As the author of the article claims, the metatheatricality in Eugene Vodolazkin’s drama The Parodist is constituted by the multiplication of levels of presented reality and its specific modelling, exposing the “derivativness” and “fictionality”.The multi-layered reality is generated by various, usually perfidious, realizations of the concept of “theatre in theatre” (e.g. thanks to outright and allusive intertextuality, implicitly inscribed in the text of the drama); appearance of specific structural and compositional elements and the simultaneity resembling a film technique of parallel editing; breaking down the stage illusion and maximising the theatrum mundi concept; a play generated within a dramatic plot by the heroes themselves; and metaparody of artistic issues in the dramatic dialogue.

The customary division of functions and social roles of men and women adopted in the past was reflected in the process of shaping the Polish anthroponymic system. The phenomenon of differentiation of nomenclature based on gender was directly related to the privileged position and exclusive participation of men in the organization of social life. In anthroponymy, the domination of masculinity is marked by the functional expansion of male forms as primary and basic. Male nomenclature was higher listed in the hierarchy of importance, female forms of surnames were always created from male forms. The surnames of married women were ending with the suffixes -owa, -ina, -ska or -a, e.g. Chodkiewiczowa, Niemierzyna, Popławska, Ladna. The surnames of unmarried women were created using the suffixes -ówna (ending in a consonant from scratch), e.g. Chodkiewiczówna (< Chodkiewicz), -anka (ending in a vowel from scratch), e.g. Niemierzanka (< Niemiera), and in adjective types like married surnames, for example, Popławska, Ładna. The subject of attention in this study is the phenomenon of masculinization of female surname forms during the Russian partition (second half of the 19th century) in the Podlasie region. The problem is presented in the context of the historical development of women’s nomenclature in Podlasie and general information on the state of female nomination in Poland in modern times.

Linguistic comedy is a special case of the implementation of a language game. The aim of the paper is to identify the most frequent, periodic realized linguistic ways of creating a comic effect in V. Vishnevskii’s one-line poems. The study is based on such methods as: the descriptive method, the dictionary definition analysis method and the component analysis method. The results of the research reveal that among the ways of creating the discussed effect used in V. Vishnevskii’s one-line-poems, the following are distinguished: polysemy, antonymy, metonymy, violation of lexical connectivity of words, the author’s neologisms, ellipse, transformation of precedent texts, verbal-graphic representation, and combination of lexical units referring to various aspects of their use, characterized by different functional and expressive connotations.

The subject of this article are the linguistic exponents of the semantic field of blue, the analysis of which provides valuable information about the models of perception, association and interpretation of the world presented in the works of Alexander Grin. The novels Scarlet Sails, She Who Runs on the Waves, The Road to Nowhere, The Golden Chain and The Treasure of the African Mountains form the material basis of the research conducted. In the analyzed novels of Alexander Grin the semantic field of blue is represented by both basic names used to describe this color – синий (54 uses) and голубой (47 uses). The writer uses the blue colour most often in a conventional way and uses it to create the world presented. Blue is primarily associated with semantic fields such as “human” (33 uses), “artifacts” (26 uses), “water” (13 uses), and “air and weather phenomena” (10 uses). The excerpted material shows that it is relatively rare for the colour blue to characterize objects associated with light phenomena (5 uses), landforms (4 uses), flora (3 uses), fauna (3 uses), sky and stars (3 uses) and food (1 use).

In modern Russian, word blends can be found in fiction, journalism, advertising, as well as in scientific terminology and in everyday language. This study presents the press titles of the daily “Коммерсанть” (from 2020 and 40 issues from 2021; online version) in which lexical blends were used. Structural analysis shows that the dominant role in their construction is played by haplologic blends and blends based on tmesis (“matryoshka” words and quasi-tmesis words). An interesting procedure is the simultaneous transformation of precedent texts (substitution) and the use of word blends. Noun derivatives are most frequently represented in the entire illustrative material. Next to them we also find adjective, verb and adverb blends.

The paper is an attempt to determine the features of an ironical metalinguistic (reflexive) expressions that could be used as a criteria for these expressions typology and to present the draft of such typology. Relevant features of units studied here are provided by results of semantic, pragmatic and discourse analysis of some examples. It is shown that basic criteria include the identity of reflexive comment sender, the relations between communicative agents and the type of contradiction between the metalinguistic expression and the context (generally the utterance commented by an ironist).

This article is an attempt at a theolinguistic description of such concepts as manipulation, persuasia, and religious language. The author focuses primarily on the theoretical aspect of the stated problem. In the first part of the work, such concepts as manipulation, persuasia and speech influence are analyzed. Their hierarchy is being organized and it is concluded that persuasia and manipulation, when considered in “pure form” is the polar form of speech influence, different in means of achieving the goal: if persuasia is an open speech influence, suggesting a deliberate choice by the recipient, speech influence with the sign “+”, then the manipulation is speech influence, often using hidden mechanisms with the aim of achieving a result, do not necessarily coincident with the interests of the recipient, speech influence with the sign “–”. The second part of the work describes the religious language and its functions. Special attention is paid to the instrumental function – the function of using langu age as a means to achieve certain goals. Attention is drawn to the fact that the use of the form and content of religious language not only opens the way for various kinds of manipulations with language and with the help of language, but also for persuasia: the transfer of relevant knowledge, the formation of beliefs, ideas about true values.

In the presented sketch, the author indicates the problem of changing the approach to the role of theater in human life in three works by Nikolai Yevreinov: A Beautiful Despot, What is Most Important and The Theater of Eternal War. The author initially perceives theater as an attempt to build an artificial reality for his own convenience and whim, so it is an escape from reality. In subsequent plays, his image changes – at first it becomes a beautiful fairy tale, an attempt at therapy and making people happy using theatrical methods. In the final part of the Double Theater trilogy, it becomes a method of revealing the true face. However, as the author points out, this is not the only way to understand the role of theater – it can also be just theater – another artificial reality.

In recent decades, in the post-Soviet area, an interest of linguists in religious subjects has been increasing. Linguists undertake a large-scale research on the religious image of the world. Studying the Bible gains in importance, and the attention of many researchers focuses on the multi-facited description of phraseological units of the biblical origin. In contemporary Russian linguistic analyzes, there are two approaches to the study of phraseological expressions of biblical provenance: in accordance with the Russian or western research traditions. Representatives of both fields of study refer in their works to the achievements of Russian or foreign scientists. The resulting studies are typologically diversified. Among them you can find literary, philosophical and linguistic works, articles of historical and cultural character, descriptive and comparative works (created on the basis of material from several languages), experimental dictionary publications and other types of scientific texts. The present article is a presentation of the most important, in my opinion, works on the religious image of the world.
