Computer simulations of electron diffraction patterns and images are an essential step in the process of structure and/or defect elucidation. So far most programs are designed to deal specifically with crystals, requiring frequently the space group as imput parameter. In such programs the deviations from perfect periodicity are dealt with by means of “periodic continuation”.However, for many applications involving amorphous materials, quasiperiodic materials or simply crystals with defects (including finite shape effects) it is convenient to have an algorithm capable of handling non-periodicity. Our program “HeGo” is an implementation of the well known multislice equations in which no periodicity assumption is made whatsoever. The salient features of our implementation are: 1) We made Gaussian fits to the atomic scattering factors for electrons covering the whole periodic table and the ranges [0-2]Å−1 and [2-6]Å−1.

Background. Luteal phase (LP) drug support is an important step in assisted reproductive technology (ART) programs efficacy. Aim. To present up-to-date data on an efficacy of LP hormonal support during ART cycles as well as to conduct a comparative analysis of various gestagen drug effectiveness. Materials and methods. To write this review domestic and foreign publications were searched in Russian and international search systems (PubMed, eLibrary, etc.) for the last 8 years. The review includs articles from peer-reviewed literature. Results. LP drug support becomes an essential step in infertility treatment in various ART programs. Although human chorionic gonadotropin drug injections in the posttransfer period leads to an activation of endogenous steroid hormones synthesis, exogenous hormones use is currently preferred because of not having a risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. Conclusions. The variety of progesterone drugs is accompanied by a lack of algorithms for their use in various clinical situations. Further studies are required to evaluate progesterone drugs efficacy for various subgroups of patients.

Abstract Deprocessing is an essential step in the physical failure analysis of ICs. Typically, this is accomplished by techniques such as wet chemical methods, RIE, and mechanical manual polishing. Manual polishing suffers from highly non-uniform delayering particularly for sub 20nm technologies due to aggressive back-end-of-line scaling and porous ultra low-k dielectric films. Recently gas assisted Xe plasma FIB has demonstrated uniform delayering of the metal and dielectric layers, achieving a planar surface of heterogeneous materials. In this paper, the successful application of this technique to delayer sub-20 nm microprocessor chips with real defects to root cause the failure is presented.

Improved removal of particles during the treatment of natural aquatic suspensions has been achieved by pre-ozonation and the addition of small quantities of iron salts (βFe ≤ 0.1 mg.L-1; “Fe(III)-assisted filtration”) followed by rapid filtration. As shown by investigations on a large-scale installation at Lake Constance Water Supply, this procedure reliably reduces suspended solids by at least 2-3 powers of ten in long-term use. However, the high efficacy of Fe(III)-assisted filtration cannot be explained on the basis of known coagulation mechanisms (like adsorption-charge neutralization, co-precipitation). Instead, the essential step was found to be the conditioning of the filter medium by coating it with colloids containing Fe(OH)3, and this “Fe coating” process occurs only in the presence of alkaline earths (especially Ca2+). According to further experiments, the enhanced solid-liquid separation was ultimately traced to chemical interactions such as the formation of calcium-organic association structures between the iron hydroxides and other solids. For design of Fe(III)-assisted filtration steps, finally, a βCa/DOC ratio above 40 mg.mg-1 and pre-oxidation with ozone dosages not exceeding 2 mg O3/mg DOC was recommended.

With the growing popularity of robots, the development of robot applications is subject to an ever increasing number of additional requirements from e.g., safety, legal and ethical sides. The certification of an application for compliance to such requirements is an essential step in the development of a robot program. However, at this point in time it must be ensured that the integrity of this program is preserved meaning that no intentional or unintentional modifications happen to the program until the robot executes it. Based on the abstraction of robot programs as workflows we present in this work a cryptography-powered distributed infrastructure for the preservation of robot workflows. A client composes a robot program and once it is accepted a separate entity provides a digital signature for the workflow and its parameters which can be verified by the robot before executing it. We demonstrate a real-world implementation of this infrastructure using a mobile manipulator and its software stack. We also provide an outlook on the integration of this work into our larger undertaking to provide a distributed ledger-based compliant robot application development environment.

The subject of the work is the research on relevant factors influencing participation in the success of brownfield revitalization, especially in the territory of small municipalities. Research has so far dealt with the issue of determining disparities in the municipalities of the Czech Republic, not excluding small municipalities, but their subsequent application has usually been presented in larger cities. The focus on smaller municipalities or cities was usually addressed only in general. The introduction provides an overview of theoretical knowledge in the field of brownfield revitalization. Defining the level of knowledge of the monitored issues is an essential step for the purposes of more effective determination of disparities. Disparities will be determined on the basis of information on localities that have been successfully revitalized. The identified disparities are then monitored in the territory of small municipalities. For the purposes of processing, it was determined that a small municipality or city is an area with a maximum of 5000 inhabitants. Using appropriately selected statistical methods, an overview of disparities and their weights is determined, which significantly affect the success of revitalization. In small municipalities, the issue of brownfields is not emphasized but, in terms of maintaining community strength and reducing population turnover, the reuse of brownfields is a crucial theme.

ABSTRACT Soaking is an essential step in the processing of various rice products. In this study, the influences of vacuum soaking on hydration, steaming, and physiochemical properties of rice were investigated. Results showed that vacuum soaking accelerated water absorption as well as affected the mobility and density of water protons inside rice during soaking. Vacuum soaking could considerably shorten the optimal steaming time from 58 to 32 min and reduce the adhesiveness of steamed rice. Microstructure analysis of rice revealed that porous structure was formed on rice surface and the arrangement of starch granules became loosened after vacuum soaking. Moreover, vacuum soaking slightly reduced the relative crystallinity of rice starches without altering the crystalline type. The gelatinization temperature as well as the peak and trough viscosity was also decreased after vacuum soaking. Our study suggested that vacuum soaking was conducive to improve the soaking and steaming properties of rice.
