Considerable advances have been made from diverse perspectives in rockburst research to guarantee the safety of deep underground activities. However, to date, few reviews have been made to systematically analyze the overall research status of rockburst. This study is aimed at providing a scientometric review on rockburst research in hard rock from 2000 to 2019. First, a total of 430 papers were collected from the Web of Science Core Collection database. Then, the CiteSpace software was adopted to conduct a scientometric analysis from five main aspects. Finally, the existing knowledge domains and future directions were discussed. Based on the results of this study, main countries, institutions, authors, and journals of rockburst research were revealed, and some important papers, hot topics, and evolutionary trends were found out. This review contributes to the integrated knowledge map of rockburst research in hard rock and provides researchers a valuable and in-depth understanding in this domain.

PurposeThe use of recycled concrete (RC) can reduce the greenhouse emissions associated with the production of cement, which is one of the primary materials used for the execution of construction projects. This research aims to review the state of knowledge in the field of RC research. An understanding of the state of the art in the RC domain justifies future research in this field.Design/methodology/approachA systematic and comprehensive search of RC-related literature was conducted using the Scopus database. In this research, the bibliometrix R-package was used for the analysis of bibliometric information of the selected papers. The software was used to create a map, which highlights the trends and gaps in the RC knowledge domain.FindingsThe results reveal the research themes, clusters, collaboration networks and advancement of knowledge in the field of RC research. The study integrates the literature focussed on RC research and provides a platform for progression of knowledge in this field.Originality/valueThe study contributes to the growing body of knowledge by providing an up-to-date RC knowledge map based on an analysis of bibliographic data. Information gleaned from previous studies suggests that bibliometric review can strengthen and complement the findings emerging from other forms of literature reviews. The study reported here is one of the first studies to provide insights into the evolution of RC research.

Recently, architecture engineering and construction (AEC) industry benefits from building information modeling (BIM) as a technology-based development, to enhance collaboration and increase the efficiency of construction projects. After implementing BIM in design and construction phases, developed countries now head towards utilization of BIM in facilities management (FM) processes. As ranking among the leading AEC industries, Turkey not only follows latest developments but also promises valuable potentials for both theoretical and practical improvement of BIM. Based on the studies published in BIM field, this study applies bibliometric review approach to analyze the state-of-the-art situation of the field in Turkey, and determine potential research areas, especially in BIM and FM intersection. Following the systematic literature search that aims to introduce current efforts of Turkish researchers in BIM field, the qualitative analysis categorizes these efforts according to life cycle phases of a construction project and provides a vision on existing knowledge as well as research gaps. Findings of this study point out the important contributions of Turkey to BIM field especially in design and/or construction phases. A prominent conclusion of this study also signals a need for more FM oriented approach in BIM researches.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is an interdiscipline that aims to create and enhance the intelligence of machines and robots. Neuroscience has a tight connection with AI, which is also one of the earliest research fields that neuroscience attempted to carry out. This paper focused on the development and research trends of AI in neuroscience with the help of a latest scientometric tool, CiteSpace II. It allowed us to grasp the research frontiers and trends of AI in neuroscience through the analysis of data concerning AI and neuroscience between 1990 and 2012. We found that cluster #5 heart rate variability was most likely to be the emerging trends and some technologies will be more frequently used in neuroscience research.

Abstract Background: To explore the research trends for uveal melanoma (UM) with bibliometric methods using Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) and PubMed (PM).Methods: To find UM-related studies, “uveal melanoma” was used as search term in the WoSCC and PM for the period time from 2000 to 2020. Bibliographic coupling analysis was used to investigate the journals with the highest number of UM-related publications. VOSviewer (VV) was used for mapping the knowledge domain and visualizing the co-occurrence of terms, authors, organizations, countries, co-citation literature, and keywords. The knowledge map based on WoSCC and PM were compared.Results: In the WoSCC 3,748 articles were found, while in PM the search resulted in 3,403 articles. The number of original articles has steadily grown in general in the past two decades. The top ten authors were contributing to 23% (n= 856) of all publications, while the top 10 institutions published 41% (n= 1524) of all articles. The top 3 journals with the highest number of publications for UM-related research included Investigative ophthalmology & visual science, Ophthalmology, and British Journal of Ophthalmology. Co-occurrence analysis based on author keywords showed 6 clusters. The most frequent keywords included metastasis, prognosis, and brachytherapy. The latest research hotspots focused on BAP1, immunotherapy and GNAQ.Conclusions: Genetics and immunology are the latest research frontiers in uveal melanoma. There is a clear need for interdisciplinary, molecular and clinical research approaches to improve the fatal prognosis of uveal melanoma patients.

