The Ironstone Beds of Oolitic age in Lincolnshire have, during the last four years, yielded not only large quantities of brown hæmatite iron-ore, but some very interesting sections and borings, comprising thirty-one of the latter between four and seven miles to the south of Lincoln, and several extensive openings showing that the beds are much richer at this distance from Lincoln, but that they become very siliceous and pass into a ferruginous sand above Normanton about eighteen miles to the south.

In the blast furnace production process, the high iron content in the sludge produced by collecting, Iron can be used as recycled raw materials. Experimental study found that the use of magnetic roasting - weak magnetic iron powder method of recovering technology is feasible. The optimum conditions are: the grinding fineness is 87%, calcination temperature is 750 °C, roasting time is 25min, magnetic current is 1.5A under conditions to obtain a grade of 59% recovery rate of 79.3% iron ore .

This paper presents an experimental study dealing with the toughness of heavy concrete based on the ASTM C1018. Mixtures including 0%, 0.5%, 1.0% and 1.5% of steel fiber content by volume are designated, which are developed based on a mixture used in Kuosheng nuclear power plant in Taiwan. Metallic aggregates of iron shots and iron ore take 48.8% by volume in that mixture. Test results reveal that the compressive strength and rupture modulus of heavy concrete turn out higher than those of normal concrete. In addition, flexural toughness of heavy concrete grow with the steel fiber fraction, which is valid and appropriate for construction of shielding structure and spent fuel cask.
