The emerging interest in using literature to teach English has not yet highlighted the significance of Islamic literature within Indonesian educational context. This article presents the portrayal of Islamic literature in English language teaching (ELT) study area and offers a possible conceptual model of integrating Islamic literature into ELT. Following a library research method, with the corpus consisting of fourteen stories and one poem derived from fifteen books, the findings of this study show that: most works of Islamic literature are designed for fluent readers; the presentation of Islamic literature is dominated by Middle East and Western writers; and the Western writers are not always sensitive to the symbols glorified by Muslim English learners in Indonesia. As to deal with the above findings, this study proposes a conceptual model consisting of input, process, and output elements. Not only does the proposed model strengthen the position of Islamic literature, but it also integrates the Islamic literature into English language teaching so that it could reach both fluent readers and beginning readers. The output of the proposed model, abridged and unabridged texts of the Islamic literature, can be utilized to teach vocabulary, grammar, the four basic skills of language, and Islamic values.

The Qur’ān (2:258) mentions a prophet-like figure who was variously interpreted by Islamic exegetical tradition and by Western studies. Some of these interpretations in Islamic literature identify him as Jeremiah and the events alluded to in the Qur’ān as taking place around the city of Jerusalem. Islamic post-Qur’ān literature has elaborated on this, including Jeremiah in the historical prophetical line and depicting him as a prophet who was unsuccessful and had to escape his town before its destruction, brought about by Nebuchadnezzar. Islamic literature added details and narratives to these stories and also in some cases connected Jeremiah to Arab genealogy and lore. Echoes of the biblical book of Jeremiah are also attested to, albeit not in relation to the description of his life and mission given in the Islamic exegetical sources.

This study aims to look at the fusion of Islamic sources applied by Sayyid Sayyid cAbd al-Raziq as his main work in developing a unique and distinctive Islamic literary philosophy. On the one side, it is his effort and reflection on the refinement of the philosophical framework of Islamic literature that is considered to be entirely non-Islamic and largely dependent on Western ideas. As a result there are significant contradictions in Islamic values and this has prompted al-Raziq to produce a work that refines these issues. This study applied qualitative methods in the design of content analysis by analyzing the primary source, Manhaj al-Islami fi al-Naqd al-Adabi. The findings of the study have found that al-Raziq has optimally used Islamic sources as his primary vehicle in producing a philosophy of literary criticism that is truly Islamic. This is reflected in his efforts through the fusion of Islamic sources including the Qur'an, Hadith and also ethical interpretations in the scope of his philosophical debates including al-Turath al-Islami, al-Turath al-Jahili and al-Turath al-Madi.

Since the concept of Islamic Literature was introduced at the Kalenho Meeting in India in 1981 and the Islamic Literature Dialogue Conference at the Islamic University of Medina in 1982, it has sparked opposition and questioning, even among university staff and some colleagues. Faculty members at the aforementioned university were taken aback by the term and saw it as an alternative to Arabic Literature or as an aggression against it. Islamic Literature; It is neither Linguistic Literature, National Literature, Folk Literature, nor is it purely Islamic like the Qur'an, revelation, hijra or others, nor is it an ideological literature considering that ideology is a complete positive system, nor is it the literature of a certain time, a certain sect. All of these qualities fall under the term Islamic Literature.

Ethical English instruction has paved the way for every religion to make its interpretation. From the Islam religion perspective, such interpretation is still under research. This study describes how ethical English instruction takes place in an Indonesian Islamic higher education institution; how literature, particularly Islamic literature, becomes a factor of ethical English instruction; and the students' transformation through ethical English instruction. Applying a content analysis method, this case study involved 60 freshmen students of the English language education program of State Islamic Institute of Metro, Lampung, Indonesia. The research data was drawn from five main data sources, namely interviews, classroom observations, teaching materials, samples of students' works, and questionnaires. This study shows that (1) the use of Islamic literature to teach ethical English in the Indonesian Islamic higher education is potential; (2) text exploitability becomes a dominant factor in ethical English instruction; and (3) a contextualized approach, derived from the existing global approach and local teaching method, transforms the students positively.  It is concluded that ethical English teaching within Indonesian Islamic higher education ought to utilize Islamic literature and be conducted through a contextualized approach.

This article was presented at a roundtable devoted to a discussion of the Qalandar-nāme. The author, basing himself on the 9 chapters of the monumental Qalandar-nāme published to date with commentary, tries to compare this work with what else is known about Islamic civilization in the Golden Horde in this period. In particular, he examines the account of Ibn Baṭṭūṭa and compares the Persian-language Qalandar-nāme with the Turkic works on the history of the prophets (Qısas ül-änbiya), a Sufi manual (Mucin ül-mürid), two romantic poems (Qutb’s Xusrev u Şirin and Khorezmi’s Muhabbätname), and a handbook of Islam (Nähc ül-färadis). The author finds similarities between the works of Sufi literature and the Qalandar-nāme. He concludes by posing a series of questions for future researchers, including whether this work can also be seen as a response to the Black Death, similar to the Nähc ül-färadis, as the author has argued elsewhere.

In the 9th century of hijri., a big scholar in the field of Hadith, Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani has described the guidance of the Shariat in dealing with an pandemic which was packaged in his book "Badzlul Mâ'un fî Fadhli ath-Thâ'un ". This book should be noted through the comparison of the pandemic study between the arguments of the imam with the views of modern scholars, in order to weigh the weight of their respective views. With this comparison, a scientific method of hazanah Islam can be seen in looking at a problematic community that has repeatedly occurred, such as the pandemic COVID-19, as well as connecting the scientific chain and Islamic literature passed down from the Prophet to the next generation, as it is known that the scientific chain known as 'sanad' is part of religion. This research reveals 3 main topics related to pandemic management guidance, namely the validity of syahid status for the dead, the origin of quarantine, and guidance during and after the pandemic.
