Thermophoresis and Brownian Effect for Chemically Reacting Magneto-Hydrodynamic Nanofluid Flow across an Exponentially Stretching Sheet

This comparative research investigates the influence of a flexible magnetic flux and a chemical change on the freely fluid motion of a (MHD) magneto hydrodynamic boundary layer incompressible nanofluid across an exponentially expanding sheet. Water and ethanol are used for this analysis. The temperature transmission improvement of fluids is described using the Buongiorno model, which includes Brownian movement and thermophoretic distribution. The nonlinear partial differential equalities governing the boundary layer were changed to a set of standard nonlinear differential equalities utilizing certain appropriate similarity transformations. The bvp4c algorithm is then used to tackle the transformed equations numerically. Fluid motion is slowed by the magnetic field, but it is sped up by thermal and mass buoyancy forces and thermophoretic distribution increases non-dimensional fluid temperature resulting in higher temperature and thicker boundary layers. Temperature and concentration, on the other hand, have the same trend in terms of the concentration exponent, Brownian motion constraint, and chemical reaction constraint. Furthermore, The occurrence of a magnetic field, which is aided by thermal and mass buoyancies, assists in the enhancement of heat transmission and wall shear stress, whereas a smaller concentration boundary layer is produced by a first-order chemical reaction and a lower Schmidt number.

Heat Transfer and Flow Characteristics of Pseudoplastic Nanomaterial Liquid Flowing over the Slender Cylinder with Variable Characteristics

The present article investigates heat transfer and pseudoplastic nanomaterial liquid flow over a vertical thin cylinder. The Buongiorno model is used for this analysis. The problem gains more significance when temperature-dependent variable viscosity is taken into account. Using suitable similarity variables, nonlinear flow equations are first converted into ordinary differential equations. The generating structure is solved by the MATLAB BVP4C algorithm. Newly developed physical parameters are focused. It is observed that the heat transfer rate and the skin friction coefficient is increased remarkably because of mixing nano-particles in the base fluid by considering γb=1, 2, 3, 4 and λ=1, 1.5, 2, 2.5,3. It is found that the temperature field increases by inclining the values of thermophoresis and Brownian motion parameters. It is also evaluated that the velocity field decreases by increasing the values of the curvature parameter, Weissenberg number and buoyancy ratio characteristics.

Thermal energy transport in thin film flow of nanofluid over a decelerating rotating disk

The thin film flow in nanotechnology is one of the most modern progresses in the study of thin films. This includes coating with nanocomposite materials, thus providing the materials improved mechanical properties due to a so-called size effect. The ultimate functional properties that can be gained are of high adherence, wear resistance, thermal conductivity, oxidation resistance, higher toughness and hardness. This article studies the transient motion of nanofluid thin film over a disk rotating with angular velocity inversely proportional to the time. The importance of Lorentz force arises due to the axial projection of magnetic flux is studied on thin film flow and heat transfer. Two active mechanisms of nanoparticles, namely thermophoresis and Brownian diffusion, are discussed using Buongiorno model. By adopting a similarity method, the velocity distribution thermal and concentration fields above the rotating disk are simulated numerically and assessed graphically. Numerical illustrations for nanofluid film thickness, skin friction and heat and mass transfer rates are depicted against the impacts of several influential parameters. Results highlight that film thickness reduces with unsteadiness and rotation parameters. The results also spectacle that the involvement of a magnetic beam reduces the velocity of nanofluid film. Further, it is observed that thermophoresis and Brownian motion effects make a better influence in enhancing the heat transfer rate.

Radiation effects on 3D rotating flow of Cu-water nanoliquid with viscous heating and prescribed heat flux using modified Buongiorno model

In this article, the three-dimensional (3D) flow and heat transport of viscous dissipating Cu-H2O nanoliquid over an elongated plate in a rotating frame of reference is studied by considering the modified Buongiorno model. The mechanisms of haphazard motion and thermo-migration of nanoparticles along with effective nanoliquid properties are comprised in the modified Buongiorno model (MBM). The Rosseland radiative heat flux and prescribed heat flux at the boundary are accounted. The governing nonlinear problem subjected to Prandtl’s boundary layer approximation is solved numerically. The consequence of dimensionless parameters on the velocities, temperature, and nanoparticles volume fraction profiles is analyzed via graphical representations. The temperature of the base liquid is improved significantly owing to the existence of copper nanoparticles in it. The phenomenon of rotation improves the structure of the thermal boundary layer, while, the momentum layer thickness gets reduced. The thermal layer structure gets enhanced due to the Brownian movement and thermo-migration of nanoparticles. Moreover, it is shown that temperature enhances owing to the presence of thermal radiation. In addition, it is revealed that the haphazard motion of nanoparticles decays the nanoparticle volume fraction layer thickness. Also, the skin friction coefficients found to have a similar trend for larger values of rotation parameter. Furthermore, the results of the single-phase nanoliquid model are limiting the case of this study.

Comparative Numerical Study of Thermal Features Analysis between Oldroyd-B Copper and Molybdenum Disulfide Nanoparticles in Engine-Oil-Based Nanofluids Flow

Apart from the Buongiorno model, no effort was ably accomplished in the literature to investigate the effect of nanomaterials on the Oldroyd-B fluid model caused by an extendable sheet. This article introduces an innovative idea regarding the enforcement of the Tiwari and Das fluid model on the Oldroyd-B fluid (OBF) model by considering engine oil as a conventional base fluid. Tiwari and Das’s model takes into account the volume fraction of nanoparticles for heat transport enhancement compared to the Buongiorno model that depends significantly on thermophoresis and Brownian diffusion impacts for heat transport analysis. In this paper, the thermal characteristics of an Oldroyd-B nanofluid are reported. Firstly, the transformation technique is applied on partial differential equations from boundary-layer formulas to produce nonlinear ordinary differential equations. Subsequently, the Keller-box numerical system is utilized to obtain final numerical solutions. Copper engine oil (Cu–EO) and molybdenum disulfide engine oil (MoS2–EO) nanofluids are considered. From the whole numerical findings and under the same condition, the thermodynamic performance of MoS2–EO nanofluid is higher than that of Cu–EO nanofluid. The thermal efficiency of Cu–EO over MoS2–EO is observed between 1.9% and 43%. In addition, the role of the porous media parameter is to reduce the heat transport rate and to enhance the velocity variation. Finally, the impact of the numbers of Reynolds and Brinkman is to increase the entropy.
