AbstractThis study examines the cross-level influence mechanism of leaders’ health-promoting leadership on subordinates’ presenteeism among nursing industry. A multilevel mediated moderation model was hypothesized to explore whether health-promoting leadership is associated with subordinates’ presenteeism via the workload of subordinates, and how leader’s performance pressure plays the role in the model. Questionnaires were distributed to 110 nursing teams, which including 110 chief nurses and 660 subordinate nurses. Our findings showed that although health-promoting leadership has no direct impact on presenteeism, health-promoting leadership has an indirect impact on presenteeism via workload, and workload acts as a complete mediator. Meanwhile, performance pressure moderated the relationship between health-promoting leadership and workload. With an increase in performance pressure of leaders, the negative impact of health-promoting leadership on nurse workload gradually weakened. In this multilevel mediated moderation model, the mediated moderating effect of performance pressure was significant and the moderating effect was completely mediated, which means that the interaction between health-promoting leadership and performance pressure can affect presenteeism through workload. When leaders were under high performance pressure, the protective effect of health-promoting leadership on workload would be inhibited. These findings contribute to enriching the research on presenteeism, providing insight into how the health development of employees and performance demands of leaders may be balanced, and affording fresh thoughts for effective prevention and treatment of nurse presenteeism.

Abstract. Time pressure and performance pressure are among the most crucial job demands of today’s workforce. However, the literature on psychological stress barely distinguishes between these constructs. Therefore, we aimed to examine time pressure and performance pressure as two qualitatively different job demands in terms of unique moderators for both demands. We investigated whether time control would moderate the relationship between time pressure and both emotional exhaustion and work engagement. As a vulnerability factor for dealing with performance pressure, we investigated perfectionism. The cross-sectional data of 167 employees showed that time control was a significant moderator of the stress–strain relationship, but only for time pressure. By contrast, perfectionism acted as a personal risk factor only for performance pressure, strengthening the negative impact of performance pressure on strain. Our findings suggest that dealing with time and performance pressure seems to be affected by differential safety and risk factors. Therefore, both should be treated as two distinct constructs.

<p>The expansion of business, fulfillments of demands and profits maximization have created stress and less motivation for job satisfaction. To fulfill the demand of organizations and maximize the satisfaction level of employees; the extrinsic and intrinsic motivation beyond psychological motivation has been used in this study to minimize stress level and maximize the satisfaction level among employees. This study explains work stress, job overload; performance pressure and job satisfaction while in motivation; the extrinsic/intrinsic factors of Self Determination Theory (SDT) have been used. Structured questionnaires were used to collect the data. The total distribution was 120 and response rate was 75 percent. The results found that work stress, job overload and performance pressure has negative impact on job satisfaction and employees do not like stress caused by work overload or job overload, while motivation factor has played an important psychological role in the study.</p>

The development of high-performance materials, which are characterized by high compressive and flexural strength, durability and performance properties, is an urgent problem of modern construction. Engineered cementitious composites are one such material. Improving of properties of composites is achieved by partial replacement of cement with supplementary cementitious materials. The ratio of binder and filler components and superplasticizer consumption were selected. The optimal ratio of cement:fly ash:sand is 1:1:1 and the dosage of polycarboxylate superplasticizer is 0.75% by weight of the binder. The reduction of the negative impact of the increased amount of fly ash, which is characterized by low reactivity, is provided by the introduction of metakaolin and alkaline hardening activator. Alkaline activated cement system is characterized by increasing of the early strength in 1.5 times comparison with equivalent mixture without alkaline activator. Strength of alkaline activated cementing matrix after 28 days is 66.1 MPa and specific strength Rc2/Rc28 is 0.61.

Trace constituents, which can be very loosely defined as those present at concentration levels below 1 percent, often exert influence on structure, properties, and performance far greater than what might be estimated from their proportion alone. Defining the role of trace constituents in the microstructure, or indeed even determining their location, makes great demands on the available array of microanalytical tools. These demands become increasingly more challenging as the dimensions of the volume element to be probed become smaller. For example, a cubic volume element of silicon with an edge dimension of 1 micrometer contains approximately 5×1010 atoms. High performance secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) can be used to measure trace constituents to levels of hundreds of parts per billion from such a volume element (e. g., detection of at least 100 atoms to give 10% reproducibility with an overall detection efficiency of 1%, considering ionization, transmission, and counting).

A key aspect of work processes in service sector firms is the interconnection between tasks and performance. Relational coordination can play an important role in addressing the issues of coordinating organizational activities due to high level of interdependence complexity in service sector firms. Research has primarily supported the aspect that well devised high performance work systems (HPWS) can intensify organizational performance. There is a growing debate, however, with regard to understanding the “mechanism” linking HPWS and performance outcomes. Using relational coordination theory, this study examines a model that examine the effects of subsets of HPWS, such as motivation, skills and opportunity enhancing HR practices on relational coordination among employees working in reciprocal interdependent job settings. Data were gathered from multiple sources including managers and employees at individual, functional and unit levels to know their understanding in relation to HPWS and relational coordination (RC) in 218 bank branches in Pakistan. Data analysis via structural equation modelling, results suggest that HPWS predicted RC among officers at the unit level. The findings of the study have contributions to both, theory and practice.
