This study was conducted to determine the symptoms experienced by women at home and self-care agency after breast-conserving surgery. The study was carried out in a public hospital in Istanbul between January and June 2018. The sample of the study consisted of 65 women. The data were collected through face-to-face interviews using Patient Description Form, Symptom Check List and Self-Care Agency Scale during outpatient check-ups in the first and third weeks following discharge. The mean age of the women was 52.68 ± 13.24. Fatigue, weakness, pain and insomnia were mostly experienced symptoms in the first and third weeks after discharge while fever, discharge from the wound area and nausea-vomiting symptoms were the least experienced symptoms in these weeks. It was determined that women had moderate self-care agency in the first and third weeks of discharge. Women who were married and whose income was equal to their expenses had higher self-care agency, and those living alone had lower self-care agency than those living with their spouses and children ( p < 0.05). The self-care agency scores of those who did not have a chronic disease were higher than those with chronic diseases ( p < 0.05). It is found that women with breast-conserving surgery experience symptoms related to the operation in the first and third weeks of discharge. Women’s self care agency was moderate during the follow up period, meaning that these patients should be supported by nurses with regard to self care agency and symptoms experienced at home.

18th-century satirical magazines laid the foundations of the essay as a genre in the modern sense of the word. They formed a paradigm of essay in its various forms. The paper presents a typology of essays in satirical magazines. There are considered such magazines as Vsyakaya vsyachina (All Sorts of Things) edited by Catherine II, I to i se (This and That) and Parnasskiy shchepetil’nik (The Parnassian Vendor) by Mikhail Chulkov, Truten’ (The Drone), Pustomelya (The Tattler), Zhivopisets (The Painter) and Koshelek (The Purse) by Nikolai Novikov, Rasskazchik zabavnykh basen (The Teller of Amusing Stories) by Aleksandr Ablesimov etc. Essays are divided into three classes: in the first one, reflection and description form the structural basis of the text; the second is organized by narration; the third one combines the features of the first two. The classes are further subdivided into types according to the role of the editor as a fictitious persona being the primary subject of speech in the magazine. The first type of all classes is formed by essays that focus attention on the editor; articles where the editor plays a secondary role fall within the second type. In class I, type 1 is formed by essays characterizing the editor, while those in which other topics prevail fall under type 2. In class II, essays in which the editor takes part in the plot form type 1, while those where they do not fall into type 2. In class III, type 1 is characterized by the editor’s hegemony throughout the whole text, while in type 2 the editor’s position may change from part to part of the essay. The classification also takes into account such devices as dialogue and frame. Essays involving fantasy elements are specially marked. The editor’s persona makes essays in satirical magazines unique among all versions of the genre. It unites all the articles in a single magazine. This gives the magazine integrity, making it a continuum. Thus, essays become part of a complex literary unity.

This research did from the low ability phenomena of mathematical communication of SMP in Purwakarta. The low skill ability of mathematical communication can be seen from the lack of students in completing the test of mathematical communication form to provided in the first research, the purpose of this research was to examined the improvement of CTL (Contextual Teaching and Learning) skill with traditional learning and the methodology of this research using quasi-experimental method which consist of two classes. The first is experiment class treated using CTL and the second is control class treated traditional learning. The population of the research taken was students of SMP Negeri 1 Babakan Cikao and a randomly selected sample of consist of 30 students of class VII A as the experiment. Class and 30 students of class VII D as control class. The instrument of this research used 6 items about mathematical communication description form, that has been tested the validity, reliability and distinguish of power form indexed difficulty. Based on the result of data analysis have concluded that the improvement of mathematical communication ability in SMP Negeri 1 Babakan Cikao by using CTL approach is better than traditional learning.

Abstract. The aims of this research is: (1) describe the level of mastery learning and increasing students’ mathematical communication ability with problem-based learning, (2) describe students’ activity during the learing process with problem-based learning, and (3) describe students’ response to the component during  problem-based learning. This research is development research. The population of this research are all of students in SMP N 1 Gunung Malela, and the sample chosen is random with VII-3 and VII-4 with 32 students for each class. The instrument used consisted of a test mathematical communication ability of student in description form. The instrumen has been declared eligible validation and had coefisien reability pre-tes and pos-tes 0,81 and 0,62. The results of this research shown that: (1) the level of students’ mastery learning mathematical communication ability in the classical is 87,50% while the increasing of students’ mathematiucal communication abilityin first trial 2,73 increase to 3,05 in the second trial. The most increasing aspect from mathematical communication ability is drawing, (2) students’ activity during learing process with problem based learning has on efektive criteria, and (3) students’ response to the component during problem-based learning has a positive respons. The research suggests to use problem based learning as the alternative way for teacher to increase students mathematical communication abilities. Keywords: Problem Based Learning, and Mathematical Communication Ability
