm that feeds directly that employs formation backwards techniques. The result shows a Many-layer Preceptor and Nonlinear Activation Feature comparison, as well as a percentage of accuracy contrast between MLP and RBF. MLP and RBF are neural network algorithms. Clearly, the Neural Network classifier has a better presentation and precision.

Background and Aims: Non-anesthesiologist-administered propofol (NAAP) has been found to have an acceptable safety profile in adult endoscopy, but its use remains controversial and pediatric data is limited. Our aim was to examine the safety and efficacy of NAAP provided by pediatric hospitalists in pediatric endoscopy. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 929 esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), colonoscopy, and combined EGD/colonoscopy cases in children aged 5–20 years between April 2015 and December 2016 at a large children's hospital. We analyzed the data for adverse events in relation to demographics and anthropometrics, American Society of Anesthesiologists physical classification score, presence of a trainee, comorbid conditions, and procedure time. Results: A total of 929 cases were included of which 496 (53%) were completed with NAAP. Seventeen (3.4%) of NAAP cases had an adverse event including the following: 12 cases of hypoxia, 2 cardiac, and 3 gastrointestinal adverse events. General anesthesia cases had 62 (14.3%) adverse events including the following: 54 cases of hypoxia, 1 cardiac, 7 gastrointestinal, and 1 urologic adverse event. No adverse events in either group required major resuscitation. NAAP vs. general anesthesia had a lower overall adverse event rate (3.4 vs. 14.3%, p < 0.0004) and respiratory adverse event rate (2.4% vs. 12.5%, p < 0.0004). Overall, cardiac and gastrointestinal adverse event rates between the two groups were comparable. When accounting for all captured factors via logistic regression, both younger age (P < 0.001) and general anesthesia (P < 0.0001) remained risk factors for an adverse event. Conclusion: The overall adverse event rate of NAAP was low (3.4%) with none requiring major resuscitation or hospitalization. This is comparable to studies of NAAP in adult endoscopy and suggests that NAAP provided by pediatric hospitalists has an acceptable safety profile.

Three finds of diamonds on the Ingul-Ingulets domain of the Ukrainian Shield are considered: in breccia-like rocks of the Gruzke area, in eclogite-like rocks in the basin of the Ingul River and the Zeleny Gayi meteorite crater. A brief description of these diamonds is made, which represent their different geological and genetic types. Тhe veracity of these diamond findings and the origin of their crystals are appreciated. It is shown that 8 diamonds of the Gruzke area differ in size (0.2-1.4 mm), shape, colour, set of nitrogen centres and degree of preservation. According to infrared spectroscopy, all the studied crystals can be attributed to natural diamonds of the mantle type and distinguish them into separate groups, as they belong to several spectral types: IIa, IaAB, Iab and Ib. However, there are several doubts about the veracity of this finding: 1. Finding in small samples of the core wells of such a high concentration of diamonds. 2. A large variety of crystals in these samples by spectral types of physical classification. 3. Signs of mechanical wear on all crystals, which does not exclude the version of their origin from a diamond drill bit (a mixture of crystals of the natural and possibly synthetic diamond). The question of whether the found diamonds belong to the breccia-like rocks of the Gruzke area remains open. Small diamonds (up to 0.3 mm), which are found in eclogite-like rocks in the basin of the Ingul River on several grounds (mainly cubo-octahedral habit, manifestations of skeletal forms of growth, flat surface of the cube faces, yellow-green colour, inclusions) are very similar to crystals of synthetic HPHT diamond. However, the same small diamonds are found in the rocks of the Euro-Asian Alpine and the Ural and Central-Asian Caledonian ophiolite belts and the eruptions of modern volcanoes in Kamchatka. Such diamonds are also found in lamproite-like rocks of the Mriya pipe in the Azov Sea region, and they are found in weathering crusts and terrigenous deposits of Ukraine. It is necessary to find out the true nature of these findings. Therefore, it is necessary to audit all finds of such diamonds in Ukraine. It is shown that diamonds from the Zeleny Gayi meteorite crater are typical impact apographitic crystals - diamond paramorphoses on graphite. The conclusions of some researchers about the mantle nature of these diamonds from this crater are denied.