Background: The new media provides a convenient platform to access, use and exchange health information. And as a special group of health care, maternal health care is still of international concern due to their high mortality rate. Scientific research is a good way to provide advice on how to improve maternal health through stringent reasoning and accurate data. However, the dramatic increase of publications, the diversity of themes, and the dispersion of researchers may reduce the quality of information and increase the difficulty of selection. Thus, this study aims to analyze the research progress on maternal health under the global new media environment, exploring the current research hotspots and frontiers. Methods: A scientometric analysis was carried out by CiteSpace5.7.R1. In total, 2270 articles have been further analyzed to explore top countries and institutions, potential articles, research frontiers, and hotspots. Results: The publications ascended markedly, from 29 in 2008 to 472 publications by 2020. But there is still a lot of room to grow, and the growth rate does not conform to the Price’s Law. Research centers concentrated in Latin America, such as the University of Toronto and the University of California. The work of Larsson M, Lagan BM and Tiedje L had high potential influence. Most of the research subjects were maternal and newborn babies, and the research frontiers were distributed in health education and psychological problems. Maternal mental health, nutrition, weight, production technology, and equipment were seemingly hotspots. Conclusion: The new media has almost brought a new era for maternal health, mainly characterized by psychological qualities, healthy and reasonable physical conditions and advanced technology.

The in situ moduli of unbound pavement materials vary on a seasonal basis as a function of temperature and moisture conditions. The development of empirical models to predict backcalculated pavement layer moduli as a function of moisture content and stress state is addressed. The work is based on data collected via the Seasonal Monitoring Program of the Long-Term Pavement Performance Program. This research identified fundamental incompatibilities between the stress states computed from layer moduli backcalculated using linear layered-elastic theory and those used in laboratory resilient modulus testing. Important implications of this finding are that (a) application of laboratory-derived constitutive model coefficients in combination with stress states computed using linear layered-elastic theory may yield inaccurate stress-dependent modulus values and (b) meaningful advances in the state of the art for backcalculation of pavement layer moduli cannot be achieved without addressing the inaccuracies and limitations inherent in the use of linear layered-elastic theory to model nonlinear pavement response. Other important findings include the following: (c) variation in moisture content is not always the most important factor causing seasonal variations in pavement layer moduli and (d) a constitutive model form suitable for approximately incorporating the stress and moisture sensitivity of layer moduli backcalculated using linear layered-elastic procedures for practical design purposes is identified.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper was to map the safety management research of construction industry by scientometric analysis, which can predict important highlights and future research directions of safety management research in the construction industry. As an important issue in the construction industry, safety management issues have been researched from different perspectives. Although previous studies make knowledge contributions to the safety management research of construction industry, there are still huge obstacles to distinguish the comprehensive knowledge map of safety management research in the construction industry.Design/methodology/approachThis study applies three scientometric analysis methods, collaboration network analysis, co-occurrence network analysis and cocitation network analysis, to the safety management research of construction industry. 5,406 articles were retrieved from the core collection database of the Web of Science. CiteSpace was used for constructing a comprehensive analysis framework to analyze and visualize the safety management research of construction industry. According to integrating the analysis results, a knowledge map for the safety management research of construction industry can be constructed.FindingsThe analysis results revealed the academic communities, key research topics and knowledge body of safety management research in the construction industry. The evolution paths of safety management research in the construction industry were divided into three development stages: “construction safety management”, “multi-objective safety management” and “comprehensive safety management”. Five research directions were predicted on the future safety management research of construction industry, including (1) comprehensive assessment indicators system; (2) intelligent safety management; (3) cross-organization collaboration of safety management; (4) multilevel safety behavior perception and (5) comparative analysis of safety climate.Originality/valueThe findings can reveal the overall status of safety management research in the construction industry and represent a high-quality knowledge body of safety management research in the construction industry that accurately reflects the comprehensive knowledge map on the safety management research of construction industry. The findings also predict important highlights and future research directions of safety management research in the construction industry, which will help researchers in the safety management research of construction industry for future collaboration and work.

Vinegar is one of the most widely used acidic condiments. In recent decades, rapid advances have been made in the area of vinegar research, and the intellectual structure pertaining to this domain has significantly evolved. Thus, it is important that scientists keep abreast of associated developments to ensure an appropriate understanding of this field. To facilitate this current study, a bibliometric analysis method was adopted to visualize the knowledge map of vinegar research based on literature data retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database. In total, 883 original research and review articles from between 1998 and 2019 with 19,663 references were analyzed by CiteSpace. Both a macroscopical sketch and microscopical characterization of the whole knowledge domain were realized. According to the research contents, the main themes that underlie vinegar research can be divided into six categories, that is, microorganisms, substances, health functions, production technologies, adjuvant medicines, and vinegar residues. In addition to the latter analysis, emerging trends and future research foci were predicted. Finally, the evolutionary stage of vinegar research was discerned according to Shneider’s four-stage theory. This review will help scientists to discern the dynamic evolution of vinegar research, as well as highlight areas for future research.
