Chitosan is a well-known subjectof researchbecause of its beneficial properties, including its antibacterial and fungicidal activity, as well as its effect on plant physiology. One of the maindifficulties in agricultural chitosan implementation is the poor solubility of high molecular chitosan in water. Reducing themolecular weight of chitosan by acid hydrolysis increases its solubility. This research studied the effect of chitosan hydrolysate on the germination and development ofSolanum lycopersicum L. plants. Theeffects of chitosan hydrolysate on seed germination, shoot development in the first week of development and in the first month of development were evaluated. According to the results, high concentrations of chitosan hydrolysate completely inhibited seed germination. However, short-term treatment by high concentrations of chitosan hydrolysate stimulatedthe development of seedlings, leading to substantially longerroots. Regular root application of high concentrations of chitosan hydrolysate inhibited plant development. Keywords: chitosan hydrolysate, chitosan, plant growth regulators, plant germination

Abstract The purpose of this study was to see the interaction between the concentration of Polyethylene Glycol and various varieties of kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus L.) On plant germination. This study used a completely randomized factorial design with 3 replications. The factors used for the study were varieties of kenaf (Karang Proso 6, Karang Proso 9 and Karang Proso 15) and the concentration of Polyethylene Glycol (0, 3, 5, and 7 ppm). Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (F test) using least significant difference (LSD) test of 5%. There was an interaction between the concentration of Polyethylene Glycol and kenaf varieties on germination power. Karang Proso 9 variety was consistent with several concentrations of Polyethylene Glycol which had higher germination compared to other varieties. Polyethylene Glycol concentration did not affect hypocotyl length, seed germination uniformity, dry weight of the varieties of Karang Proso 6, Karang Proso 9 and Karang Proso 15.

The present study aimed to evaluate the autotoxic effect of Anagyrus foetida root, flower, and leaves alkaloids on the seed germination and growth of the same species. The pot experiment was conducted for three concentrations i.e. 4, 8, and 12% of aqueous extracts of root, flower, and leaves. Further, the seed and leaves were evaluated for their alkaloids content i.e. cytisine, aporphine, and anagyrine by high-performance liquid chromatography. The results of the study suggested that seed treated by 4% root extract showed a decrease in aporphine, cytisine, and anagyrine. While the seed treated with the flower and leaves extract (12%) showed a lower concentration of all three alkaloids as compared to untreated control. While a mixture of all three parts extracts at 4% concentration showed a minimum concentration of aporphine, cytisine, and anagyrine alkaloids in the treated seeds. Anagyrus foetida roots effectively secret allelopathic compounds which inhibit A. foetida plant germination and growth. The allelopathy effect of plants can be studied in the integrated management of poisonous plants. Results of the study suggested that the farmers should not repeat the A. foetida plantation continue two successive years.

The aim of this research was to determine the effect of micronutrients and a fungicide on the germination of perennial ryegrass seeds. The experiment was conducted between 2016 and 2018 in Blizocin (51°22′ N, 17°09′ E), Poland. The first experimental factor was InnoFert Mikro, a micronutrient fertilizer used at doses of 0.5 and 1 L∙ha−1, while the second factor was the Soprano 125 S.C. fungicide used at the same doses. From each of the plots, 100 seeds were collected and placed on a Petri dish. Then, every day for 14 days, the plant germination was observed. The highest germination capacity of 95.3% was recorded for seeds from plots where combined full doses of the experimental factors were applied. This figure was 2% higher than for the control sample. The germination speed of the seeds from the above plot, determined by Maguire’s index, was the highest out of the other seed groups, although the seeds from the above plot had the longest average germination time. It was also noted that by increasing the dose of micronutrient fertilizer, the germination speed also increased. In the case of the fungicide, half a dose had a positive effect on germination, but increasing the dose to 1 L∙ha−1 resulted in fewer germinated plants when compared to the control sample.

The article presents the results of phytotesting of soil solutions with high concentrations of heavy metal ions. The sensitivity of Donbass species plant to soil pollution was established by specific transformations in the structures of the embryonic root Achillea nobilis L., Artemisia vulgaris L., Centaurea diffusa Lam., Galinsoga parviflora Cav., Senecio vulgaris L., Tripleurospermum inodorum (L.) Sch. Bip. Model experiments on plant germination were carried out in laboratory conditions with fixed concentrations of individual metals and with joint pollution, as well as when testing soil samples taken in the zones of influence of industrial facilities of Don-bass.
