The problem of preserving health has been and will be strategically important in any society. The Armed Forces are no exception. The relevance of the article is due to the need to find effective ways to preserve the health of subjects of the educational process in a military university. The authors proposed a structural and functional model for the development of readiness for the implementation of health-saving activities in the educational process of a military university. The axiological, cognitive, emotional and conatative components in the readiness structure are thoroughly described. The levels of readiness for realization of health-saving activities (basic-attributive, reproductive-heuristic, productive-creative) are presented. The authors also propose psychological and pedagogical conditions that contribute to the development of readiness for the implementation of health-saving activities. The research empirically proves that psychological culture is one of the determinants of the development of readiness for the realization of health-creating. The article is intended for specialists in the field of psychological and pedagogical support of the educational process, teachers and researchers of military universities, cadets, students and adjuncts interested in the problems of personal growth, preservation and health promotion.

Coelogyne Nervosa A. Rich., an endangered medicinal epiphyte (lithophyte) is a strict endemic of the Western Ghats distributed across Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. KC medium supplemented with 2,4-D is best suited for direct embryo induction from 80 days old protocorms. Hormone-free KC basal medium supported the conversion of somatic embryos into complete plantlets. For the medium-term storage experiment, somatic embryos were placed on storage media containing various growth inhibitors (such as different levels of chlormequat, maleic hydrazide and paclobutrazol). They were stored for ten months to assess the percentage of survival. The surviving shoots were transferred to the recovery medium for eight weeks. At 8°C, the highest survival rate was observed with ABA at 0.2 mg L−1. For cryopreservation: droplet-vitrification best results were obtained when the somatic embryos, after 20 days of subculture were immersed in an osmoprotectant solution. Osmo-protected samples were immersed in PVS2 (15% ethylene glycol and 15% DMSO) at 0°C for 30 min. Pre-prepared Somatic embryos were plunged into cryovials for one day. Regrowth levels were as high as 70%. DNA samples extracted from leaves of the mother plant, somatic embryos without storage, regenerates of slow growth preservation and cryopreservation. The samples were analysed by DNA based molecular marker – inter simple sequence repeats (ISSR) and found no genetic changes during the cryopreservation process.

With the notable exception of angiosperms, all phototrophs contain different sets of flavodiiron proteins that help to relieve the excess of excitation energy on the photosynthetic electron transport chain during adverse environmental conditions, presumably by reducing oxygen directly to water. Among them, the Flv2-Flv4 dimer is only found in β-cyanobacteria and induced by high light, supporting a role in stress protection. The possibility of a similar protective function in plants was assayed by expressing Synechocystis Flv2-Flv4 in chloroplasts of tobacco and Arabidopsis. Flv-expressing plants exhibited increased tolerance toward high irradiation, salinity, oxidants, and drought. Stress tolerance was reflected by better growth, preservation of photosynthetic activity, and membrane integrity. Metabolic profiling under drought showed enhanced accumulation of soluble sugars and amino acids in transgenic Arabidopsis and a remarkable shift of sucrose into starch, in line with metabolic responses of drought-tolerant genotypes. Our results indicate that the Flv2-Flv4 complex retains its stress protection activities when expressed in chloroplasts of angiosperm species by acting as an additional electron sink. The flv2-flv4 genes constitute a novel biotechnological tool to generate plants with increased tolerance to agronomically relevant stress conditions that represent a significant productivity constraint.

The relevance of the article is caused due to the need to find constructive ways to preserve the psychological health of specialists. The authors identified a statistical relationship between indicators of psychological health and the harmony of psychological culture, which makes it possible to consider it as a pedagogical condition for the development of professional and personal resources. Psychological culture is presented as an integrative trait of the personality of a professional, combining the psychological and acmeological content as well as aspects of the meaning of life and professional orientation, personal and professional qualities and relationships that provide creative self-realization, productiveness of activity, satisfaction with work and interactions. The implementation of the proposed recommendations will ensure the correction of personal attitude towards a healthy lifestyle, optimize the psychological status, reduce the adverse effect of stress factors, and actualize the desire for self-realization. The article is intended for specialists in the field of psychological and pedagogical support of the educational process, teachers and researchers of military universities, cadets, students and adjuncts interested in the problems of personal growth, preservation and strengthening of psychological health.

Introduces the rise of neighborhood activism in Northeast Los Angeles in the 1980s against the backdrop of “slow growth” preservation and local control movements in California and around the nation. Case study of Eagle Rock, where The Eagle Rock Association (TERA) led a series of protests against mini-malls, condominiums, mansions and “big box” chain stores, in favor of better coordinated land-use planning preservation of natural and architectural landmarks, and “Take Back the Boulevard” for bikers and pedestrians. The case of Highland Park, where citizen activists and preservationists worked to create a Historic Preservation Overlay Zone (HPOZ) to save historic buildings and better regulate land-use planning. It chronicles the rise of the Friends of the Southwest Museum Coalition to oppose the veritable warehousing of the Southwest Museum and storage of the collection in Burbank by its new owner, the Autry National Center of the West. Examines the internal politics of neighborhood activism, the significant participation of women leaders, and the question of minority participation. The chapter finishes with the political legacy of the slow growth movements of Northeast Angeles, which are expressed through a progressive coalition of neighborhood activist organizations with Democratic Latino city councilmen.

The objectives of this research were to estimate responses of several sweet potato genotypes in preservation media through in vitro slow growth preservation, and to achieve cheap and accessible media. Experiment was arranged in a completely randomized design with a single factor. The experimental factor was sweet potato genotype (Sukuh, 421.34,343.15 and 2040.8). These genotype were tested in a preservation media which consisted of 15% coconut water +  30 mg/l aspirin + 50 g/l sucrose + 7 g/l agar. Experiment was replicated four times. Data was analyzed parametrically and non-parametrically. The result showed that genotype gave high responses to preservation media. Genotype Sukuh produced highest leaves while genotype 421.34 yielded highest numbers of root and internode. In the preservation medium of Genotype Sukuh through in vitro slow growth preservation, aspirin could be added to inhibit growth by increased leaf senesence. This experiment also showed that Hiponex (20:20:20) could be used as the basic media for in vitro preservation of sweet potato

Abstract Pelagic egg surveys are commonly used to map Atlantic cod spawning areas in the northeastern Atlantic. However, a sampling location may not necessarily indicate a spawning location, because more developed eggs may have drifted long distances in coastal currents. Newly spawned eggs have only a few embryonic cells, whereas eggs in later developmental stages have progressively larger numbers of cells and hence greater amounts of DNA. The progression through developmental stages largely depends on temperature, which influences cell division and growth. Preservation of the eggs for later analysis presents logistical dilemmas. Preservation in ethanol is suitable for DNA extraction but obscures developmental stage, as the eggs shrink and turn opaque. On the other hand, preservation in formaldehyde retains visual characteristics, but this method limits the ability to extract intact DNA. Here we report a method to estimate developmental stages in Atlantic cod eggs by assaying the amount of DNA from eggs preserved in ethanol. We used a correlation between the amount of DNA in an egg and its embryonic developmental stage in samples from western Norway and used this correlation to estimate developmental stages of eggs sampled in northern Norway.
