Christ's Seer Office (CSO) has a hotchpotch of controversies encompassing it. Among these polemical trajectories that obtains in these controversies is the African’s prophetic office. This is certainly due to the close parallelism that CSO matches the prophetic office of Christ. In the South Sudanese context, some African communities view Christ as a magician, medicine practitioner, or a traditional healer. This misconception should not be taken lightly. It needs a deeper introspection from the African Christian theologians, as the concerned communities may abandon the church and revert to their ancestral shrines for worship. The Nuer in South Sudan has embraced prophet Ngundeng as their Christ just because of some similarities that exist between Christ’s Seer Office and Ngundeng. This article fully reconnoitered the two prophetic offices by comparing them by using the principle of Nexus mysteriorum and Analogia entis to enhance the Nuer understanding of Christ. In its findings, this article reveals Christ as a prophet; the whom all the Old Testament prophets prefigured in their speeches and actions. Moreover, the study concluded that Jesus is Nuer’s Ngundeng par excellence.

There exists a close parallelism between gas-filled nanobubble solutions and ultra-high dilutions. Both these solutions contain Brownian nano-sized bubbles. We have studied aggregation kinetics of O2 gas-filled Brownian nanobubbles and their nanoscale cluster structure in 0.1M NaCO3 with NanoSight Particle Tracking Ananlysis (NTA) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). A number of discrete peaks in a NTA size distribution of O2 nanobubbles in 0.1M NaCO3 eight days later after production are closely related to the existence of stable nanobubble clusters composed of 6-9nm nanobubbles that are inferred from the internal void size observed with TEM. Recent reports on 1HNMR of nanobubble water and its biological effects of wheat germination by Ohshita’s group may correlate with Demangeat`s NMR studies and germination experiments performed by many groups since the first publication by Lily Kolisco in 1923. Demangeat’s has recently published a review on the essential role of succussion that can cause nanobubble formation.

After the Second World War the ecclesiastical property was drastically reduced in Hungary. However, Vatican II gave an intense motivation and impulse to the spiritual-psychical revival for the communities and by this time, the preservation of the religious heritage got some statal, professional attention too. The restoration or reconstruction works were often linked with the acute interior transformations according to Vatican II. Although the Hungarian publication and interpretation of the reforms were relatively slow, still a few essential informative discussions were born. The Venice Charter (1964) also had a significant effect on the monument preservation methodology in this period. Analysing the theoretical approach of the Vatican II Constitution and Instruction a close parallelism can be identified with the architectural aspects of the Venice Charter: respect the old parts with the obviously distinguishable, new supplements, and create modern artworks with high artistic quality. The end of the paper cites some brief case studies to present the practical implementation of the directives.

In 1 Thess 1–3, five times Paul directly connects the success of the gospel/the faith of the Thessalonians with his εισοδος. This new observation along with an appreciation of the close parallelism between 1 Thess 1–3 and 2 Cor 1–7 in occasion, tone, style, and content (especially the demonstrations of the integrity of his apostolic ministry in 1 Thess 2.1–12 and 2 Cor 1–7) helps us discern in 1 Thess 2.1–12 Paul's comprehensive apologetic purpose rather than a mere paraenetic purpose.

In analogy to ω-logic, one defines M-logic for an arbitrary structure M (see [5],[6]). In M-logic only those structures are considered in which a special part, determined by a fixed unary predicate, is isomorphic to M. Let L be the similarity type of M and T its complete theory. We say that M-logic is κ-compact if it satisfies the compactness theorem for sets of < κ sentences. In this paper we introduce the related notion of compactness for expandability: a model M is κ-compactly expandable if for every extension T′ ⊇ T of cardinality < κ, if every finite subset of T′ can be satisfied in an expansion of M, then T′ can also be satisfied in an expansion of M. Moreover, M is compactly expandable if it is ∥M∥+-compactly expandable. It turns out that M-logic is κ-compact iff M is κ-compactly expandable.Whereas for first-order logic consistency and finite satisfiability are the same, consistency with T and finite satisfiability in M are, in general, no longer the same thing. We call the model Mκ-expandable if every consistent extension T′ ⊇ T of cardinality < κ can be satisfied in an expansion of M. We say that M is expandable if it is ∥M∥+-expandable. Here we study the relationship between saturation, expandability and compactness for expandability. There is a close parallelism between our results about compactly expandable models and some theorems of S. Shelah about expandable models, which are in fact expressed in terms of categoricity of PC-classes (see [7, Th. VI.5.3, VI.5.4 and VI.5.5]). Our results could be obtained directly from these theorems of Shelah if expandability and compactness for expandability were the same notion.

Some subtypes of phosphatidylinositide-specific phospholipase C (PLC) are activated via pertussis toxin-sensitive or -insensitive G proteins. However, a G protein-dependent PLC inhibitory pathway also may exist. The resultant picture is of dual regulation of PLC, showing a close parallelism with the dual regulation of adenylate cyclase.

