AbstractBackground: Posyandu is a place for early detection of community-centred growth and development of toddlers. The March 2019 preliminary study resulted in a low coverage of the posyandu (D/S) participation rate in W Village, which was 32%. The purpose of this study was to determine the community's perception of the Posyandu activities for toddlers. Methods: This research is a descriptive qualitative research conducted in W Village. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. The number of informants consisted of 9 people. Data processing is data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. Results: The results showed that the services provided by cadres and health workers were not optimal and there was a lack of infrastructure to support posyandu activities. Conclusion: The community interprets posyandu activities as only weighing and measuring height, which can actually be done by the community without having to play an active role in posyandu activities every month.

Mature coconut water is always been thrown away as a waste. However, it contain a lots of nutritional elements such as amino acids, pytohormones and minerals. Plant needs some essential nutrients besides pytohormones for their growth and development. In this study, the effect of waste mature coconut water and sucrose was observed on the micropropagation of dragon fruit tree (Hylocereus polyrhizus). The stem was inoculated on MS medium containing Benzyleaminopurine (BAP) 0.03mg/L BAP and 0.01mg/L Naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) supplemented with waste mature coconut water in various concentrations (0%, 2%, 4% and 6% v/v) and with various concentrations : 0%, 1%, 2% and 3% of sucrose respectively. As the concentration of the waste mature coconut water and sucrose increased up to 4 % and 3%, increase in the elongation of the stem and the number of root regenerated per explant was observed repectively. In conclusion, waste mature coconut water has enhanced the elongation of the shoots but has not promoted on the root induction with the suitable amount of sucrose.

National development is essentially human development as a whole which must start as early as possible, namely from the womb and during infancy. The growth and development of infants and toddlers take place through certain patterns. The first three years from birth are a period in which billions of Glial cells continue to grow to fertilize neurons. Little one's head, but for the fact that the first three years of little one's development are golden periods in the formation of his smart brain. Because the brain grows very rapidly and will reach 70-80% in the first 3 years of your child's life. Based on the nutritional status of children under five (weight/age) in Sragen regency in 2011 there were 84.03% normal nutrition, 1.89% undernutrition, and 0.01% poor nutrition Preliminary study conducted in Nglangak Kwangen village, Gemolong Sragen, namely there are 55 toddlers, there are 4 toddlers who experience developmental disorders. Speech and language disorders of 2 toddlers and 1 toddler with gross motor impairment are toddlers aged 12 months who cannot sit alone without assistance.

Preliminary study on Eublemma sp. (Eublemminae): a Lepidopteran predator of Coccus viridis (Hemiptera: Coccidae) on coffee plants in Bandarlampung, Indonesia. The objectives of this study were 1) to identify a Lepidopteran predator of the soft green scale Coccus viridis and 2) to present preliminary data on the predator’s feeding rate. Some coffee leaves where eggs of the Lepidopteran predator have been laid in C. viridis colonies were taken from the field and observed in the laboratory. The predator’s growth and development was noted and the specimens were identified up to generic level based on the caterpillar morphology. Ten coffee leaves each with certain number of C. viridis were also collected from the field, transferred to the laboratory, and each was inoculated with one starved caterpillar that had just formed its protective casing. The number of surviving C. viridis was counted daily. This study reveals that the caterpillar, identified as Eublemma sp. Is found to feed obligately on C. viridis. The predation rate of Eublemma sp. in laboratory is 97 + 11 scales / caterpillar.

