KNN-BF piezoelectric ceramics synthesized by sol-gel method in this experiment. By controlling bismuth and iron content in the system to study effects of them. We selected citric acid as metal chelator and ethylene glycol as esterification agent. PH maintained 5-6 during preparation of the sol. Sintering temperature of ceramic selected 1100°C. Preparation ceramics under these conditions and comparative analysis, the structure of ceramics is single perovskite and shap of crystals are square block. With the increase of x, properties of ceramics firstly increases and then decreases: d33, εr, Qm, Kpreaching the maximum, values of them were 136pC/N, 630(f =1KHz), 212, 0.41 respectively; dielectric loss to minimum is 0.07(f =1KHz); at this point, ceramics had best performance.

The composites of Fe/Al2O3 gradient coatings on steel substrate were prepared by spraying and sol-gel method, and the microstructure and performances of the composites were analyzed. The results show that the adhesion strength of Fe/Al2O3 gradient coatings with FeAlNi transitional layers reaches 25.3MPa when the sintering temperature is 1220°C, and the surface hardness of coatings is four times higher than that of steel substrate. The coatings are mainly composed of α-Al2O3, AlFeO3 and NiFe2O4. There is no obvious hole or macro-interface, while some organization similar to the branch appears in the coatings. The bonding of Fe/Al2O3 gradient coatings and steel substrate mainly depends on adsorption, diffusion and chemical combination.

TiO2 films were prepared by sol-gel method with butyl titanate, anhydrous ethanol, acetyl acetone and hydrochloric acid as raw materials, which were sintered at 380 °C and 530 °C respectively to obtain TiO2 films. XRD was used for analyzing the crystal structure of TiO2 film, and ImageJ software was used to detect the light transmittance of TiO2 film samples. The results show that the film sintered at 530 °C is brookite structure and the film sintered at 380 °C is anatase structure. The increase of sintering temperature is not conducive to the growth of TiO2 film grains. TiO2 films sintered at 380 °C have good light transmittance.

Utilizing zinc acetate as precursor, and monoethanolamine (MEA), diethanolamine (DEA) and triethanolamine (TEA) as stabilizers, respectively, ZnO nanoparticles with uniformly distributed grains were synthesized by sol-gel method at different sintering temperatures. Analysis of the degradation of methyl orange by photocatalysis shows that utilizing MEA as the stabilizer and 550°C as the sintering temperature results in smaller grain size, greater surface-to-volume ratio, and a density of surface defects suitable for a photocatalyst. The greatest photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange was achieved under UV irradiation. Based on our microstructural analysis and photocatalysis, the microstructure of ZnO particles and, in turn, their photocatalytic effect are affected significantly by the stabilizer type and the sintering temperature.

The different concentration La2O3-doped BaTiO3 ceramics were prepared by sol-gel method. The ferroelectric and dielectric properties of the ceramics are characterized by TF analyzer 2000. With the increased amount of La2O3-doped, the dielectric constant increase gradually, when the sintering temperature is 1250 °C, the dielectric constant has reached 4648 for La2O3 with 0.4%-doped. With the temperature increased the dielectric constant of La-BaTiO3 increase gradually, when the sintering temperature is 1290 °C, the dielectric constant has reached 7066 for La2O3 with 0.4%-doped.

AbstractHighly oriented strontium titanate (STO) thin films were successfully deposited on sapphire substrates using a sol-gel method. Sintering temperature of 1400°C and the use of c-cut sapphire for the substrates are the keys to obtain highly oriented thin films. The sample obtained on c-cut sapphire with a sintering temperature of 1400°C showed quite high (111)-orientation and a narrow full width half maximum (FWHM) value of 0.265°, which indicates a high quality deposition of the STO thin films. We believe this high quality STO deposition technique will bring a new scope of oxide material applications for future electronic devices.

Nanocrystalline lead zirconate titanate (PZT) powders with composition at the morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) were synthesized by a simple aqueous based sol-gel method, using lead nitrate, zirconium nitrate and tetrabutyl titanate as the starting materials. The sol could be easily transformed into gel, firstly heated at 120°C for 10h, then at 180°C for 24h. The thermal decomposition process of the gel was investigated by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques. The effect of citrate addition amount on the calcining temperature was discussed. The results reveal that pure perovskite phase PZT powders can be obtained at a calcining temperature as low as 600°C. The average grain size of the powders was determined by transmission electron microscope and X-ray diffraction. The influences of calcining temperature and the pH value of the solution on the grain size were investigated. The sintering temperature and electrical properties of the ceramics derived by nano-powders were compared with those prepared by the conventional ceramic processing. The result shows that using the nanopowder, the sintering temperature could be reduced by about 100°C and the ferroelectric properties were enhanced.

PZT ceramic is synthesis by using sol gel method.Introducing a dopant to the pure PZT can help to enhance the properties of the piezoelectric ceramic. The effects of sintering temperature on phase formation, densification of the ceramics have been investigated using XRD, SEM and Archimedes method. The bulk density and porosity of PZT decreased as the sintering temperature increased.