Low apparent aldose reductase activity, as measured by NADPH oxidation, can be produced by the spontaneous autoxidation of monosaccharides. NADPH is oxidized to metabolically active NADP+ in a solution of autoxidizing DL-glyceraldehyde at rates of up to 15 X 10(-4) A340/min. The close parallelism between the effects of buffer salt type and concentration, monosaccharide structure and temperature activation on autoxidation and NADPH oxidation imply that autoxidation is a prerequisite for the NADPH oxidation, probably via the hydroperoxy radical. Nucleotide-binding proteins enhanced NADPH oxidation induced by DL-glyceraldehyde, up to 10.6-fold with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase. Glutathione reductase-catalysed NADPH oxidation in the presence of autoxidizing monosaccharide showed many characteristics of the aldose reductase reaction. Aldose reductase inhibitors acted as antioxidants in inhibiting this NADPH oxidation. These results indicate that low apparent aldose reductase activities may be due to artifacts of monosaccharide autoxidation, and could provide an explanation for the non-linear steady-state kinetics observed with DL-glyceraldehyde and aldose reductase.

Abstract. Serum levels of thyroxine, 3,5,3'-triiodothyronine (T3), 3,3',5'-triiodothyronine (rT3), 3,3'-diiodothyronine (3,3'-T2), 3',5'-diiodothyronine (3',5'-T2) and TSH were measured in two clinical situations which are both known to induce a low serum T3 high serum rT3 syndrome: 1) during the early course of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and after recovery, and 2) before and during one week's propranolol medication (20 mg 4 times a day). In 10 patients with AMI serum levels of the iodothyronines were unchanged on admission to hospital (in average 6.6 h after onset of symptoms). However, already 24 h after onset of symptoms serum T3 and 3,3'T2 were reduced whereas serum rT3 and 3',5'-T2 were increased. Serum T3 and 3,3'-T2 reached a nadir on day 4 and 3, respectively, whereas serum rT3 and 3',5'-T2 reached peak values 24 h after onset of symptoms. In eight healthy, euthyroid volunteers propranolol medication induced similar changes in iodothyronine concentration as AMI did. However, the alterations were more delayed. Serum T3 decreased slowly reaching statistically significantly reduced values on day 7. Serum rT3 and 3',5'-T2 were significantly enhanced from day 3 and 4, respectively. A close parallelism in alterations of serum T3 and 3,3'-T2 levels was observed. Our data suggest that T3 in the two situations studied is a major precursor for 3,3'-T2 probably as a consequence of reduced 5'-deiodinase activity. It seems possible that the mechanisms affecting the metabolism of the iodothyronines in AMI and during propranolol medication involved the same enzyme system. However, the late appearance of the alterations in serum iodothyronines levels during propranolol medication might indicate different modes of action.

ABSTRACT A radioimmunoassay for dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in plasma was developed using an antiserum raised against testosterone-3-oxime-bovine-serum-albumin. After extraction of 1 ml male plasma with diethylether, DHT was separated from testosterone (T) by thin-layer chromatography. A dextran-charcoal-suspension was used for the separation of bound and free ligand. The inter-assay variability was 10.4 % (C. V.) and the detection limit 1.77 ng/100 ml. The accuracy of the method as determined by mass recoveries and the specificity were shown to be satisfactory. Normal values were obtained in 45 young to middle-aged (22–61 years) and 37 old (68–93 years) men. The median and the 95 percentiles were 20.5–51.9–76.3 (ng/100 ml) and 19.5–50.9–101.5 (ng/100 ml) respectively. While DHT did not change in old age T fell by 20.6%. DHT and T showed a significant correlation: rS = 0.426, P < 0.01 (young men), rS = 0.752, P < 0.001 (old men). After 3 daily im injections of 5000 IU human chorionic gonadotrophin (HCG), DHT increased 1.50 times (range: 1.15–2.09, n = 12), T 1.86 times (range: 1.20–2.91, n = 12). After 4 daily administrations of 40 mg fluoxymesterone DHT fell to 29.6% of the control level (range: 16.0–48.2%, n = 12). Blood samples were obtained from a 24 year old man every 15 min for 24 h. A close parallelism was observed between the concentrations of DHT and T in the plasma.

There is a close parallelism between the theories of convergence of directed nets and of filters, in which ‘subnet’ corresponds, in general, to ‘refinement’. With the standard definitions, however (1), pages 65 et seq., this correspondence is not exact, as there is no coarsest net converging to x0 of which all other nets with the same limit are subnets. (Suppose, for example, that a net X = {xj,: j ∈ J} in R1 has both the sequence-net S = {n−1; n = 1, 2,…} and the singleton-net {0} as subnets. Then (with an obvious notation), there existsuch that j0 ≥ jn for all n, while jn ≥ j0 for all n ≥ n0 say. But, given any j ∈ J, there exists n with jn ≥ j: it follows that jn ∈ j for all n ≥ n0 (independent of j); thus X cannot converge to 0. Even if nets with a last member are excluded, a similar result can be obtained by considering the net Y = {yθ; Θ an ordinal less than ω1}, where yθ = 0 for all Θ. If X has both Y and S as subnets we can show that (with a similar notation) there exists Θ0 such that Θ ≥ Θ0 implies jθ ≥ all jn, but also n0 such that n ≥ n0 implies ; the rest is as before.) Moreover, the theory of convergence classes, (l), pages 73 et seq., contains a condition (Kelley's condition (c)) whose analogue need not be separately stated for filters. These differences can be removed by adopting a wider definition of subnet, a course which does not seem unnatural, inasmuch as the standard definition is already wider than the ‘obvious’ one, and our proposed definition is equivalent to the standard one in the special case of sequences.
