The aim of the reseach is to elaborate the use of  the imagery in the novel: The Client. Starting from the definition of Imagery, the imagery found in the novel, then to find out what John Grisham’s - as the writer of the novel - intention to use imagery in his novel. The objectives of analysis is to have some knowledge deeper about the use of imagery in The Client by John Grisham and how he takes the readers into Mark Sway’s traumatic experience and how he helps the readers understand Mark Sway’s position through imagery found. This study adopts library research (Library Research) which contains an in-depth collection of material on one or several subjects (Young, 1983; p. 188). This study covers the inclusion of primary sources as well as secondary sources. There are 5 types of imagery found in The Client. They are Visual Imagery, Auditory Imagery, Internal Sensation Imagery, Olfactory Imagery and Tactile Imagery.

Epistemology is one of three philosophical dichotomies that rises to two main isms to obtain knowledge: rationalism initiated by Rene Descartes (1596-1650) and empiricism initiated by John Lock (1632-1704). As an empiricist, Locke offers the tabula rasa theory to support his argument. Thus, this study aims to describe radically and comprehensively the concept of John Locke's thought from the perspective of epistemological philosophy. This aim is achieved by describing the background and principal works of John Lock on the philosophy of epistemology, including the main ideas, views, and reasoning of his empiricism through tabula rasa theory. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative in the field of philosophy. Data were collected through a literature study, then analyzed hermeneutically with two methodical elements: verstehen and interpret. First, this research shows that knowledge is principally obtained from sensory experience in which the mind is only passive. Second, the sensory experience is obtained objectively (primary quality) and subjectively (secondary quality). Third, external sensation and internal sensation obtained from sensory experience are built into simple ideas to complex ideas.

This study aims to identify modern bureaucratic government phenomenon expressed in W.H. Auden’s poem “The Unknown Citizen” (UC). This phenomenon will be revealed through the use of figures of speech, symbols and imagery in the poem. This poem is chosen as the object of the study since phenomenon happened in the poem represents people’s life and government practice in the modern era. Government, in the poem, seems to be very dominant. Its bureaucratic apparatus is powerful. Through its sophisticated technology, the bureau of statistics is able to detect the citizen’s identity. But, ironically, it could have not identified UC’s name as he lived in the world. He, then, was honored by the state by being erected the marble monument. The poem is analyzed by applying phenomenological criticism. The analysis finds that the representation of modern government is expressed through symbols emphasized by dramatic irony and supported by the use of internal sensation imagery. UC is the allegory of the average person with his bravery he sacrifices for the country. The state ought to give him an honor. In this poem Auden, actually, wants to write a parody for establishing monuments in some countries to honor the struggles of their soldiers who died in the World War I. Those monuments are really tombs since the function of a monument is a state’s thanksgiving for their sacrifice.

The purpose of this study was to describe the figurative meaning applied in the poetry written by Chairil Anwar “Krawang-Bekasi”. This study was done by applying descriptive qualitative design by in the semantics theory supported by theory of figurative meaning proposed by Leech (1981). The instrument was the researcher as the primary instrument of the study. The data were examined into the description form within the poetry. The findings showed: (1) This poetry portrayed the war in Military Aggression I and II in Indonesia and described the story of the young soldiers Indonesia to grab Indonesia‘s independency; (2) Chairil Anwar also wrote the peace messages from the young dead soldiers who killed during the war. Chairil Anwar used alliteration and refrain to make a lyrical sound; used visual imagery, internal sensation imagery, and auditory imagery to involve the reader into the poetry. To broaden the reader‘s imaginations, used personification and symbol in case to illustrate the figurative meaning in the poetry.

Semblance hypothesis was able to find a solution for the generation of first- person internal sensation of memory along with provisions for behavioral motor actions. The derived inter-postsynaptic functional LINK (IPL) mechanism was able to explain a large number of findings from different levels of the system ranging from perception to sleep. It was possible to explain long-term potentiation (LTP) as the effect of experimental scaling-up of the changes occurring during natural learning. By keeping the latter relationship as a baseline, it was possible to explain long-term depression (LTD) observed in the nucleus accumbens (NAc), a scaled-up change of a mechanism responsible for inducing internal sensation of pleasure. This mechanism provides inter-connectable explanations for the attenuation of postsynaptic potentials, reduced ring of medium spiny neurons and the finding that LTD induced by stimulation of one pathway to NAc occludes the LTD induction by another pathway.

Introduction: The "autonomous sensory meridian response" (ASMR) is a neologism used to describe an internal sensation of deep relaxation and pleasant head tingling which is often stimulated by gentle sounds, light touch, and personal attention. Methods: An fMRI-based methodology was employed to examine the brain activation of subjects prescreened for ASMR-receptivity (n=10) as they watched ASMR videos and identified specific moments of relaxation and tingling. Results: Subjects who experienced ASMR showed significant activation in regions associated with both reward (NAcc) and emotional arousal (dACC and Insula/IFG). Brain activation during ASMR showed similarities to patterns previously observed in musical frisson as well as affiliative behaviors. Conclusion: This is the first study to measure the activation of various brain regions during ASMR and these results may help to reveal the mechanistic underpinnings of this sensation.
