Abstract Introduction and hypothesis The Prolapse and Incontinence Knowledge Questionnaire (PIKQ) was developed and validated to assess women’s knowledge regarding etiology, diagnosis and treatment of pelvic organ prolapse (POP) and urinary incontinence (UI). We aimed to translate and validate a Thai version of the PIKQ to use as a tool to evaluate knowledge of POP and UI among Thai-speaking women. Methods The English PIKQ, which comprises the PIKQ-POP and PIKQ-UI sections, was translated into Thai. Psychometric properties of the final version of the Thai PIKQ were tested for content validity, construct validity, internal consistency and test-retest reliability among 168 women attending a gynecology clinic and 150 nurses. Results Regarding content validity of the final Thai PIKQ, the number of missing items was 0. Participants in the nurse group were more likely than those in the patient group to select the correct answer for all items for the POP scale and UI scale (P < 0.001). For internal consistency testing, Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was 0.745 for the PIKQ-POP and 0.754 for the PIKQ-UI scales, suggesting that the items had relatively high internal consistency. The item-total correlation values ranged from 0.204 to 0.539, showing an adequate correlation of each item with the scale overall. The correlation coefficients between the test and retest for PIKQ-POP and PIKQ-UI were 0.685 and 0.735, respectively (P < 0.001). Conclusions The Thai PIKQ is a simple instrument which shows good validity and high reliability and could be a useful tool for assessing knowledge regarding POP and UI in clinical practice.

Objective The purpose of this study is to introduce a standardised assessment tool by verifying the reliability of the translated Korean version of the Feeding Abilities Assessment (K-FAA), which was developed to suit Korean culture. Methods The research subjects were 65 patients with dementia living in nursing homes. The K-FAA was completed by verifying the suitability of translation and reverse translation. The validity of the K-FAA was established through content validity, while its reliability was analysed based on internal consistency reliability for the items, test–retest reliability and inter-rater reliability. Results The content validity index determined, based on the assessment of professors, occupational therapists, and nurses, was more than .70. Cronbach’s α was more than .929, showing good internal consistency. A test–retest reliability of .884 was derived using Pearson’s correlation coefficient (p < .01), and an inter-rater reliability of .800 was derived using the kappa coefficients; intraclass correlation coefficient was .897, which also indicated good reliability. Conclusion The K-FAA was modified to fit the Korean domestic situation, and this assessment had high reliability. Therefore, K-FAA can evaluate the feeding ability of patients with dementia. Future studies should focus on providing evidence-based data to maintain or supplement the feeding ability of patients with dementia in Korea.

Introduction Several general hand functional assessment tools for Dupuytren’s disease have been reported, but none of the patient-reported-outcome measures specific to Dupuytren’s disease-associated disabilities are available in the Italian language. The purpose of this study was to culturally adapt the Unité Rhumatologique des Affections de la Main (URAM) into Italian (URAM-I) and determine its measurement properties. Methods Cross-cultural adaptation was performed according to the current guidelines. Construct validity (convergent and divergent validity) was measured by comparing the URAM-I with the Pain-Rated Wrist/Hand Evaluation (PRWHE-I), Short-Form 36 (SF-36-I) scale and finger range of motion, respectively. Factor analysis was used to investigate the URAM-I’s internal structure. Reliability was assessed by internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha) and test-retest reliability by Intra-Class Correlation Coefficient (ICC). Results This study included 96 patients (males = 85%, age = 66.8 ± 9.3). Due to the cultural adaptation, we divided the original item #1 into two separate items, thus generating the URAM-I(10). Convergent validity analysis showed a strong positive (r = 0.67), significant (p < 0.01) Pearson’s correlation with the PRWHE-I. Divergent validity analysis showed a weak, negative (r < 0.3) and not significant correlation with the SF-36-I subscales, except for the physical pain subscale (r = −0.21, p < 0.05). Factor analysis revealed a 2-factor, 4-item solution that explained 76% of the total variance. The URAM-I(10) demonstrated high internal consistency (α = 0.94) and high test-retest reliability (ICC = 0.97). Conclusion The URAM-I(10) demonstrates moderate construct validity, high internal consistency and test-retest reliability, and showed a 2-factor internal structure. Its evaluative use can be suggested for the Italian Dupuytren’s population.

