Polymerised aluminium ferric sulphate (PAFS) was prepared from aluminium dross as a coagulant in wastewater treatment. The effects of leaching time, leaching temperature, and sulfuric acid concentrations on the turbidity removal of the wastewater were investigated, and the optimum conditions were determined using response surface methodology. The results showed that the optimum PAFS preparation conditions were at a leaching time of 60 minutes, a leaching temperature of 65°C, and a sulfuric acid concentration of 1 mol/L. Furthermore, experiments were performed to investigate the effect of coagulant dosages using the PAFS prepared under the optimum leaching conditions, settling time and initial pH of the wastewater on the turbidity removal efficiency. As a result, it was found that the optimum coagulation conditions for PAFS coagulants were at a settling time of 15 minutes, coagulant dosage of 0.5g, and raw water pH 8. Under these optimum conditions, the turbidity removal efficiency of the wastewater was 91.45%. The purpose of this study was to investigate the possibility of aluminium dross utilisation as a coagulant agent for wastewater treatment. Therefore, it can be concluded that PAFS prepared by leaching metal oxides from aluminium dross is an effective wastewater coagulant.

In the current scenario, usage of the smart medical pump is predominant in the medical field. The precise drug dosage, flow accuracy should be maintained to increase the performance of an infusion pump. In this work, an attempt has been made to predict and control the speed of the infusion pump for suitable infusion flowrate using machine learning technique and Linear Quadratic Gaussian (LQG) controller. The data for this study is considered from the publicly available online database, electronic Medicines Compendium (eMC). The speed of the infusion pump has been calculated using the drug dosage and flow rate for two different drugs. The prediction of infusion pump speed is achieved using Linear regression with Principal Component analysis (PCR) and Support Vector Machine Regression (SVR). The performance of the prediction schemes is evaluated using standard metrics. To validate the optimal control of the predicted speed, two different medical graded motors are considered. Further, the optimal control of the pump speed is investigated using Proportional–Integral–Derivative (PID), Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR), and LQG controllers for its stability criteria. The prediction of the pump speed using regression models PCR, SVR has been verified and then the transient response analysis with rise time, settling time for both the motors have been examined. Results demonstrate that the LQG optimal control strategy achieves fast rise time, settling time of motor1 with 0.653s, 1.15s, and 0.22, 0.392s for motor2 respectively.

In this article, a recent modified meta-heuristic optimizer named the modified hunger games search optimizer (MHGS) is developed to determine the optimal parameters of a fractional-order proportional integral derivative (FOPID) based load frequency controller (LFC). As an interconnected system’s operation requires maintaining the tie-line power and frequency at their described values without permitting deviations in them, an enhanced optimizer is developed to identify the controllers’ parameters efficiently and rapidly. Therefore, the non-uniform mutation operator is proposed to strengthen the diversity of the solutions and discover the search landscape of the basic hunger games search optimizer (HGS), aiming to provide a reliable approach. The considered fitness function is the integral time absolute error (ITAE) comprising the deviations in tie-line power and frequencies. The analysis is implemented in two networks: the 1st network comprises a photovoltaic (PV) plant connected to the thermal plant, and the 2nd network has four connected plants, which are PV, wind turbine (WT), and 2 thermal units with generation rate constraints and governor dead-band. Two different load disturbances are imposed for two studied systems: static and dynamic. The results of the proposed approach of MHGS are compared with the marine predators algorithm (MPA), artificial ecosystem based optimization (AEO), equilibrium optimizer (EO), and Runge–Kutta based optimizer (RUN), as well as movable damped wave algorithm (DMV) results. Moreover, the performance specifications of the time responses of frequencies and tie-line powers’ violations comprising rise time, settling time, minimum/maximum setting values, overshoot, undershoot, and the peak level besides its duration are calculated. The proposed MHGS shows its reliability in providing the most efficient values for the FOPID controllers’ parameters that achieve the lowest fitness of 0.89726 in a rapid decaying. Moreover, the MHGS based system becomes stable the most quickly as it has the shortest settling time and is well constructed as it has the smallest peak, overshoots at early times, and then the system becomes steady. The results confirmed the competence of the proposed MHGS in designing efficient FOPID-LFC controllers that guarantee reliable operation in case of load disturbances.

Teknologi fuzzy tipe 2 (FT2) berkembang sangat pesat dan memasuki bidang stabilitas sistem tenaga listrik. Pembangkit listrik tenaga mikro hidro (PLTMH) dan diesel (PLTD) riskan terhadap gangguan perubahan beban. Studi stabilitas penting dikerjakan untuk memastikan bahwa operasi PLTMH-PLTD tetap stabil ketika dan setelah beban berubah. Maka power system stabilizer (PSS) berbasis FT2 diusulkan untuk perbaikan stabilitas sistem tersebut. FT2PSS didesain dengan input kecepatan rotor dan derivatifnya. Outputnya adalah sinyal stabilitas yang diumpankan pada sistem eksitasi. Hasilnya, FT2PSS mampu mereduksi overshoot -0,035 deg. Sedangkan overshoot untuk CPSS adalah -0,051 deg. FT2PSS juga dapat mempersingkat settling time dan mempercepat steady state. Stabilitas PLTMH-PLTD yang dilengkapi dengan FT2PSS diperbaiki secara significan.

The paper investigates the tuning of a second order compensator from the first compensators generation when used to control a highly oscillating second order process. It compares the performance characteristics of the control system comprising this compensator to control the highly oscillating second order process with those resulting from the use of five compensators from the second compensators generation. The comparison covers three time-based characteristics: maximum percentage overshoot, settling time and steady-state error. All the compensators are tuned and the analysis results help control engineers to select appropriate compensators according to the desired performance characteristic for a specific application.

This paper explores the realization of a predefined-time synchronization problem for coupled memristive neural networks with multi-links (MCMNN) via nonlinear control. Several effective conditions are obtained to achieve the predefined-time synchronization of MCMNN based on the controller and Lyapunov function. Moreover, the settling time can be tunable based on a parameter designed by the controller, which is more flexible than fixed-time synchronization. Then based on the predefined-time stability criterion and the tunable settling time, we propose a secure communication scheme. This scheme can determine security of communication in the aspect of encrypting the plaintext signal with the participation of multi-links topology and coupled form. Meanwhile, the plaintext signals can be recovered well according to the given new predefined-time stability theorem. Finally, numerical simulations are given to verify the effectiveness of the obtained theoretical results and the feasibility of the secure communication scheme.
