This study is aimed at investigating targib and tarhib method in terms of : planning, implementation, supporting and inhibiting factors for the implementation, evaluation and success rate of application. This research applied qualitative method using descriptive analytic. The data were collected using observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were analysed by selecting, sorting data obtained, analysing and drawing conclusions. The findings show that the planning was designed in terms of learning strategies, techniques and tactics in the document of lesson plan. The implementation was in accordance with the planning written in the learning steps in the document of lesson plan. The supporting factors included innovative and competent teachers in their fields, full support from the principal, support from the teacher council and school staff, and the availability of facilities and infrastructure. The inhibiting factors covered the differences in the students’ background and the location of the classrooms which is next to public roads and residents' houses. The evaluation was done by observing students’ attitudes and administering the oral tests in learning. The success rate of implementation can be seen from the increase in the students’ awareness to behave ahlak karimah in everyday life.

This study was aimed at investigating research and development (R&D) model applied to Akidah-Akhlak subject teachers in strengthening their students’ character in madrasah in South Jakarta. This research applied R&D using ADDIE version which consisted of: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research subjects were selected purposively involving 30 teachers.  The results of the study show that the training model for the teachers was carried out with an emphasis on empowering the teachers’ professionalism. The development program was implemented through training and mentoring based on the modules. The results of the module-based teacher professional development can build the students’ character. The syntax for the training program started from preliminary studies, model descriptions compilation, model development, and professional teacher outcomes (compiling lesson plan, carrying out learning activities, conducting classroom action research). The implementation of the module-based teacher professional development had a significant impact on increasing the teachers’ pedagogic competence. They demonstrated a teaching vision that emphasized the importance of teaching the subject to their students. Teaching and learning activity which is based on the teachers’ professionalism can build students’ positive character in madrasah in South Jakarta.

The understanding on Quran requires an approach that is oriented toward inclusiveness. Many Quran interpretation scholars who understand the Quran in a way that leads to antagonistic attitudes and acts of violence. There is a need to propose alternative Quran Interpretation Learning using an integrative approach. This paper aims to investigate the design of an integrated emancipatory Quran interpretation learning at Master Program for Arabic Language Education (PSPBA) of UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung. This research is qualitative using descriptive methods. It applied observation, interviews, and documentation to collect the data. Using scientific integrative approach, this study found that emancipatory Quran learning interpretation was designed into three levels: objectives, process and learning material.

In the digital era, learning activity requires several competencies including several applications to use digital media like digital Quran. This research is aimed at analyzing the strategies to increase religious substance in Islamic religious education courses for students Majoring in PAI (Pendidikan Agama Islam/Islamic Religious Education), Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, through the Digital Quran. This study applied a survey approach involving 104 students in their third semester. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results showed that the thematic learning of the digital Quran, which was carried out simultaneously, could increase students’ religious substance with Fcount 22.477 > Ftable 3.09, significance value 0.05, and probability 0.000

Technology use in education is important to transfer knowledge and solve problems especially during the pandemic situation. Unfortunately, the development of technology has not brought the positive assurance for religious moderation discourse amongst Muslims in Indonesia. One of the risks facing students during independent online learning is that they are exposed to vulnerable and extreme radical teachings. The present study investigated the school’s strategies to safeguard religious moderation policy during online learning. It applied qualitative method using case study. The findings show the application of religious moderation strategies have brought positive impact on educational quality. The strategies required cooperation among several parties including teachers, students, parents. Their strategic partnership is pivotal element to increase educational quality

This study investigates students’ critical thinking skills in the subject of Islamic Cultural History, built within reflective teaching. It applied qualitative method using descriptive analytic. The study involved students from Class-XI aged 16-17 years old in MAN 1 and MAN 2 in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. The data were collected using observation and documentation for the contemplative teaching and learning process. The data then were analysed using Miles and Hubermen covering data reduction, presentation, and conclusion. The results show that the reflective class supported the students’ learning development and their critical thinking. The students prepared well for learning, engaged in the learning activities, contributed to the discussion, and enthusiastically compiled personal journals. When it comes to their critical thinking development, the students showed their progressive capacities in building their ideas, evaluating theirs and others’ arguments and working together to solve problems.

Islamic Studies is a relatively new, yet growing phenomenon in Australian universities. With an increased focus on Islam and Muslim in the age of War on Terror and with Australian Muslim population fast increasing, Islamic Studies is an important intellectual tool to better understand, Islam and Muslims and many challenges facing them. This paper is an investigation of the recent trends and developments in Islamic Studies as an academic discipline in Australian universities. This is an important intellectual task because Islamic Studies continues to play a significant role in Australian academia. The data were collected from literature review and are analysed descriptively. The findings of the study show that the intellectual tools developed in Islamic Studies can be deployed to build relationship between fragmented Muslim communities and between Muslims and non-Muslims particularly in multicultural Australia. Islamic Studies draws on a variety of fields making it a crossdiscipline. As such, it offer a rich and analytic investigation of world’s second largest religion and its multiple expressions. Australian universities offer Islamic studies ranging from undergraduate to postgraduate program. The topic studied include Islamic philosophy, jurisprudence, education, history, and Arabic.

This study aims to examine the influence of learning motivation and intellectual intelligence on students’ learning achievement in PAI (Pendidikan Agama Islam/ Islamic Religious Education). This study applied a quantitative approach using survey technique. The population of this study was students of class VIII MTs (Madrasah Tsanawaiyah/ Islamic Junior High School) Muhammadiyah Gemolong and the sample was determined randomly. The data were analysed using descriptive statistical methods, validity tests, reliability tests, and multiple regression analysis. The results show that there was a significant effect of both intellectual intelligence and learning motivation on student’ learning achievement in PAI with F Fcount 10.013 > Ftable 0.000; significance value 2 and 2.66 with α = 0.05 dan 0.01.

This research aims to describe the design of thematic-integrative learning model, its implementation in the learning process, the influence of the model on enhancing students' 4C's skill (Communication, Cooperative, Critical thinking, Creativity), and the analysis of the supporting hindering factors that may affect the implementation of the learning model. The research utilized a qualitative approach with a descriptive analytics method. This study collected its data through an interview, observation, and documentation. The result reveals that thematic-integrative learning can increase students' ability in the era of 4.0. The outcome is demonstrated by students' competency in formulating a project and its report. Thus, it is shown that students' capability in using technology, collaboration, written and spoken communication, self-management, critical and creative thinking, and problem-solving can be sharpened. Moreover, the supporting factors found in this research are a competent teacher, learning curriculum, active students, school facilities and expenses. On the other hand, the factors that may hinder the implementation are the disparity of the teachers' proficiency, the integration of curriculum, which is often inaccurate, students' unique character and capability, facilities that are not yet optimal, and an extensive cost for projects and performances.

This article aims to examine the influence of religiosity and spirituality on the students’ psychological well-being during the Covid-19 pandemic. The method used is a relational survey method. The participants of this research were 627 students who studied in universities located in Bandung and Cimahi. The universities included State Islamic University of Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung, the Indonesian Education University, Jenderal Ahmad Yani University, and the Siliwangi Institute of Teacher Training and Education. The data were collected using a questionnaire instrument consisting of a questionnaire of religiosity, spirituality, and psychological well-being. The results showed that both religiosity and spirituality had an effect on psychological well-being. It is shown that religiosity had a higher effect than spirituality on students' psychological well-being during the Covid-19 pandemic.