The current study was planned to test the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the COVID-19 Literacy Scale. The sample of the study was taken from 473 individuals. In this study, language validity, content validity and construct validity were examined to determine the validity of the scale. Its reliability was evaluated by internal consistency, split-half reliability, and test-retest reliability method. It was defined that the scale has a two-factor structure as a result of EFA and its factor loadings are in the appropriate range (0.852–0.324). According to the CFA result, it was determined that the model-data fit was at a good level. The Cronbach values for the whole scale and subscales were .92, .90, and .87, respectively. It was observed that the test-retest value was .95. It was concluded that the Turkish form of the COVID-19 Literacy Scale is a reliable and valid tool.

Background: The Podiatric Health Questionnaire (PHQ) is a health-related questionnaire consisting of six questions designed for measuring foot health status. To date, the PHQ has only been validated in the English-language version. Thus, this study aimed to perform the Spanish translation and test–retest procedures of the PHQ (PHQ-S). Method: The forward/backward translation and test–retest reliability methods were applied from English to Spanish languages. Regarding the total score for each domain, internal consistency and reliability were determined by the Cronbach α and intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) with a confidence interval (CI) of 95%. Results: High internal consistency was shown for the six domains: (1) walking with a Cronbach α of 0.97; (2) hygiene and nail care with 0.93 and 093, respectively; (3) foot pain with 0.91; (4) worry and concern domain with 0.904; (5) quality of life with 0.87; and (6) the self-perception of how their feet are feeling measured by a visual analogic scale with 0.92. Excellent test–retest reliability (ICC = 0.99 (95% CI = 0.96–0.98)) was shown for the total score. Conclusions: The PHQ-S was shown to be a valid and reliable tool for an acceptable use in the Spanish population.

AbstractObjectiveThe present study aimed to develop and validate a nutrition knowledge questionnaire in a sample of French Canadians from the province of Quebec, taking into account dietary guidelines.DesignA thirty-eight-item questionnaire was developed by the research team and evaluated for content validity by an expert panel, and then administered to respondents. Face validity and construct validity were measured in a pre-test. Exploratory factor analysis and covariance structure analysis were performed to verify the structure of the questionnaire and identify problematic items. Internal consistency and test–retest reliability were evaluated through a validation study.SettingOnline survey.SubjectsSix nutrition and psychology experts, fifteen registered dietitians (RD) and 180 lay people participated.ResultsContent validity evaluation resulted in the removal of two items and reformulation of one item. Following face validity, one item was reformulated. Construct validity was found to be adequate, with higher scores for RDv. non-RD (21·5 (sd2·1)v. 15·7 (sd3·0) out of 24,P<0·001). Exploratory factor analysis revealed that the questionnaire contained only one factor. Covariance structure analysis led to removal of sixteen items. Internal consistency for the overall questionnaire was adequate (Cronbach’sα=0·73). Assessment of test–retest reliability resulted in significant associations for the total knowledge score (r=0·59,P<0·001).ConclusionsThis nutrition knowledge questionnaire was found to be a suitable instrument which can be used to measure levels of nutrition knowledge in a Canadian population. It could also serve as a model for the development of similar instruments in other populations.

