This study lies within the framework of the years 1945-1955, which correspond to Clement Attlee’s Labourite and Winston Churchill’s Conservative administrations. The objective is to demonstrate, by means of an analysis of their speeches and the proposals of their respective political parties, that the ideological differences hindered a total agreement. These primary sources are examined from several perspectives. The main emphasis of this study falls on the ideology as a distinctive element and its influence on other fields such as education, the welfare system or the economy. The results reveal a lack of consensus based on their opposite political cultures.

Abstract Objectives In this study, we aimed to compare prenatal ultrasound (USG) and postmortem examination findings of central nervous system (CNS) abnormalities in fetuses following termination of pregnancy (TOP). Methods A total of 190 fetuses with USG-confirmed fetal CNS abnormalities of terminated pregnancies between January 2001 and January 2017 were retrospectively analyzed and USG and postmortem examination findings were compared. Results The most frequent CNS abnormalities were acrania/anencephaly (n=45, 24%), spina bifida (n=43, 23%), and ventriculomegaly (n=35, 18%). In 144 of the 190 (76%) cases, there was total agreement between USG and postmortem examination diagnosis. Postmortem examination provided minor findings which did not change the major clinical diagnosis in two (1%) cases with spina bifida and ventriculomegaly. In six (3%) cases, the diagnosis changed after postmortem examination. In 25 of the 190 (13%) cases with multiple abnormalities as evidenced by USG, CNS abnormality was unable to be confirmed at postmortem examination. Conclusions Our study results show an overall high agreement (76%) between USG and postmortem examination findings for CNS malformations. Due to autolysis and fluid structure, USG-confirmed CNS diagnosis cannot be always confirmed by postmortem examination. This potential discrepancy should be explained to patients before considering TOP. Postmortem examination is the gold standard to confirm prenatal diagnosis.

In 1949, it seemed that Western governments were ready to accept some delegation of sovereignty, which met the ambitions of increasingly well-organised Europeanists. One of the most ambitious advances was the proposal for a European Assembly, which could have heralded the beginning of an integration process. However, on this point, as on many others, there was not total agreement between the unionists and the federalists: for some, the Assembly was simply a co-operation structure, while others thought it should be a constituent body. The federalists—who had been united since December 1946 within the European Union of Federalists (EUF), which claimed to have no fewer than 150,000 members—were very demanding. After the adoption of the Statute of the Council of Europe on 5 May 1949, the EUF Central Committee approved a “motion on the Consultative Assembly” in which it openly demanded the drafting of a federal pact that would lead to real European power. Faced with the modest intergovernmental status of the Council of Europe, the EUF proposed that the Assembly of this Council should be transformed from a “consultative” to a “constituent” assembly, which amounted to condemning any kind of conciliatory attitude. Therefore, the constituent path was becoming more and more important within the federalist organisation: it was now a matter of pressing, without restraint, for the triumph of ideals freed from initial reluctance, in the most diverse forums. The most important of these remained the Council of Europe, which was, in the eyes of the federalists, an institution that could be improved. Defending an integrated Europe, the federalists called for the creation of a democratic power on the scale of the challenges of the time, which seemed to them to exceed that of the nation states. To achieve this, they defended a “political” vision of integration, of which the Council of Europe could be the spearhead. It is this struggle, which took place at a time when the construction of Europe seems to be based on a simple but firm act of will, that this article will examine.

Abstract Background Accessible tools to efficiently detect and segment diffusion abnormalities in acute strokes are highly anticipated by the clinical and research communities. Methods We developed a tool with deep learning networks trained and tested on a large dataset of 2,348 clinical diffusion weighted MRIs of patients with acute and sub-acute ischemic strokes, and further tested for generalization on 280 MRIs of an external dataset (STIR). Results Our proposed model outperforms generic networks and DeepMedic, particularly in small lesions, with lower false positive rate, balanced precision and sensitivity, and robustness to data perturbs (e.g., artefacts, low resolution, technical heterogeneity). The agreement with human delineation rivals the inter-evaluator agreement; the automated lesion quantification of volume and contrast has virtually total agreement with human quantification. Conclusion Our tool is fast, public, accessible to non-experts, with minimal computational requirements, to detect and segment lesions via a single command line. Therefore, it fulfills the conditions to perform large scale, reliable and reproducible clinical and translational research.

The objective of this article is describe the results obtained from the evaluation of perception in engineering students, regarding pedagogical quality, in the context of online education; during the learning process of the process control course with Matlab. When developing the research, it was determined with respect to the answers capacity factor, that the indicators that present a better perception are "When presenting an observation about the development of the subject, the teacher responds to it appropriately" and "When you have any question or concern, the teacher answers your query quickly”, which have a total agreement of 82.4%. Regarding the Empathy factor, the indicator that presents a better perception is “The time in which the subject is taught is convenient for all students”, which presents a total compliance of 72.7%. Regarding the indicators that show the quality of the pedagogical service in general, it was determined that 75.7% perceive that teachers are always willing to help them and 81.8% perceives that teachers understand the specific academic needs of their students.

