The business of buying and selling used cars is increasingly substantial in Indonesia, in the era of globalization progressively developing depends on demands a process that must be fast, precise, and economical. Repair to body, chassis, and engine are competency expertise in the field of Automotive Engineering that emphasizes automotive repair service skills.  at now selling price of used cars, it is necessary to do repairs, the process of repairing used cars or better known as refurbishment work pre-owned cars is mostly done by small-scale used car buying and selling businesses. In order for used cars to return to their like-new condition, generally small-scale used car sellers carry out the process of repairing the vehicle themselves, especially repairs to the vehicle's body paint. This study aims to process of painting a Toyota Avanza car bodypaint against the thickness of the paint using a spray booth tool by using the model of central composite design (CCD). The effect of spray-on booth temperature, interstice size of the spray gun, and time according to the thickness of the paint will be analyzed using the CCD method. This spray booth painting technology is expected to help reduce bodypaint lead time. The results of the ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) regression analysis, the temperature of the spray booth, interstice size of the spray gun, and time are the factors that most significantly affect the thickness of the paint. The operating conditions to produce optimal paint thickness are temperature 55oC, interstice size of spray gun of 1.7 mm and time of painting and drying of 30 minutes, the resulted of a thickness of the paint for used and new cars are 130.2 μm and 81.84 μm., with a coefficient of determination for used and new cars of 90.78% and 96.19%.

AbstractThe integrity and properties of ceramic coatings produced by atmospheric plasma spraying are highly controlled by the splat morphology and splat interconnection. In this study, the influence of selected parameters (spray angle, surface velocity of the spray gun, and substrate temperature) on splat morphology and coating microstructure was investigated. A favorite set of spray gun parameters, of which their effects on splat morphology and coating microstructure have been verified by previous experiments, were used to conduct the experiments for the present work. It was found that depositing fully molten particles on a hot substrate increases the fraction of disk-like splats by about 60% at the expense of the fraction of irregular splats. Preheating the substrate also increases the pore count and level of coating porosity, while it does not influence the density of segmentation cracks. In contrast, the surface velocity of the spray gun does not affect the splat morphology while a slow speed decreases the coating porosity and plays a significant role in generating segmentation cracks. Shifting the spray angle by 15° distorts up to 20% of disk-like splats and slightly decreases the porosity level. However, changing the spray angle does not affect the generation of segmentation cracks.

Wall painting is a repetitive, stressful, and hazardous process that makes it an ideal automation case. In the automotive industry, painting had been automated but not yet for the construction industry. However, there is a strong need for a mobile robot that can move to paint residential interior walls. In this study, we aim to design and implement an automatic painting mobile robot. The conceptual design of the proposed wall painting robot consisting paint mechanism with a spray gun and ultrasonic sensor. The spray gun is attached to a pulley mechanism that has linear motion. The ultrasonic sensor is used to detect the spray gun when it reached a certain limit. The DC motor rotates clockwise and counterclockwise based on the ultrasonic sensor condition made. The experimental results indicate that the robot was able to paint the walls smoothly vertically, and horizontally. The spraying gun structure's speed is at a tolerable speed of 0.07 m/s, which could be increased, but to provide high-quality painting without any gaps, the current speed was selected as the most suitable, without any harm to the working process.

The current work evaluated spray coverage and pest control effectiveness against the grape berry moth (Lobesia botrana) by two different spray technologies and volume rates: A spray gun (high-volume sprayer—HVS) calibrated at 1000 L ha−1 and a conventional orchard sprayer calibrated at 500 L ha−1 (OS500) or 250 L ha−1 (OS250). Experiments were carried out in three different grape varieties over two years in mountain vineyards on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. The median coverage for HVS remained above 80% for all three varieties, while that for OS500 ranged from 26% to 56%, and that for OS250 from 18% to 37%. Infestation by the grape berry moth varied from about 2.5% for Palomino, to 8% for Carignan and 3.2% for Xynisteri. Infestation in sprayed plots remained below 1.8% for all treatments, varieties and study years. Although infestation levels in OS250 were not different than the control in two varieties, the infestation levels among sprayer treatments did not differ by more than one percentage point. The current work suggests that lowering application volume and pesticide amount to 50% or more, in some cases, provides adequate control and represents an effective option for reducing pesticide use in vineyards.

