The academic competence of cadets is the basis for the formation of professional and social-personal competence of a specialist. Academic competence is a set of skills to independently obtain, process and apply knowledge in the field of jurisprudence, as well as to study and explain from a theoretical point of view the phenomena associated with the implementation of law enforcement. The specifics of training in higher education institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs predetermines the need for a systematic organization of activities to develop the academic competence of cadets. The article describes the stages of designing the educational process, taking into account the stages of professionalization of cadets in the learning process.

The research aimed to identify the level of perceived academic competence among Arab Open University students (Sultanate of Oman) and to identify the extent of the difference of the perceived level of academic competence according to the variables of specialization (Information Technology and Business Administration) and academic level (freshman and sophomore) and the interface between them. The research used the descriptive method and the Perceived Academic Competence scale to achieve the goals of the study and answer its questions, an indicator related to the extent of students' perception and awareness of their ability to achieve academic success. It consists of (9) scales applied to an intentional sample of (94) male and female students of AOU. The research has concluded that the general average of the perceived academic competence of the Arab Open University students in Business Administration and Information Technology for the first and second year amounted to (3.85) and this indicates that the study sample has a high degree of perceived academic competence. There were no statistically significant differences in the level of perceived academic competence according to the variables of specialization and academic year level. The results also indicated that there is no interface between the specialization and the academic year level. Rendering to the results, several recommendations and proposals were presented to improve the academic competence of university students and the general undergraduate students in the Sultanate of Oman and the Arab countries.

The purpose of the academic paper is to reveal and define the set of competences of teachers of higher educational institutions, corresponding to the concept of “lifelong learning”. The study was conducted by surveying four higher educational institutions in Ukraine and Poland. Along with this, the basic components of the general competence of teachers of higher educational institutions are as follows: professional, psychological-communicative and academic competence. A set of certain features has been selected for a clear and concise essence of competences. It has been established that the competence of introduction of innovative learning technologies in the educational process, research, digital and competence of lifelong learning are relevant in accordance with the requirements. Systematization of indicators of professional, psychological-communicative and academic competence has made it possible to reveal that the improvement of these characteristics is achieved through continuous learning. It has been proved that the development of tools for assessing the competence teachers of higher educational institutions will help identify positive or negative trends.

The study ascertained the level of academic competence of secondary school students in Osun State and also determined level of self-efficacy of the students. It investigated the influence of self-efficacy on the students’ academic competence. These were with a view to providing information on factor that could influence the academic competence of secondary school students. The study adopted descriptive survey research design. The population for the study comprised senior secondary school students in Osun State. The sample size comprised 600 respondents, selected using multistage sampling technique. One Local Government Area (LGA) was selected from each of the three senatorial districts in the State using simple random sampling technique. From each LGA, four senior secondary schools were selected using simple random sampling technique (12 schools in all) and from each school, 50 students were selected from senior secondary II using simple random sampling technique. Three instruments were used to collect information for the study, namely: Academic Competence Evaluation Scale (ACES), and General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES). Data collected were analyzed using percentages and ANOVA. The results showed that 9.41%, 60.21% and 30.37% of secondary school students in Osun State demonstrated low, moderate and high levels of academic competence respectively. The results of the study also indicated that there was a significant positive influence of self-efficacy on academic competence of the students (F =69.35; p<0.05). The study concluded that self-efficacy influenced academic competence of secondary school students in Osun State.
