This paper is based on the data used for the completion of Doctor of Business Leadership degree submitted at University of South Africa. The purpose of this paper is to identify how demographic information and factors derived from factor analysis affect employee satisfaction in the Market and Social Research Industries in Gauteng Province, South Africa. The data were collected face-to-face from ordinary employees using a quantitative questionnaire. An overall Cronbach alpha of 0.982 showed that the questionnaire used in the study was statistical reliable. Path analysis is used in this paper. It helps to understand the effect of indirect effects on employee satisfaction within the Market and Social Research industries in Gauteng. Further, the path analysis showed that overall leadership style of the leader affects employee satisfaction directly while overall leadership style was strongly driven by leaders motivator attributes. On the other hand, de-motivator leadership attributes tend to negatively affect overall leadership style of the leader. Day-to-day working conditions and co-worker attributes (all derived from employee/job related attributes) directly drove overall employee satisfaction of the respondents.

The study examined the roles and causes of leadership crisis and management strategies adopted in the attempt to resolve conflicts involving students, lecturers, and non-academic staff versus vice-chancellors in Nigeria higher institutions with particular reference to Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. Two basic methods of primary are adopted here, viz, questionnaire and personal interview. The questionnaire was essentially utilized to assess the leadership role of vice-chancellor in conflict management. This becomes useful when one considers the fact management of conflict resolution is always focussed around the person and office of the incumbent vice-chancellor in most universities. The interview method allows for face-to-face analysis of events thereby making it possible for clarification on controversial issues. In this way, one is opportune to ask further questions germane and relevant to this study. Data derived from the secondary sources include data already provided by original investigators. In this study, the secondary data sources include books on university administration, conflict and conflict management, governance, and other relevant books and journals. Others are published and unpublished articles, official documents, dissertations, magazines, and publications. Two former vice-chancellors were examined as regards the problem of perennial crisis in Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. Respondents were asked to rate the two former vice-chancellors using their organizational competence, leadership style and positive relation with staff and students as rating criteria. The questionnaires were analyzed using descriptive analysis such as scores and percentage. The study discovered evidences of mismanagement of conflict which made most conflicts in the universities violent. It observed that most conflicts in Nigerian universities might have been averted if the leadership in Nigerian universities could be more democratic, sensitive, and flexible in conflict periods. The study concluded that the welfare of staff and students should be given more attention if perennial conflicts with school authority are to be overcome in Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria.

Factors such as vision, articulation, rational intelligence, emotional intelligence, and spiritual intelligence impact leadership effectiveness. Does the effectiveness depend on the work context and the followers demographics? If it does depend on the context and demographics then the singularity of the construct becomes debatable. So it becomes all the more important for persons in the leadership role to understand the subtleties. In this research employees of two different sectors (IT and non-IT) participated to indicate their perception about leadership effectiveness (LE). In the first phase of the research dimensions of LE were identified through Lens model and subsequently administered to equal number of respondents from IT and non-IT sectors. The data was analyzed for commonality, differences and relationships. The results indicate that non-IT employees perceive a greater degree of leader vision and articulation scores compared with IT employees. Age of the employee is found to be negatively related to vision, articulation, and emotional intelligence dimensions of LE. Employees education is significantly related to vision only in the group of IT participants. It is unrelated to other variables. Finally, work experience and organizational experience of participants are found to be unrelated to psychological variables. The findings indicate a greater reporting of articulation in case of non-IT leader. Mismatch between the age of the followers and age of the leaders is likely to be a root cause of the negative relationship between age and vision as revealed in the findings of the present investigation. The relationship between the followers age and leaders articulation is found to be negative. Age is also found to be inversely related to employees perception of leaders emotional intelligence. The sector profile perhaps explains why the non-IT participants have not reported any association of significance between education and vision in the present investigation. The present investigation has the unique feature of deriving the pertinent dimensions instead of imposing a-priori dimensions.

Organizations are social systems where human resources are the most important factors for effectiveness and efficiency. Organizations need effective managers and employees to achieve their objectives. Leadership is a process by which a person influences others to accomplish an objective and plays a crucial role in many professions, such as banking, education, healthcare, insurance service jobs. Infact, leadership styles are one of the important factors that have the prospective to improve the employee satisfaction and performance. The purpose of this research paper is to examine the relationship between leadership styles and job satisfaction among of 842 subordinates and 421 their respective supervisors. Structural Equation Modeling is used to test the hypothesised relationship. The results revealed that transformational style and democratic style have a positive impact on job satisfaction but transactional style and laissez faire style have a negative impact on job satisfaction. To enhance skills of the employees, the study suggested that firms who want to adopt the job satisfaction must resource their initiatives and increase the capabilities that should be given serious attention by organization aiming to be world class.

