This study examines information-sharing practices within the Seasonal Agricultural Worker Program (SAWP), focusing on the program as it is administered within Ontario. I analyze 61 documents for their content, codification of stakeholder relationships, and discourse regarding the program. Documents were selected based on their creation, use, or circulation within Ontario, and based on the likelihood that at least one stakeholder group would look to the document for (what they perceive to be) reliable information. Documents include, for example, SAWP contracts, webpages describing program requirements, and e-pamphlets on workplace safety and accessing services. Document analysis was supplemented by interviews with industry and service provider experts, which guided interpretation of documents’ significance. I argue that documents function as material actors, alongside (and sometimes beyond) human actors, and make physical impact on SAWP bodies and realities. Documents construct and uphold neoliberal structures surrounding the program by contributing to the creation and sustaining of incomplete, labour-centric individuals. Through consistent sharing of narrow, “work” information, and the rare inclusion of more well-rounded, “non-work” knowledge, documents subtly discipline the boundaries of acceptable and unacceptable communication. In doing so, material actors (alongside other SAWP actors) perpetuate a foreign worker program which does not consider the varied, complex needs of whole persons but, instead, treats them as disposable labouring bodies.

This article discusses a brief history of ‘modern’ social work in India before 1936. I present how abstract conceptions of scientifically informed and organized social work practice were brewing in colonial India, along with attempts to assemble or organize it. I use these accounts to further present certain nuances on the modalities of imported social work knowledge that dominated social work education in India after 1936.

An effective leadership model can influence the personality of the leader himself. Every leader must be able to have aspects that can support efforts in improving good relations with members of the organization. The reality is that leaders must be able to deal with their members (employees) who have different characters, dispositions, and ideologies, the same as individual human traits who have different traits, attitudes, ways of thinking and views. Therefore, the figure of a leader must have the ability to influence the opinions and attitudes of others in order to carry out employee duties professionally. Employee performance really determines the results of the achievement of organizational performance, it is necessary to have a good system to be able to improve employee performance to support success in leading the company. The method in this study uses qualitative research with a descriptive approach. This research uses Aji's theory which includes Ingarso sung tulodo, Ing madyo mangunkarso, and Tut wuri handayani and also uses Bernandin and Russel's theory which covers the amount of work, work quality, work knowledge, creativity, cooperation, initiative, and personality. The results of this study indicate that the leadership model is very influential in improving employee performance and can also provide the best results for the company so that this increase becomes an achievement for all.

The research culture of research institutions is increasingly recognized as an central driver of research integrity and institutions are urged to develop research integrity promotion plans to foster a culture of research integrity. A host of guidelines and associated initiatives have been issued, but what is generally lacking is specific, actionable recommendations for institutions. Based on a broad literature review, in the current paper some practical advice for institutions is suggested, grouped into 1) policies, procedures and processes, 2) dealing with breaches of research integrity, and 3) education and training. From the review, it is clear that more research is necessary to gather additional knowledge on what works and what doesn’t work, knowledge that is ideally shared openly. This will allow institutions to learn from one another, facilitate harmonization of policies, and may possibly create a virtuous cycle that empowers the shift towards a culture of collective openness in science.

In a recent issue of Families in Society, Caputo argues for the “centrality” of peer review in the cultivation of social work knowledge. Specifically, he favors the double-blind model of peer review. In this paper, I argue that social work should adopt a more dynamic set of reviewing practices. First, I define some terminology and discuss the limitations of the current double-blind model. Then, I describe recent trends in peer review, which I argue foster a more robust and open system. I frame this discussion within the context of the wider open science movement and urge social workers to engage with these scholarly practices. In line with these practices and values, a freely accessible preprint is available at: https://osf.io/preprints/socarxiv/rvqze/

The form of community involvement is attending planning invitations and being involved in decision-making. The community is involved in the implementation of Wakumoro tourism object management activities. The form of community involvement during implementation is being involved in the procurement of tourist facilities which include participating in community service, opening food stalls, and as a service provider such as motorcycle taxis and swimming aids. The community is involved in evaluating the management of the Wakumoro bathing tourist attraction in Wakumoro Village, Parigi District, Muna Regency. The form of community involvement during the evaluation is attending the invitation to evaluation activities and being involved in decision making. Factors that influence community involvement in the management of Wakumoro tourism objects are work or busyness factors in meeting the needs of daily life and the lack of community knowledge about tourism so that in every meeting from planning, implementation to evaluation, they do not provide ideas. Overall work, knowledge, and level of education are factors that influence community involvement in the management of Wakumoro bathing tourism objects.

Purpose COVID-19 has been a big reset to human resource (HR) processes. Organizations’ HR functions around the world have been working hard to effect a response that falls under four main headings: jobs and work continuity; physical health and well-being; need for mental health, resilience, family support and dealing with uncertainty; and remote work. Knowledge of whether and how these responses have been adopted by health organizations or their potential impact is scarce. Design/methodology/approach This paper discusses some of the HR strategies adopted or recommended for adoption by health systems/organizations with specific reference to the aforementioned HR response categories. Findings The evidence available illustrates that the HR responses adopted by health organizations are mostly in line with those adopted by organizations from other sectors, though not without some variances. The findings also suggest that COVID has acted as a “technological catalyst” for HR practices in health organizations. Research limitations/implications The background readings that informed this study also helped to identify some literature gaps that could be addressed by future research and practice. Practical implications The state of the art presented in this paper may be of value to health leaders and health HR managers in further strengthening their responses to both pre-existing and post-COVID people-related challenges. Originality/value This work is timely considering existing literature gaps and the fact that the existing evidence gets outdated quickly as the emergency progresses.