Plant steroid alcohols, plant sterols, are essential components of cell membranes that perform many functions. Their most prominent function is maintaining membrane semipermeability and regulating its fluidity through their specific interaction with phospholipids and membrane proteins. This work is focused on the study of the interaction of two groups of plant sterols, brassinosteroids (BRs) and phytoecdysteroids (PE). Steroid substances belonging to both groups are important signaling molecules essential for plant growth and development, but while the first group has all the known attributes of plant hormones, the second lacks hormonal function in plants. The aim of this preliminary study was to determine at what concentration level and to what extent substances of this type are able to interact with each other, and thus influence the early growth and development of a plant. It was found that exogenously applied PE 20-hydroxyecdysone (20E) significantly reduced the level of endogenous BRs in four-day-old garden cress (Lepidium sativum) seedlings. On the other hand, exogenously applied BRs, 24-epibrassinolide (epiBL), caused the opposite effect. Endogenous 20E was further detected at the picogram level in garden cress seedlings. Thus, this is the first report indicating that this plant species is PE-positive. The level of endogenous 20E in garden cress seedlings can be decreased by exogenous epiBL, but only at a relatively high concentration of 1·10−6 M in a culture medium. The image analysis of garden cress seedlings revealed that the length of shoot is affected neither by exogenous BRs nor PE, whereas the root length varies depending on the type and concentration of steroid applied.

Cell and tissue interactions are a basic aspect of eukaryotic growth and development. While cell-to-cell interactions involving recognition and incompatibility have been studied extensively in animals, there is no known antigen-antibody reaction in plants and the recognition mechanisms operating in plant grafts have been virtually neglected. An ultrastructural study of the Sedum telephoides/Solanum pennellii graft was undertaken to define possible mechanisms of plant graft incompatibility. Grafts were surgically dissected from greenhouse grown plants at various times over 1-4 weeks and prepared for EM employing variations in the standard fixation and embedding procedure. Stock and scion adhere within 6 days after grafting. Following progressive cell senescence in both Sedum and Solanum, the graft interface appears as a band of 8-11 crushed cells after 2 weeks (Fig. 1, I). Trapped between the buckled cell walls are densely staining cytoplasmic remnants and residual starch grains, an initial product of wound reactions in plants.

A preliminary study of human mammary carcinoma on the ultrastructural level is reported for a metastatic, subcutaneous nodule, obtained as a surgical biopsy. The patient's tumor had responded favorably to a series of hormonal therapies, including androgens, estrogens, progestins, and corticoids for recurring nodules over eight years. The pertinent nodule was removed from the region of the gluteal maximus, two weeks following stilbestrol therapy. It was about 1.5 cms in diameter, and was located within the dermis. Pieces from it were fixed immediately in cold fixatives: phosphate buffered osmium tetroxide, glutaraldehyde, and paraformaldehyde. Embedment in each case was in Vestopal W. Contrasting was done with combinations of uranyl acetate and lead hydroxide.

Calcium is an important element in the growth and development of plants and one form of calcium is calcium oxalate. Calcium oxalate has been found in leaf seed, stem material plant tissue culture, fungi and lichen using one or more of the following methods—polarized light microscopy (PLM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and x-ray diffraction. Two methods are presented here for qualitatively estimating calcium oxalate in dried or fixed tobacco (Nicotiana) leaf from different stalk positions using PLM. SEM, coupled with energy dispersive x-ray spectrometry (EDS), and powder x-ray diffraction were used to verify that the crystals observed in the dried leaf with PLM were calcium oxalate.

A new strain of mice, which had arisen by mutation from a dystrophic mouse colony was designated ‘mdx’, because the genetic defect, which manifests itself in brief periods of muscle destruction followed by episodes of muscle regeneration appears to be X-linked. Further studies of histopathological changes in muscle from ‘mdx’ mice at the light microscopic or electron microscopic levels have been published, but only one preliminary study has been on the tibialis anterior (TA) of ‘mdx’ mice less than four weeks old. Lesions in the ‘mdx’ mice vary between different muscles, and centronucleation of fibers in all muscles studied so far appears to be especially prominent in older mice. Lesions in young ‘mdx’ mice have not been studied extensively, and the results appear to be at variance with one another. The degenerative and regenerative aspects of the lesions in the TA of 23 to 26-day-old ‘mdx’ mice appear to vary quantitatively.