The present paper attempts to understand the role of gender congenial workplaces, as well as the role of gender of the agent and the target, in the perceived use of downward influence tactics. The researcher selected 40 organizations assumed to be gender congenial to females, and 40 organizations assumed to be gender congenial to males. Five employees reporting to a single leader, served as sample respondents from each organization, making a total of 400 employee respondents for the study. The sample respondents were administered a questionnaire, comprising of demographic details, and a measure of downward influence tactics. Findings reveal significant differences in the perceived use of downward influence tactics between male- and female-congenial workplaces. Male and female employees significantly differ in their leaders perceived use of influence tactics. Also, male and female leaders are seen as differing significantly in their use of downward influence tactics.

This paper is based on the study a Doctor of Business Leadership (DBL) thesis titled A Statistical Model for Employee Satisfaction in the Market and Social Research Industries in Gauteng Province. The purpose of this study was to identify the attributes that affect employee satisfaction in the Market and Social Research Industries in Gauteng Province, South Africa. In order to address the overall objective of this study, the researcher used a two-tiered (mixed) approach in which both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies were used to complement and enrich the results. This paper is only based on the qualitative component of the study on leadership aspects based on six leaders (two from Social research and four from Market research) that were interviewed. The leaders were selected based on their knowledge of the industry and the expertise they have. Participation in the survey was voluntary. This paper illustrates the power of the qualitative techniques to uncover or unmask the leadership aspects in the Market and Social Research Industries and also gives the human touch to the quantitative results. It was found that leadership and management within the Market and Social Research Industries in Gauteng Province must ensure that they are accommodative in terms of mentoring their subordinates. The industry is driven by quality driven processes and strong leadership. More importantly, issues of a good working environment, remuneration, career growth, and recognition must always be addressed in order to increase employee satisfaction, reduce staff turnover, and attempt to optimize labour productivity. The qualitative findings also help a deeper understanding of leadership within the industry.

Crucibles of Leadership is a Western leadership concept. A crucible refers to a transformative experience through which an individual comes to a new or an altered sense of identity. Warren Bennis used the term crucible for the first time in the context of leadership. The key message is that the essence of leadership is learning and the most valuable learning comes from crucible experiences or more precisely transformational experiences. There are different types of crucible experiences- Mentoring, New Territory, Suspension, and Reversal. Rishi as Re-see Model of Leadership is an Indian leadership model. Wise and successful leaders learn from a crucible experience (LFC). This leads to a mindset change in them. The leaders undergo transformation because they re-see the crucible experience, adopt a personal learning strategy, are resilient, and have an adaptive capacity. This in turn makes them a Corporate Rishi. In short, the paper tries to link the Western leadership concept of crucibles with the Indian Re-see Model, thereby, explaining the making of a Corporate Rishi.

This study highlights the role of satisfaction for building e-marketing leadership and empirically explores the differences in the customer satisfaction of online buyers. The study tries to discern how segmenting the customer based on marital status may help the online marketers for effective leadership and competitive advantage in the modern globalized market. An online survey instrument was administered to a sample of 200 online buyers from a northern city of India. The respondents were contacted both personally as well as through the emails, social media like Facebook, Whatsapp etc. The instrument comprised items related to online satisfaction along with few variables of demographic variables. The study employed purposive sampling which is appropriate for exploratory type of studies. The findings indicate that online shoppers are moderately satisfied from e-retailers. It is suggested that e-retailers must address issues of customers vibrantly so that customers become highly satisfied which ultimately leads to e-marketing leadership.

The purpose of this study was to identify the attributes that affect employee satisfaction in the Market and Social Research Industries in Gauteng Province, South Africa. In order to address the overall objective of this study, the researchers used a two-tiered (mixed) approach in which both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies were used to complement and enrich the results. Stratified random sampling and systematic random sampling were used to select a sample of 261 full-time employees for the quantitative phase of the study. The Multi-factor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) was adapted to collect the data using a face-to-face data collection method. The study found that a statistically significant association exists between employee satisfaction and leadership style within the Market and Social Research Industries in Gauteng Province. As expected, leadership and management within the Market and Social Research Industries in Gauteng Province should ensure that they are accommodative to their subordinates. More importantly, issues of a good working environment, remuneration, career growth and recognition should be addressed in order to increase employee satisfaction, reduce staff turnover and attempt to optimize labour productivity.