Abstract Background. The aim of this study was to develop and assess the psychometric properties of the Electronic Fetal Monitoring Knowledge Scale (EFMKS), a self-report and short instrument measuring knowledge concerning Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM). Additionally, it was aimed to use the EFMKS for briefly assessing EFM knowledge in midwives and doctors working in labour ward. Methods. The EFMKS was developed in a three-phase process by using an integrated mixed-methods approach that included literature reviews, professional focus groups, expert consultations and a psychometric survey evaluation. The psychometric evaluation was conducted by recruiting a sample of 128 professionals (midwives and doctors). Data were collected between April and July of 2016 in two public hospitals of Athens, Greece. Content validity, exploratory factor analysis, discriminant and construct validity, test-retest reliability and internal consistency were explored. Results. The expert panel determined that the content validity was satisfactory. The final 10-item scale consisted of three factors explaining 73% of the total variance in the data. Discriminant validity was satisfactory. Internal consistency reliability (α = 0.89) and test-retest reliability (0.85) were satisfactory. The majority of the midwives and the obstetricians had a good level of knowledge while approximately one third of them had a low level of knowledge in EFM. Midwives and doctors having a lower level of knowledge related to EFM, were more frequently professionals with less than five years of clinical experience in the labor ward and reported low confidence for cardiotocography (CTG) interpretation and inadequate preparation for CTG usage.Conclusion. The EFMK demonstrated good content validity, an easily interpretable three-factor structure, high internal consistency, high test-retest reliability, and satisfactory discriminant and construct validity with sample characteristics. The EFMKS may be used for evaluating the EFM knowledge of health professionals and for identifying the areas of their knowledge gap. Based on study findings, an annual multi-professional CTG training is necessary for all intrapartum staff and in particular for the midwives and doctors with shorter clinical experience in the labor ward.

Objective: Obesity’s prevalence has created a plethora of questionnaires characterizing psychological aspects of eating behaviour, such as reward-related eating (RRE). The Reward-based Eating Drive questionnaires (RED-9, RED-13) broadly and deeply assesses the RRE construct. However, large-sample research designs require shorter questionnaires that capture RRE quickly and precisely. We sought to develop a brief, reliable, and valid version of the RED questionnaire.Methods: We used all-subset correlation to find a subset that maximally associated with the full RED-13 in two separate samples. We validated results in a third independent sample. We also assessed internal consistency, test-retest reliability, and ability to explain variance in external outcomes. Results: A 5-item questionnaire (RED-X5) correlated strongly with RED-13 in the independent sample (r = .95). RED-X5 demonstrated high internal consistency (omega total ≥ .80) and 6-month test-retest reliability (r = .72). RED-X5 accurately reproduced known associations between RED-13 and body mass index, diabetes status, and craving for sweet and savory foods. As a novel finding, RED questionnaires predicted laboratory intake of chips.Conclusions: The RED-X5 is a short, reliable, and valid measure of the RRE construct and can be readily implemented in large-sample research designs where questionnaire space is limited. Objective: Cerebral Palsy is one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders in children. Due to the increase in the number of students with Cerebral Palsy (CP) entering ordinary schools and facing problems with independent functioning, there is a need for a valid and comprehensive assessment tool for their successful entry as well as providing a proper treatment plan. The School Function Assessment (SFA), by measuring many school-related functional skills, can identify the strengths and weaknesses affecting the students’ independence and participation in school assignments. It has 320 items and three main parts of participation, task support, and activity performance. The test score can be reported in general or based on each part, separately. The purpose of this study is to examine the validity and reliability of the Persian version of the SFA in children with CP. Materials & Methods: This is a cross-sectional study with methodological design. The study population consists of all children with CP aged 7-12 years in Tehran. Of these, 120 were selected from exceptional public school using a convenience sampling method. The inclusion criteria were: CP diagnosed by a neurologist, age between 7 and 12 years, no other disabilities (e.g. deafness or blindness), and the willingness of children’s parents to participate in the study. A demographic form and the Persian SFA were used for data collection through interview. In order to measure the content validity, Content Validity Index (CVI) and Content Validity Ratio (CVR) were calculated according to the standard protocol of International Quality of Life Assessment. In this regard, 8 experts in the field of pediatrics completed the Persian SFA. To determine the test-retest reliability, the questionnaire was completed by the parents of children with a 4-week interval. The internal consistency and test-retest reliability were examined by using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient and Intra-class Correlation Coefficient (ICC), respectively. Data was analyzed in SPSS V. 22 software. Results: Participants were 64 boys and 56 girls with CP (mean age= 9.4 years). The distribution of CP was as follows: 10% hemiplegic CP, 27.5% diplegic CP, 5.8% monoplegic CP, and 56.7% quadriplegic CP. Eighty hundred-eight percent of respondents were the mothers of students. The CVR and CVI values were in a range of 0.7-1 and 0.87-1, respectively indicating an acceptable validity. All the items had acceptable content validity. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was obtained 0.95 for participation, 0.95-0.99 for task support, 0.83-0.99 for activity performance, and 0.92 in total. Moreover, the ICC value was reported 0.90 for participation; 0.84-0.91 for task support; 0.84-0.97 for activity performance; and 0.89 for the overall test. Conclusion: The Persian version of SFA has acceptable content validity and reliability (internal consistency and test-retest) for children with CP. Therefore, it can be applied as a research and clinical tool to assess the school-related performance of these children.

