The pedagogy involved with preparing and delivering an analytically based course must contend with a number of important limitations or challenges. The challenges/limitations include needing a context for the use of the analytics being taught; others include where best to embed analytic courses in degree curriculum, determining content and delivery along with a number of additional limitations. A context can be created for these courses by establishing a base of usefulness of the course content and how it relates to other courses and to professional applications. However, one useful approach for a budgeting course is to put the analytics in a context of production and performance. These two significant elements of any problem-solving organization finance and budgeting process are significant features of teaching a course in budgeting. The article presented here is an illustration of a context-based approach along with features of pedagogy based in computational thinking which can be used to operationalize course elements while overcoming other salient limitations for analytic courses. The exemplar of a budgeting course is posed as an example.

This research aimed to investigate whether or not there was an effect of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model towards the improvement of students’ learning creativities. A total number of 40 students of 4th grade of Public Primary School Lengkong Karya, South Tangerang, Indonesia, participated in this study. This was a quantitative research with descriptive quantitative method. The hypothesis of the study stated that there was an influence of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model towards 4th grade students’ learning creativities improvement. The results of the research revealed that there was a significant influence of CTL towards students’ learning creativities in which in the significant level of 5%, there was a significant correlation between variable X and Y. Additionally, in the significant level of 1%, rtable was lower than rxy (0.376<0.468), hence, at this level, there was a significant correlation between variable X and Y. Based on the statistical test, it was concluded that learning model of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) had significant influence towards the learning creativities of 4th graders of Public Primary School Lengkong Karya. South Tangerang. Indonesia.

The current COVID-19 pandemic has created many challenges for teachers as they transition to teaching in virtual learning environments. Virtual learning environments have forced educators to adapt teaching strategies and become creative and innovative to maintain student engagement (Korkmaz & Toraman, 2020). Middle school social studies teachers have always dealt with a lack of student interest in learning history, and the current instructional setting is requiring a reimagined teacher craft to deliver high-quality instruction. The interaction between students and teachers often depends on the content, highly effective questioning, choice in response methods, technology tools, or learning platforms (Czerkawski & Lyman, 2016). A conceptual understanding of the types of engagement, including cognitive, affective, and behavioral (Buric & Franzel, 2020; Raes, Vanneste, Pieters, Windey, Van Den Noortgate & Depaepe, 2020; Van Uden, Ritzen & Pieters, 2013; Ding, Kim & Orey, 2017) will help inform the types of instructional strategies that will be most effective at increasing and maintaining student engagement. The purpose of this phenomenological study was to describe the experiences and problems associated with engaging students in virtual learning environments for middle school social studies teachers in a border school district with over 40,000 students. The overarching theme that emerged from the data collected was that teachers play a significant role in creating a learning environment that supports students, encourages participation through interactive technology, and nurtures relationships to promote student engagement. Findings suggest educators understand the challenges educators face to keep students engaged and motivated, and some of the best practices that can increase student engagement in virtual learning.

This study aims to assess the implementation of the Blended Learning Approach (BLA) at the Graduate School level at St. Paul University Philippines. The study utilized the mixed research approach. More specifically, the study utilized the quantitative approach particularly the descriptive causal-comparative research design as it assessed the implementation of the BLA and associated factors. The qualitative approach dealt with the responses of the participants regarding their views on the strengths of the BLA and the challenges they encountered in the implementation of the BLA. The study utilized the questionnaire method in gathering the data and covered the faculty and students as the study participants. The tools used for data analysis tools include the frequency and percentage counts, t-test, F-test, and thematic analysis. The results reveal that the participant’s assessment of the extent of implementation of the BLA along the four learning areas is “high”. Most specifically, they rated the aspect on Assessment and Evaluation as “very high”, Methods, Learning Resources, and Modality as “High”.

With the pandemic of COVID-19 came a time of significant business disruption, particularly in relation to social distancing rules that effectively shut down organisations physical office spaces, and moved employees to Work From Home (WFH) in a very short space of time. This research looks at the current office space that employees use and compares it to the WFH space. The results showed that employees valued their physical office space, but that open plan or shared offices were often noisy and lacked privacy. Most described their office space as personal, comfortable, and conducive to productivity. In relation to the ability to work collaboratively, most respondents stated this happened in their current office space (87%), and with the move to WFH, 76% stated that they were still able to work collaboratively. Employees will no longer need to commute to work, can spend more time perusing personal plans and feel more productive when WFH. For employers, they now have access to a wider pool of talent, can enjoy cost savings and decrease their carbon footprint. The office of the future will be a hybrid model, a combination of WFH, working in the office and both, known as the Hybrid Office Model (HOM).

Traditional assessments are typically constructed on logical taxonomies and content specifications but lack explicit cognitive models of the processes and problem-solving strategies that underlie student performance. Cognitive Diagnostic Assessment (CDA) fills this gap by combining cognitive science and psychometrics. CDA is in its infancy, but over 1,000 relevant studies have been conducted in this area during the last 20 years. Facing these complicated studies, many beginners struggle to understand the whole picture of CDA. This paper systematically reviews the literature on CDA and relevant cognitive diagnosis models (CDMs) with the application of a concept mapping technology. Concept mapping is graphical representation of concepts and their relationships. Its use in this study allows researchers and students to gain in-depth knowledge about CDA and CDM and identify areas of future research.

This study of self-regulation draws on Boerkaert’s (1999) model but proposes adaptations. In particular, it examines the role of the teacher in the promotion of self-regulation, and the importance of curriculum for creating opportunities for autonomous learning. Since Boerkaert’s model was devised for older learners, adaptations are proposed to reflect its possible meaning for younger learners, particularly through the supportive scaffolding of their learning and development toward self-regulation. The study uses an international sample survey of children’s responses to curricular experiences, as well as making comparisons between different educational systems and environments. The article concludes with suggestions for changes in practice to develop self-regulated learners from the early primary years.

The study examines types of feedback pedagogical counselors write in response to preservice teachers’ reflective writing in Teaching Journals during their practicum. The study also examines variables that can affect written feedback on reflective writing: year in the college, preservice teachers’ levels, changes in feedback over time and personal differences among counselors. 689 comments written by five counselors from 74 Teaching Journal entries were explored. The results showed eight feedback types, in which asking for clarifications and leading preservice teachers to infer from pupils’ responses, were the most frequent. Differences of feedback types written to student teachers was affected by year in the college, by levels of the student teachers and by the context of the practicum. The discussion will focus on the eight feedback types and the linguistic aspect of the feedback.

This work aims at exploring the YouTube platform as a social network and useful space for English language learning in the Brazilian context. We believe that YouTube is a potential platform to enhance autonomy, but we are aware that there is a specific kind of student who could benefit from using this tool. For the theoretical basis of this research, we are based on Recuero (2009) to discuss the meaning of social network. We will explore some YouTubers who use the platform to teach the English language.