Abstract Purpose Multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) is a well-established imaging method for localizing primary prostate cancer (PCa) and for guiding targeted prostate biopsies. [18F]DCFPyL positron emission tomography combined with MRI (PSMA-PET/MRI) might be of additional value to localize primary PCa. The aim of this study was to assess the diagnostic performance of [18F]DCFPyL-PET/MRI vs. mpMRI in tumour localization based on histopathology after robot-assisted radical-prostatectomy (RARP), also assessing biopsy advice for potential image-guided prostate biopsies. Methods Thirty prospectively included patients with intermediate to high-risk PCa underwent [18F]DCFPyL-PET/MRI and mpMRI prior to RARP. Two nuclear medicine physicians and two radiologists assessed tumour localization on [18F]DCFPyL-PET/MRI and on mpMRI respectively, and gave a prostate biopsy advice (2 segments) using a 14-segment model of the prostate. The uro-pathologist evaluated the RARP specimen for clinically significant PCa (csPCa) using the same model. csPCa was defined as any PCa with Grade Group (GG) ≥ 2. The biopsy advice based on imaging was correlated with the final histology in the RARP specimen for a total-agreement analysis. An additional near-agreement correlation was performed to approximate clinical reality. Results Overall, 142 of 420 (33.8%) segments contained csPCa after pathologic examination. The segments recommended for targeted biopsy contained the highest GG PCa segment in 27/30 patients (90.0%) both for [18F]DCFPyL-PET/MRI and mpMRI. Areas under the receiver operating characteristics curves (AUC), sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV) for the total-agreement detection of csPCa per segment using [18F]DCFPyL-PET/MRI were 0.70, 50.0%, 89.9%, 71.7%, and 77.9%, respectively. These results were 0.75, 54.2%, 94.2%, 82.8%, and 80.1%, respectively, for mpMRI only. Conclusion Both [18F]DCFPyL-PET/MRI and mpMRI were only partly able to detect csPCa on a per-segment basis. An accurate detection (90.0%) of the highest GG lesion at patient-level was observed when comparing both [18F]DCFPyL-PET/MRI and mpMRI biopsy advice with the histopathology in the RARP specimen. So, despite the finding that [18F]DCFPyL-PET/MRI adequately detects csPCa, it does not outperform mpMRI.

3D-printed alternatives to standard flocked swabs were rapidly developed to provide a response to the unprecedented and sudden need for an exponentially growing amount of diagnostic tools to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. In light of the anticipated shortage, a hospital-based 3D-printing platform was implemented in our institution for the production of swabs for nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal sampling based on the freely available, open-source design provided to the community by University of South Florida’s Health Radiology and Northwell Health System teams as a replacement for locally used commercial swabs. Validation of our 3D-printed swabs was performed with a head-to-head diagnostic accuracy study of the 3D-printed “Northwell model” with the cobas PCR Media® swab sample kit. We observed an excellent concordance (total agreement 96.8%, Kappa 0.936) in results obtained with the 3D-printed and flocked swabs, indicating that the in-house 3D-printed swab could be used reliably in the context of a shortage of flocked swabs. To our knowledge, this is the first study to report on autonomous hospital-based production and clinical validation of 3D-printed swabs.

Local wave speed is a prognostic detector that allows the analysis of cardiovascular function. Objectives: This study compared wave speed ([Formula: see text] measurements at single-point and two-point techniques. Material and methods: [Formula: see text] were determined from the cepstral analysis of the blood flow velocities, which identified the arrivals times of reflected waves. The blood velocities waveforms were measured by using phase-contrast magnetic resonance (PCMR) for 20 subjects on young and old healthy subjects.  Local wave speed was estimated through the arrivals time of reflections waves ([Formula: see text] and the distance separating the measurement site to reflection area ([Formula: see text] or the distance separating the two measurement sites. Results: Our obtained results were in total agreement with reference values reported in the literature. Moreover, the detected results show that there is a high correlation ([Formula: see text]) between the two methods. Conclusion: The analysis of the wave speed variations with advancing age is also achieved out through different regression models.

Dentists are highly exposed and vulnerable during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, as physical proximity to patients is necessary for effective dental examination and treatment. The objective of this study was to describe the concerns, knowledge, and infection control practices of dentists in Mexico during the COVID-19 pandemic. In this cross-sectional study conducted from 22 May 2020 to 8 July 2020, an anonymous survey was distributed to dentists, which covered information regarding dentists’ sociodemographic and professional characteristics, clinical practices during the pandemic, and perceptions regarding the application of infection prevention and control guidance for dental settings during the COVID-19 pandemic. Out of 703 respondents, 73.1% (n = 514) were women and 53.6% (n = 377) were dentists with 1–10 years of experience. Regarding the statements issued by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the responses for 11 survey items had total agreement rates >90% (high frequency); seven and nine items had moderate and low frequency of total agreement, respectively. Most dentists in this study agreed with the WHO and CDC statements and were concerned regarding the possibility of infection, despite using the protective gear.