Objective: According to the declarative/procedural model, the semantic aspect of language depends on the brain structures responsible for declarative memory. The word pairs task is a common tool for evaluating declarative memory. The current study aimed to design a valid and reliable task for evaluating declarative memory in Persian children at learning and retention stages and to investigate its relationship with the semantic aspect of language. Method: A panel of experts agreed on the content validity of the proposed task. The reliability of the task was determined using internal consistency and test-retest reliability. A total of 31 typically developing children aged 7-9 years of age participated in this study. Results: The content validity of all the 42 word pairs calculated as one. The test-retest reliability showed a correlation coefficient of .825 (P < 0.001). The task showed acceptable internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha 0.880). The results of correlation analysis showed no significant relationship between declarative memory and semantic aspect. The regression analysis, however, showed that the retention stage could explain 24.2% of the variation of semantic aspect. Conclusion: It seems that the word pairs task has good validity and reliability for evaluating declarative memory. The task applied to evaluate the semantic aspect can be one of the potential causes for the lack of a relationship between semantic aspect and declarative memory. The participant score in the retention stage can be predicted concerning his/her performance at the semantic aspect.

<p><strong>OBJECTIVE:</strong> This study aimed to translate and culturally adapt the prolapse and incontinence knowledge questionnaire into Turkish, and to investigate the psychometric properties of the Turkish version prolapse and incontinence knowledge questionnaire.</p><p><strong>STUDY DESIGN:</strong> Psychometric properties of the Turkish version prolapse and incontinence knowledge questionnaire, which was developed according to standard scientific translation procedures, were analyzed on 206 volunteer women (31.79±8.79-year-old), after being tested for its comprehensibility and content validity. The participants were questioned about their physical and socio-demographic characteristics, obstetrical-gynecological histories and menstrual states, current medical complaints, and reasons for applying to the clinics. In addition to Turkish version prolapse and incontinence knowledge questionnaire, they completed the Turkish incontinence quiz, global pelvic floor bother questionnaire, pelvic floor distress inventory-20 and pelvic floor impact questionnaire. Retests were performed on 27 participants, after one week. Internal consistency, test-retest reliability, and construct validity of the Turkish version prolapse and incontinence knowledge questionnaire were investigated. </p><p><strong>RESULTS:</strong> Internal consistencies of the Turkish version prolapse and incontinence knowledge questionnaire subscales (Turkish version prolapse and incontinence knowledge questionnaire-UI and Turkish version prolapse and incontinence knowledge questionnaire-pelvic organ prolapse) were high (Cronbach α=0.754 for both); item-total correlations were 0.127-0.576 and 0.217-0.509, respectively. Also, test-retest reliabilities of the subscales and the overall scale were high (Intraclass correlation coefficient =0.949, 0.911 and 0.878, respectively). Turkish version prolapse and Incontinence knowledge questionnaire scores were highly correlated with incontinence quiz scores and weakly correlated with pelvic floor distress inventory-20 and pelvic floor impact questionnaire-7 scores (p&lt;0.05).</p><p><strong>CONCLUSION:</strong> It was concluded that Turkish version prolapse and incontinence knowledge questionnaire is a reliable and valid tool to measure Turkish women’s knowledge and awareness about urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse.</p>
