Abstract This paper discusses the question of modeling and simulation of water levels control in open canals as a key decition of water and energy resources scarsity in the vegetation period of agricultural irrigation. The mathematical model of the water levels control in open canals is developed and the outcomes are evaluated using by Matlab’s tool Simulink. In addition, the paper proposes that the pivot weir or overshot gate for water levels control in open canals is simple in terms of precise and quality control of the upstream and downstream water levels control. Then dynamic equation of control object that describes dynamic state of the water levels control was obtained. A functional diagram has been developed and PID control was applied for the water levels control in the open canals. PID control was applied for the water levels control in the open canals to know how faster response the object to disturbance. Based on functional diagram the model of the system was built in Simulink environment and obtained the dynamic response.

Abstract The possibility of synthesis of ultra-fast universal optical digital-to-analog converter (DAC) providing conversion of digital information into analog information in giga- and terahertz ranges, including in digital systems based on N-digit logic, is considered. The functional diagram of the optical DAC containing technologically well-developed optical elements is given, the principle of operation is described in detail. The possibility of implementing this DAC with the speed potentially possible for optical data processing circuits is shown.

The publication proposes a functional diagram of the connection of the air navigation system to the unified transport system as a subsystem for providing air transportation. This paper consists an analysis of the transport system development factors: goals and principles of building an air navigation system; activities of the trust and alliance in the domestic air transportation market; the need to determine the catchment areas of transport infrastructures. The main result of this publication is the concept of air navigation system development. It is given the concept of mathematical model indicators connection of air navigation system. The list of indicators is given, table “Proposed and real goals of the air navigation system”, figure – ‘Network indicator structure’.

The article is devoted to the study of the state of diagnosing the integrity of cables. The current state of diagnostics of problems of damage of cables is shown. Formulas for calculating several signals reflected from damage have been removed. To ensure the automation of the measurement process, based on the functional diagram of the automatic diagnostic device with measurement of distances to damage by the combined pulse-phase method, a block diagram of an automated distance meter to damage was developed, which allows measuring the investigated cable in automatic mode. This reduces the loss of time to perform measurement operations and ensure the required sequence of actions without the participation of the operator.

The article describes the elements of the project for the development of software tools for automating decision support processes when planning measures for the development of a regional network of automobile gas filling compressor stations: diagrams of the design and construction of gas filling stations; the problem of finding places for the rational placement of gas filling stations according to the criteria of process (industrial equipment parameters), structure, cost and topology optimality. The functional diagram contains a description of all information flows and control flows. A variant of the solution of the problem of placing objects of transportation with natural gas, using an algorithm of directed enumeration of variants of solutions, is proposed.