Spraying is one of the critical operations in agriculture. The importance of the use of chemical pesticides was well recognized in agriculture.  Consumption of pesticides was increasing year by year, on the other hand, wastage of chemical pesticides also alarming due to excess application of pesticides. The quality spraying affects several operational factors.  Tractor operated swinging lance sprayer developed for obtaining uniformity in spraying.  Four operational factors such as spacing between spray guns, spray gun height, swing angle and pressure were considered to evaluate and optimize the operational factors for effective swath width. Full factorial design considered using Minitab software tool, 243 experiments (34*3) conducted for the study. The main effects of each factor, 2-way interaction effects and 3-way interaction effects are significant at 5% level of significance. The swath width is significantly influenced by swing angle followed by spacing between spray guns for both the spray guns. The percentage contribution of swing angle, spacing between spray guns, height of spray gun and operating pressure on swath width was 44.37%, 37.62%, 2.51% and 2.02% respectively. The optimum combination of operational parameters for effective swath width was s3 - h2 – a3 – p2. The obtained optimum operation combination for swath width significantly improved the performance of spraying activity.

Mitra kegiatan Program Kemitraan Masyarakat (PKM) ini adalah Usaha Mikro, Kecil Menengah  Car Body Paint. Permasalahan yang terjadi pada mitra yakni kurangnya alat kerja yang memadai untuk melakukan kegiatan operasional, manajemen usaha yang belum tertata, sumber daya manusia yang kurang profesional dalam bekerja, dan inovasi strategi pemasaran yang belum tepat sehingga usaha sulit berkembang. Tujuan utama kegiatan Program Kemitraan Masyarakat yang berjudul “Optimalisasi Usaha Mikro, Kecil Menengah Car Body Paint Berbasis Total Quality Management dan Inovasi Strategi Pemasaran” adalah mengatasi berbagai masalah kurangnya alat kerja yang memadai untuk melakukan kegiatan operasional, sumber daya manusia yang kurang profesional dalam bekerja, manajemen usaha yang belum tertata, dan strategi pemasaran yang ada pada mitra usaha tersebut. Berbagai masalah tersebut, membuat masih cukup sulit bagi mitra usaha untuk mengembangkan usahanya sehingga perlu dilakukan sebuah Program Kemitraan Masyarakat (PKM) yang bersifat problem solving dan partisipatif sesuai dengan masalah yang dihadapi oleh mitra usaha tersebut. Kegiatan ini melibatkan 2 (dua) mahasiswa Fakultas Ekonomi dan Bisnis Prodi Manajemen Univesitas Muhammadiyah Jember dengan harapan agar mereka belajar bagaimana penerapan TQM dan berinovasi dalam strategi pemasaran di dunia usaha serta membantu terlaksana kegiatan ini. Target khusus dalam program PKM ini ditekankan pada penyediaan alat kerja yang dapat meningkatkan produktifitas, penerapan Total Quality Management, dan pendampingan melakukan inovasi strategi pemasaran. Diharapkan target luaran pada Program Kemitraan Masyarakat ini antara lain: 1) Pengadaan alat kerja yang lebih lengkap dan modern sehingga dapat meningkatkan produktivitas yakni dengan pengadaan Spray Gun, Compresor, mesin poles, Tool Set Mekanik dan Alat Ketok Magic untuk Mobil Penyok. 2) Pembenahan struktur organisasi dan pembagian tugas karyawan yang jelas pada mitra usaha. 3) Pelatihan dan pendampingan pelaksanaan Total Quality Management sehingga usaha dijalankan dengan manajemen terpadu dan semua sumber daya manusia yang terlibat berkerja secara profesional dan dengan pembagian pekerjaan yang jelas, dan 4) Pelatihan dan pendampingan malakukan inovasi strategi pemasaran yang tepat. Kata kunci : UMKM, Car Body Paint, Total Quality Management, Inovasi Strategi Pemasaran
