Diabetes mellitus is a difficult metabolic disorder that has seriously impact the human health and quality of life. Medicinal plants are being used to control diabetes However, they are not entirely effective and no one has ever been reported to have fully recovered from diabetes. Many plants have been used for the management of diabetes mellitus in various traditional systems of medicine worldwide as they are a great source of biological constituents and many of them are known to be effective against diabetes. Medicinal plants with antihyperglycemic activities are being more desired, owing to lesser sideeffects and low cost. Streptozotocin was induced to all groups of rats at dosage of 35 -55mg/kg except for the normal. Streptozotocin induced diabetes in sprague dawly rats were used to study antidiabetic activity of methonolic extract of two medicinal plants Gymnema sylvestre,Andrographis paniculata methanolic leaf extract was administered orally in graded doses of 30 mg/kg,50mg /kg sprague dawly rats Gymnema sylvestre at a dose of 30mg/kg and Andrographis paniculata at a dose of 50mg/kg showed significant anti-hyperglycemic and anti-oxidative effect which was evident from the 1st week of treatment.

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia and metabolic abnormality of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins caused by decreased insulin sensitivity. Glibenclamid as a synthesis drug or traditional medicine such as Sambiloto Capsule could use for diabetes mellitus. Hereditary, people have been using decoction of Sambiloto’s leaves to prevent cold, influenza, fevers, jaundice. The bitterness of Sambiloto (Andrographis paniculata) was also believed to cure diabetes. The purpose of this research was to compare between Sambiloto capsule with Glibenclamid on white male mices DDY strain. The research method was an experimental study using pre and post test control group design, using 15 white male mices DDY strain which were given a glucose load and divided into 3 groups. Negatif control group (CMC Na), positive control group (Glibenclamid), and test group (Sambiloto Capsules). The results blood glucose level of this research was analyzed using Paired T-test and with the 95 % convidence level. The comparison test of antidiabetes activity between Sambiloto Capsule and Glibenklamid on white male mice DDY strain showed that the Sambiloto Capsule had antidiabetic activity viewed from the average decline in blood glucose levels. The degradation of blood glucose levels in Glibenklamid group was faster than Sambiloto Capsule group indicated by the statistical analysis using Paired T-test with the significance level smaller than 0,05 and showed by T-value was great than T-tabel. Conclusion of the research showed that the activity Sambiloto Capsules anti diabetic.

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic condition that disturbs the body's blood sugarregulation. This disorder is characterized by a decrease in the ability of bodycells to intake glucose into cells. Due to the failure of cells in glucose intake, glucose buildup occurs in the extracellular, namely in the plasma. Thesemedicinal plants contain quite varied secondary metabolites, where theseplants are rich in flavonoids, alkaloids, terpenes and glycosides. The contentof these secondary metabolite compounds is believed to be rich in antioxidanteffects so that it has the effect of being able to suppress various oxidativestress conditions that cause damage to various organs due to blood sugardysregulation. The effect of Tinospora crispa, Andrographis paniculata,Cinamomum burmanii, Syzygium polyanthum and Momordica charantiaextracts on blood sugar levels and GLUT4 protein expression in muscle tissueshows the potential of the test extract's ability to improve blood glucose intaketo cells so as to maintain blood sugar regulation.

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are the most widely used stem cells of the human body due to ease of successful isolation and expansion for many years. In particular, from 2012 until now, MSCs have been widely clinically used to treat various diseases, including graft versus host disease (GVHD), Crohn’s disease, and knee osteoarthritis. In this review, the applications of MSCs in diabetes will be reviewed and discussed. Diabetes mellitus type 1, also known as Type 1 diabetes (T1DM), is an autoimmune disease in which immune cells attack the beta cells in islets of Langerhans (pancreatic islets). Although type 2 diabetes (T2DM) is considered to be a disease related to insulin resistance, several recent studies have shown some relation of immune dysfunction in this disease. Therefore, MSC transplantation may be a beneficial treatment for both T1DM and T2DM. MSC transplantation in preclinical trials and clinical trials for T1DM and T2DM have shown a moderate to significant improvement in diabetes without adverse side effects. In this review, we will discuss some of the updates from preclinical and clinical trials of MSC transplantation for diabetes.
