AbstractAnalysis of shrinkage characteristics of Aluminium-Silicon alloy was studied theoretically and experimentally. The Aluminium alloys considered in the study are A413 (LM6), A360 (LM9) and A380 (LM24). Extensive literature survey has suggested that cavity filling and solidification process are two most critical aspects to produce high quality casting components. A statistical model of parameters and response to understand the influence of parameters on shrinkage and casting yield studies has been presented. Experiments were conducted in foundry in industrial environment to produce commercially treated aluminium alloy castings in sand mould. Alloy was found to be most significant factor influencing shrinkage. The yield of casting was improved using insulating and exothermic sleeves. Solidification time of exothermic riser was 10 % more than insulated riser. Thus, in order to produce radiographic quality casting a theoretical and experimental method is presented so that number of trials in foundry is reduced which leads to increased reliability and productivity. Study also shows that by using sleeves considerable metal is saved, energy saving during melting, improved quality, reduced cost and increased capacity of plant can be achieved.

The main objective of the study is to evaluate the practice and progress of the activities of green banking in the way of sustainable development of Bangladesh. Green banking is regarded as sustainable banking, which has a role to safeguard the planet from environmental degradation, with an aim of ensuring sustainable development. It comprises the choices that take sustainability into account. Sustainable development is an expansion that comes across the requirements of the present situation without overlooking the capacity of future situations to meet the necessities. Bangladesh is in need of proper adaptation and utilization of green banking for its sustainable development. The present study is conceptual and analytical in nature based on the secondary data with an extensive literature survey along with scanning the annual and quarterly reports of Bangladesh Bank on green banking during the 2011-2019 fiscal years. The secondary sources of data are internet and commercial banks websites, Bangladesh Bank (BB) websites and literature reviews, etc. The collected data are analyzed and interpreted in the light of the practice and progress of activities of green banking in Bangladesh from a global perspective. The study shows that banking in Bangladesh is in the diversification phase passing through the intensification and foundation phases. It is progressing steadily. They have a lot more scope to contribute to the diversification of green finance in the way of sustainable development of Bangladesh. Rigorous, effective, and coherent efforts from banks in this regard are the demands of the day.

Maritime archaeology in sub-Saharan Africa is still in its early development stage. An extensive literature survey indicated that relatively few projects of this nature have been undertaken in these parts. Even fewer warrant the adjective “scientific,” based on the dearth of peer-reviewed academic publications that have appeared to date. Based on the survey, it seems that most research is undertaken in South Africa, Kenya, and Namibia, and the emphasis therefore lies with these countries.

In this chapter, the authors work at the feature level opinion mining and make a user-centric selection of each feature. Then they preprocess the data using techniques like sentence splitting, stemming, and many more. Ontology plays an important role in annotating documents with metadata, improving the performance of information extraction and reasoning, and making data interoperable between different applications. In order to build ontology in the method, the authors use (product) domain ontology, ConceptNet, and word net databases. They discuss the current approaches being used for the same by an extensive literature survey. In addition, an approach used for ontology-based mining is proposed and exploited using a product as a case study. This is supported by implementation. The chapter concludes with results and discussion.

Candida albicans is a prominent human fungal pathogen. Current treatments are suffering a massive gap due to emerging resistance against available antifungals. Therefore, there is an ardent need for novel antifungal candidates that essentially have more than one target, as most antifungal repertoires are single-target drugs. Exploration of multiple-drug targeting in antifungal therapeutics is still pending. An extensive literature survey was performed to categorize and comprehend relevant studies and the current therapeutic scenario that led researchers to preferentially consider multitarget drug-based Candida infection therapy. With this article, we identified and compiled a few potent antifungal compounds that are directed toward multiple virulent targets in C. albicans. Such compound(s) provide an optimistic platform of multiple targeting and could leave a substantial impact on the development of effective antifungals.

Object. Hydatidosis is both a medical and an economic problem in Turkey. The aim of this study was to analyze central nervous system (CNS) involvement in this disease, the related problems the disease causes, and its diagnostic and therapeutic aspects.Methods. The authors conducted an extensive literature survey of the subject, in which papers published by Turkish authors in international and domestic journals were carefully analyzed. In addition, the authors conducted a cooperative study in which data were gathered from 47 neurosurgery departments across the country. The purpose was to determine the current status of the disease in Turkey; thus, each unit was questioned about their experience over the past 5 years.Contrary to common belief, the incidence of hydatidosis has not decreased significantly in Turkey. However, computerized tomography and magnetic resonance imaging have tremendously increased diagnostic specificity. Incidences of morbidity and mortality have improved over time, according to the results of the cooperative study, although these changes are not statistically significant. This may be attributed to experience that has been gained and to more frequent use of chemotherapy, as reflected by the cooperative study data. The two statistically significant findings of that study were expanded use of chemotherapy in the management of hydatidosis, and a higher rate of extraneural involvement in the disease. The cooperative study revealed that chemotherapy was being used more often and that there was a wider range of indications for this treatment than previously reported. The higher rate of extraneural involvement was predictable because lesions in the CNS are typically secondary in this disease. With regard to the studies' findings on cases of spinal hydatid cysts, the authors found that administration of chemotherapeutic drugs was the only statistically significant parameter (t = 3.78, p < 0.05), with the rate of chemotherapy higher in the cooperative study.Conclusions. Morbidity, mortality, and recurrence rates of hydatidosis uncovered by the cooperative study and the literature survey were not statistically significant.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to highlight the current status of enterprise resource planning (ERP) field and address some issues in literature reviews, the authors conduct a comprehensive literature survey of extensive literature reviews of ERP in organizational contexts and map all the existing research issues that have been mentioned. Design/methodology/approach – Two groups of keywords are set to search papers through academic search engine and academic databases. Total 86 literature reviews have been accumulated and categorized into three main categories and five sub-categories. The authors adopt multi-method approach to analyze the survey result. It consists of review type, geographical area, publication type, theory, and process approach. Findings – Literature reviews need more continuity, objectivity, and integrality. More efforts should be made to increase methodologically sound and theoretically grounded research. In ERP research field, the topics in the post-implementation phase are heating up recently but still in its initial stage as well as small and medium enterprises research. The development of ERP in specific area or industry is considered to be critical. More longitudinal case study should be launched. Looking for the distribution of research across geographical areas is a potential perspective of researching as well. Originality/value – This is the first comprehensive research that aims to analyze all the literature review in ERP field. The specific analysis provides critical detail for researchers to find the needed research. The discussion of this paper can be very valuable and helpful for assisting researchers to find their directions, and contributing to the development of literature reviews in ERP research field.

Floating point multipliers are extensively used in many scientific and signal processing computations, due to high speed and memory requirements of IEEE-754 floating point multipliers which prevents its implementation in many systems because of fast computations. Hence floating point multipliers became one of the research criteria. This research aims to design a new floating point multiplier that occupies less area, low power dissipation and reduces computational time (more speed) when compared to the conventional architectures. After an extensive literature survey, new architecture was recognized i.e, resource sharing Karatsuba –Ofman algorithm which occupies less area, power and increasing speed. The design was implemented in mat lab using DSP block sets, simulator tool is Xilinx Vivado.
