Mawlānā Sami’-ul-Ḥaq (Shahīd) was a renowned Islamic Scholar, journalist, writer, politician, mujahid, and at the same time he was a wonderful leader and thinker on world affairs. In addition to teaching at the Dārul ‘Ulūm Ḥaqqāniyah Akora Khattak for almost sixty (60) years, he remained in active politics for forty-eight (48) years. He remained so close to the Afghans Jihād that in the Western world he was known as the "Father of the Taliban" and his madrassa as the "University of Jihad." Because of this fame, his academic, social, political, and community services were hidden from view. Due to his commitment to Afghan jihad and being the head of various religious and political movements, he has been the subject of debate in many circles. Questions have been raised about his academic credentials, commitment to the Afghan jihad, success rate in various religious and political movements, and the actual narrative of those movements. In addition to interviewing teachers at Dārul ‘Ulūm Ḥaqqāniyah and the people close to him, his personal writings, books, and articles about him have been used to find answers to all these questions. The study concludes that he was a reformer who played his role very well in different aspects of life.

Zakat is one of the main pillars of Islam. On one hand, it purifies the income of the wealthy people, on the other hand, it helps the needy people hence the social value of Islam and brotherhood is promoted. The niṣāb of few things are very clear as mentioned in aḥādīth in quit unambiguous manner just like nisāb of gold, silver, and livestock, etc. However in a situation when a person’s wealth is a mixture of a different kind of Amwāl-e-zakat and none of them reach to the limit of nisāb, especially in the case of gold, silver, and modern-day paper currency,  in this case, whether gold, silver or paper shall be combined for the obligation of zakat or not? Imam Malik, Imam Abū Yūsuf and Imam Muhammad are of the view that the merger shall be based on its quantity/parts((ضم بالاجزاء. On the other hand, according to Imam Abū Ḥanifa, the merger shall be based on the price of gold and silver and the person should be considered nisāb holder if the price of the combined assets reaches the price of nisāb of silver. The above principle shall also be applied for Uzḥiyyah as well. Currently, due to the huge difference in the price of silver and gold, if we take the merger of different assets based on price, people who are not even secure from financial worries become nisāb holder and they have to pay zakat as well as Uzḥiyyah. In this paper, Zakat and its conditions are briefly defined, the issue of the combination of various niṣābs is elaborated, and the modern-day problems in light of the impact of the price of silver on the combination of niṣābs are discussed along with the recommendations.

The Islamic Shari’ah has ensured and guaranteed protection and security of life, wealth, and honor through the imposition of different laws and injunctions. Alongside this, it permitted the jurists of the Ummah to frame and promulgate laws for their security under the Quran & Sunnah, which are the primary sources of Shari’ah. The Muslim scholars authored jurisprudence books keeping in view the need for the time in every era and thus a vast compilation of Islamic literature came into existence. The Ottoman Caliphate enjoys a particular background and characteristics among different Muslim empires. The said Caliphate not only had very extensive geographical boundaries but also had links with the contemporary governments. This Caliphate, following Fiqh Ḥanafī, had formed Majallah al Aḥkām al ‘Adaliyah for the country’s economic system. The clauses of Majallah were based on deep-rooted thoughts and, therefore, caused a great impact on the succeeding assets and heritage of jurisprudence. In this article, after mentioning the introduction of Majallah Al-Aḥkām Al-‘Adliyah and its methodology, a comparative and applied review of the selected provisions of "Kitāb Al-Wakālah" with "Contract Act 1872" is discussed and finally, the conclusions drawn from this research, along with few recommendations, are mentioned.

The prohibition of Interest (Riba), which is a major element of the current financial system, is stated in the Qur'an and Hadith with certainty and clarity. The unavailability of credit facility at the individual level forces any person or entity to turn to financial institutions, where loans are provided on an interest basis. What is the ruling on taking an interest-bearing loan in such a situation? Can interest be borrowed based on necessity? Due to the importance of the issue, various jurisprudential academies have offered their views on it. No comprehensive review can be found in the available literature on necessity and interest in the views of jurisprudential academics on the application of the principle of necessity in the payment of interest-based loans. This article seeks to fill this gap. In this article, after a brief explanation of the concepts of necessity and interest, the views of jurisprudential academies on interest-based loans on need basis has been recorded. Furthermore, the article critically examines how these academies have applied the principle of necessity to need basis interest loans.
