Abstract Background Pacific Islanders (PIs), an indigenous, diverse population in the USA, have endured generational burdens of Western colonization and institutional racism that placed this population at socioeconomic and health disadvantages, such as in poverty, chronic disease, and now COVID-19. However, little is known about the impact of COVID-19 on this historically disadvantaged population. This study assessed the extent US PIs have been adversely affected by COVID-19 across the 50 states. Methods Using state-level national data as of September 9th, 2020, we conducted a secondary-data analysis of COVID-19 cases and deaths in PIs relative to their population representation and other racial groups, case odds ratios, and age-adjusted standard mortality ratios. Key Results Only 46% of states reported PI cases and 36% of states reported PI deaths. Of 23 states with available data on PIs, PIs were overrepresented in COVID-19 cases and deaths relative to their population representation in 21 and 14 states, respectively. The proportion of COVID-19 cases and deaths to the PI population was highest among all racial groups in 15 and 9 states, respectively. PIs had higher odds of exposure to COVID-19 than Whites in 21 of 23 states, and higher number of observed deaths than expected in 6 of 7 states with available PI data. Conclusions Engaging PI community-based and faith-based organizations in medical and public health outreach efforts, health workforce employment and training programs, along with granular data collection and reporting, are vital to mitigate the disproportionate effects of COVID-19 on this population.

This study aims to determine how much the relationship between Organizational Culture and Work Stress on Employee Performance at Pt. Nusantara Bonded Zone (Persero) North Jakarta. The purpose and research is to obtain a systematic description of organizational culture and stress as independent variables and performance as included variables, verificatively aims to test the hypothesis with statistical calculations. In this study using descriptive and verification research methods. The population in this study were employees of PT Kawasan Berikat Nusantara (Persero) which was planned to be 104 people divided into several divisions and positions. The sample used in this study is saturated sample, saturated sample is also often interpreted as the maximum sample, because added no matter how much will not change the population representation. In the research sample, all employees who work at PT Kawasan Berikat Nusantara (Persero). The types of data used by researchers in research on the influence of organizational culture and work stress on performance are primary and secondary data. Data collection techniques conducted by researchers are, questionnaire interviews, observation. Berikat Nusantara (Persero). Organizational culture contributes partially by 15.6% to performance. Meanwhile, work stress contributed partially by 9.7% to performance. Because 15.6% is greater than 9.7%, it can be stated that the Organizational Culture variable contributes more to performance than the Work Stress variable. The effect of the simultaneous influence of Organizational Culture and Work Stress on Employee Performance at PT Kawasan Berikat Nusantara (Persero) is 25.3%. Based on a population-representation approach using census data we explored the breadth of research in the Journal of Latinx Psychology ( N = 154) and Hispanic Journal of Behavioral Sciences ( N = 94) with respect to distribution across states and nationality background of the Latinx’ samples. Over 90% of the empirical studies are based on Latinx samples within the US. Out of those, only 60% provided information specific enough to identify the ethnic background of the sample beyond Hispanic/Latinx or other vague descriptors (e.g., “multiethnic”). With 80% of the samples, Mexicans are overrepresented compared to the population statistics of (documented) Latinx in the US. Findings also reveal an overrepresentation of the Southwest region compared to the overall distribution of Latinx across the US. It is suggested that Latinx journals take a more active role in fostering publications of Latinx subpopulations which are often clustered in regions other than the Southwest.

The body donation program of Peking Union Medical College was established in May 1999. From May 1999 to December 2017, a total of 5,576 registrants registered and 1,459 donors donated their bodies. Demographic and medical characteristics of the donors were analyzed. The top four causes of death were neoplasms, heart diseases, respiratory diseases, and cerebrovascular diseases. Age at death among donors who died of neoplasms were significantly lower than other causes of death (all p < .05), and the interval between registration and donation among donors who died of neoplasms was significantly shorter than that among donors with other causes (all p < .001). The age of donors when they registered ( p < .001) and donated ( p < .001) was significantly older than that of general Beijing population. This study may provide a guide for medical colleges or research institutions to establish or enhance their own body donation programs.

Big data may offer solutions for many challenges for transportation safety, providing more data faster, with higher spatial and temporal resolution. However, researchers and practitioners identify biases in big data that need to be explored and examined before performing data-driven decision-making. Leveraging semi-structured interviews of big data experts, this study includes a quantified analysis of topic frequency and an evaluation of the reliability of concepts through two independently trained coders. To identify the trends in the unstructured textual contents, the research team developed a text mining pipeline to identify trends, patterns, and biases. The study identifies key terms experts use when describing the role of big data in transportation safety, how the terms relate to the big data experts’ language through network plots, and clustering shows a need to focus on sources, quality, analysis, and implementation of big data. Results show value in maintaining the centrality of transportation experts and the public to determine the proper goals and metrics to evaluate transportation safety. Practitioners and researchers can develop new methods to improve population representation with big data, in addition to addressing difficult transportation safety problems. Working ahead of emerging trends and technologies of big data could support further advancements in transportation safety.

This study aims to determine the use of Anates software based media in learning evaluation courses at Batanghari University, Jambi. The design of this study uses descriptive qualitative. Meanwhile, the technique in this study uses a purposive technique that is the determination of informants not based on guidelines or based on population representation, but based on the depth of information needed related to the research problem. The results showed that there was an influence between the application of the use of Anates software-based applications in the learning evaluation course with the item analysis material at Batanghari University, Jambi. Thus, the use of media in lectures is very helpful for students to be able to understand new knowledge and insights that are not only limited to theory, but rather to practice to support the theories they learn.
